Since we now have Virginia International Raceway in Forza, I started a project based off of Car and Driver’s Lightning Lap.
Cars are driven bone stock(no upgrades or tuning) on VIR’s Grand West layout in Forza Motorsport 6.
No TCS (Traction Control System)
No STM (Stability Management)
No ABS (Anti-lock Brake System)
Manual Shifting
Braking Line on
Sim Damage
I’m keeping track of the times on a Google Spreadsheet that you can view here. Hat tip to Manteo Max. His Forza 6 Spreadsheet was a useful guide.
If a listed car has no time, I have run the lap but the video hasn’t been posted yet.
I’m using Upload Studio so I’ll only commentate when I really have something to talk about.
I’ve been playing around with different formats and views. Feedback on what works and what doesn’t is appreciated.
A Ford vs. Chevy series is in the works but beyond that I’m not choosing cars in any particular order. If you have any suggestions on what you want me to drive next, please let me know.

This is a fun idea. I’ve enjoyed watching a bunch of your laps, good driving. My only question is why the west layout instead of the standard/full? Is it so that top speed won’t be so much of a factor, since west is way more twisty and turny?
EDIT- Just watched the rest, really good stuff! A few things surprised me. First, I didn’t expect the Huracan GT3 to keep pace with the hypercar trinity. Second, didn’t expect the 1:1 to beat all of them by that margin on the west circuit. Lastly, didn’t expect the FXX K to be that fast. Can’t wait to see what you can do with the P1 GTR, mainly because I’m having a devil of a time getting the P1 GTR to keep up with the FXX K in my comparison.
VIR’s Grand West Circuit is the layout Car and Driver uses when they do their yearly Lightning Laps. While traveling to Germany and running laps at the Nurburgring would be ideal, it’s a bit cost prohibitive so they found the next best thing in VIR. The Grand West layout offers the same kinds of turns, straights and elevation changes that you’d find at the Ring. You’re spot on there. My experience so far has been that handling tends to be little more important than hp on this layout, especially through the inner loop section. The Huracan Super Trofeo makes lots of downforce compared to the Hypercar Trinity, but it’s also a full blown race car. To flip things around, how good are the LaFerrari, P1 and 918 that they have GT3 speed and are still road legal?
I figured based on PI that the One:1 would be quicker but I wasn’t expecting it to be 3.8 seconds faster than the LaFerrari. That surprised me as well. I’ll definitely be giving the P1 GTR and Ferrari 641 a go and see where they stack up. The race car side of the list is still a little sparse. I think I’ll run a few more race cars this week.
In the meantime, how well does the Lyken Hypersport stack up against it’s hypercar brethren?

Took a few more cars out for a Lightning Lap including several of the cars in the Summer Car Pack. Also the Koenigsegg One:1 has been sitting at the top of the Production LB since April with a 02:26.613 clearing its closest rival, the LaFerrari, by 2.7 seconds. I grabbed four of the fastest production cars left in Forza that haven’t logged a lap to see if the Koenigsegg was truly the King.

This weekend’s Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta marks the final race for the Daytona Prototypes in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship. I wasn’t a fan of the early DP’s with their ginormous greenhouse but like a good wine they improved with age. Thankfully the latest DPs from the 2015 season were added to Forza 6 so while they’re in Atlanta, I ran them at VIR.
