This game’s trying way too hard to appeal to a younger demographic, and in that effort is excluding everyone outside that age range. This game is so aggressively G rated it winds up feeling offensive to play, ironically. The dialogue makes me want to tear my hair out.
Please toss out all of these terrible Fortnite-inspired mechanics (emotes, item rarity, stupid costumes) and actually go back to your roots as a music festival focused open world racing game. Make me work for high-end cars and have an antagonist to work up to and beat. I don’t want to boot up the game and have everyone immediately start kissing my rear.
I’m not asking for characters to swear or make innuendos or anything. Just have a slightly more unfriendly and edgier atmosphere I need to work to make better for myself.
It’s also the least car-focused game in the franchise too. The Stories in Horizon 4 aren’t particularly much better but at least I was doing car related stuff like filming a British Motoring documentary or doing drift runs around the UK (even if that was incredibly shallow)
Now I’m chauffeuring female Indiana Jones around to find old statues? I’m joining this completely stupid “Lucha Libre but with cars” event that sounds like it was made up by a six year old? Even the “Vocho” story is less about the VW Beetle and more over Alejandra fawning over her dead “Papa Fernando” for an hour. Could’ve had a cool story where she upgrades the car’s PI system to increasingly higher values between missions so the game can show and explain how they work but no.
Whatever “Horizon Universe” the devs have been trying to build since FH4 needs to be scrapped immediately for the next title if they want to flourish.

The trouble is that they already are flourishing. FH5 is doing very well.
Therefore I can only see things getting worse regarding the points in your post.
I still forgive it it’s annoyances but I do fear for FH6.
So yeah, I can’t see them backing down now.
Adding a free-roam element to Motorsport however sounds like a plan that I could live with.
Let the kiddies have Horizon and give the grown ups a map to use in Motorsport titles.
For Motorsport fans and purists, I’m not suggesting it affects gameplay at all, just an open world option outside of any progression. Even as a DLC add-on for Motorsport.
Now I think of it, if Horizon waters itself down any further, I’d much prefer my suggestion.
Oh - And sorry. I went off with my idea but it has nothing to do with the story aspect.
Yeah - That can only be horizon.
What archeologist doesn’t discover ancient relics by having a hired driver transport them across the countryside at high speed?

I still like to think Playground cares about their fanbase enough to fufill this. To my exact creative vision? Probably not, but FH5 has received plenty of flack for most of the game being recycled content as well as how annoyingly kid-focused the game is.
With the fact that it’s a very real possibility that the next Horizon title will be a reboot to coincide with Motorsport 2022 they have the perfect opportunity to make something great from the get-go.
People still didnt learn anything. Do you know that people thought the same before FH5 was released? they thought, FH5 is going to be really polished because the teams learned a lot from the feedback from FH4… and etc, etc… guess what. Or dont. At this point if people keep saying nonsense like this or expecting things to change… they are completely lost.
