Forza Horizon 5!

I guess that to trigger people’s feelings is an important thing to do to make a new game a big success. But that should not be sadness and disappointment, should it?

If I am interpreting this post correctly, no, any product that wasn’t directly aimed at being sad and disappointing should obviously not be sad and disappointing. In Horizon 5’s case, I think Playground Games just doesn’t care at this point. They have the most successful racing game franchise right now in the palm of their hands, they convinced a bunch of normies who don’t know much about racing games besides Mario Kart that is the genre at its best (which, even objectively, it is not), and they have made millions of dollars. To them, it doesn’t matter if their long term and loyal audience is disappointed, as long as they made their profits from the masses.

My biggest fear for the future of horizon is that the developers really believe themselves that FH5 was a success.

Have you ever watched a tv show where the first few seasons are great but then it gets dragged out season after season?

Nothing about it makes me sad, and there aren’t any new disappointments (well, maybe the one about not getting to keep the monster truck). It’s just another Horizon game that provided the usual amount and quality of diversion, and will now linger as background entertainment until expansions release.
