I can’t get Horizon 4 (PC) to start. Having the same issue that loads of people were having with Forza Horizon 3 in that the splash screen loads up and then after around 4 seconds or so the window just closes. I’ve tried reinstalling, resetting the app, various different commands/powershell scripts, WSRESET.exe but nothing seem to be working. Is anybody else experiences issues or possibly have a solution?
Did you install the latest drivers for your graphics card? The issue with the window just closing again is maybe related to the account and proper activation. Log out of your account in the Window Store, then log in, see if that helps.
Same here, bought game today and installed it and i doesnt want to start… I get to the screen where is playground at 120mph and it freezes… have tried alot of methods to work but what the hell i just paid 99.99euros for early and i cant play it early.
Thanks for the tip about Riva Tuner and & After burner I’ll give them a shot once I’m home. I’ve tried logging out then back into my account but that didn’t seem to help either. Sorry man should of posted system specs straight away. Intel i7 7700k & a GTX 1080Ti, forza is installed on my SSD. Thanks again for the help guys.
Edit: Forgot to mention I downloaded and installed the Forza Horizon 4 demo the day it released and played and completed the demo with zero issues.
Another guy said it may be down to the latest NVidia Drivers - as OBS, SteamOBS and XSplit Broadcast also crash now… since the upgrade of the drivers to the ones released yesterday
Massive thank you WildWayz & SteelAce my issue was indeed Riva Statistics Server! As soon as i uninstalled it, i booted up Forza and it worked immediately.
Once again thanks a millions guy thought i tried everything to no avail but something so stupid turned out to be the cause. Just out of curiosity, how did you guys figure out that RSS was the issue? Generally curious in case i ever come across issues with forza or even other apps again i know what to look for myself (Only been a PC gamer less than year, still learning)
For those of you that have identified the issue as MSI Afterburner / RivaTuner Statistic Server, you don’t need to close or uninstall any program and you can temporarily fix this yourselves.
Just open RTSS, and on the bottom of the profile list click on “Add”. You won’t be able to find the correct exe in any folder, but you can just type it in the text box that appears, and click “Open”.
The name you want to enter as a profile is “ForzaHorizon4.exe”
Once you’ve added the profile, just select it and on the right, click on “Application detection level → NONE”
You will obviously not be able to open the overlay in this specific game, but you can in any other game, and any Afterburner settings (overclock, custom fan speed) will still work because you can leave everything open as always.
Fixed my issue and have been able to play without any problem since.
RTSS and apps that use it such as Afterburner, Precision X etc crash quite a few games and always have. It’s a known limitation of the way it sets up it’s overlay and polls the system.
