Having the exact same issue, about to ask for my $100 back, get it together microsoft… smh
Strange, as the game is installed to my G: drive not C: as the error suggests,
I believe the one in C: is a symlink. I got that impression from investigating the folder using Command Prompt. Mine’s on D: but the path still shows C:. I think (but have no basis to confirm) it’s not the source of the problems we’re having.
My advice is to get a refund
I’m on the Windows support chat right now. The person is really trying to help me but one information I got from them was that since the release date is tomorrow officially the game still doesn’t have active support. Now I can’t vouch for the truth in that since my ticket was opened last Saturday, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Yeah, I’m getting a refund now
I was talking to someone in the Windows support chat and they told me Forza Support wouldn’t answer my issue until tomorrow, which is the official release date. I can’t speak for whether this is true or not but the total radio silence in the forums and the fact that it’s so easy to find other people having the same problem with other game as well really soured my interest in playing the game.
… and it’s the first game I purchase on launch in years, I’ve waited one year to play Horizon 3. This really, really sucks.
Uhh, can I get an update on this issue from the team? I logged into support.forzamotorsport.net today just to see that I can’t log in because my user was suspended ![]()
I suspect this is because, after five messages five event logs attached to them, I replied that I got a refund. If that was the reason I got suspended, that’s petty. I was going to use the issue as direct means of communication to see when I can purchase the game again.
If you are running rivatuner, set game detection to disabled / off / none.
Well finally got mine to work last night, ended up loading the newest nvidia driver and I had to completely exit out of msi afterburner, gamed for a couple hours without a hitch!
That’s great! I’m glad to hear that. Unfortunately this is not my case, as I stated in my first message: I’m not using any software like this (that’d be EVGA Precision sth, in my case) and no overlays either, and I made sure to update my nvidia drivers and get Windows up to date as well.
It’s a completely unrelated issue. I can tell because installing Horizon 4 broke my perfectly functional Horizon 3 installation that I played just hours prior.
Also, I don’t want to sound bitter but by reading my messages I’d be clear that the MSI Afterburner suggestion would not apply in my case, as I don’t use the software (or Riva, for that matter). I’m pretty sure it’s not related to hardware or any software I’m using, but something messed up in either Windows or the MS Store (or both).
Yeah my Horizon 3 doesn’t work either, neither do the demos for both games, every other game I have ever played works 100% fine no issues but the forza games are just broken for no apparent reason. Weird cause the game works for other people so what’s the issue here? unfathomable.
Riva Tuner! Had this issue since forza horizon 3, like others i could play it only on a second local account and it was super frustrating because not even a windows reinstall could fix this. Fh4 was even worse, ran only under a second local user and only once, had to restart the system every time after that.
If you use MSI Afterburner open RTTS server and set application detection to “none”. Should work immediately.
just purchased a rx 570 for this game since the 950 couldn’t handle recording videos and I got into Access violation - code c0000005 hell too

Same Issue with me Cant launch FH4, get no errors and my specs are better than the requirements stated.
When I start up FH4 on my PC the game crashes every time I dont know why. It’s making me mad because I can’t play it
Hello Guys, if someone has this problem still, i found a solution my Game Crashed everytime after i Pressed the ENTER Button.
You have to reset the game in the windows Game options for forza Horizon 4, After that you turn off you Internet Connection and now you Start the Game, ist should work now.
Now you are doing Stuff for like 5 minutes in the Game. Them you close the Game.
Now you can connect to the internet again.
Start the Game and choose that you want to Start from the Save Game of the Computer an NOT the cloud.
You Play again like 5 minutes and Exit again.
Now the Game works again and you can Play ist with Internet too!
The Problem was a Borken Game Save at the cloud.
Hope i could help you.
Sorry for my Bad English im from Germany
Wouldn’t this start the game from the very beginning at the intro scene and erase all progress? That’s what my game is doing currently if I reset the game via Window app. If that’s the case, wouldn’t using that more recent computer save then sync the cloud save to a point where you just started the game all over again? I’m scared to try this, but at this point I’ve been without the game for about a week now and missed my favorite season and the challenges that go with it while still waiting for Tech Support to just tell me “investigating issue”.
Hey everyone!
I’ve spent nearly 5 hours, to reinstall windows (3 times), activate administrator account, etc.
Somewhere, someone said, disconnect your secondary monitor. Finally I found out that the problem was using a secondary monitor through my integrated videocard, that i activated earlier to in the bios.
How i solved it:
(asus m5a78l-m motherboard)
-Bios
-Chipset
-graphics
-set the priority to “gfx0-gpp-igfx-pci”
And if you want to use the integrated card you will always need to set it back. ![]()
I hope i helped you!
Don’t forget to submit a ticket and include any benchmarks or error message that may have appeared.
Thanks
I bought the game 2 days ago and hadn’t really got around to playing it, when I did it seemed to be ‘loading’ for ages then a grey screen then a crash to desktop.
After going through every fix imaginable I finally came to the ‘download a random app’ from the microsoft store fix…unfortunately I then discovered that I couldn’t actually download any apps from the microsoft store it appeared to be broken for some reason I was convinced this was linked to the game crashing on me.
So another few hours of trying fixes for THIS problem, an entirely new one, with no luck.
I then thought ‘perhaps its my connection stopping me downloading an app’ so I rebooted my modem…no luck…I then thought lets try my smartphones 4G connection as an entirely new connection to use to see if this allows me to use the store…I then attempted to download an app on my smartphones 4G…it worked!..I then started forza horizon 4 using the 4G connection and it appeared to sign into xbox after which a new screen appeared which I had never seen before…the game had started correctly!
I then disconnected my phone and went back to my old connection and the game still loaded ok…finally I fixed it!
Mine was working fine last night and happily played for hours. I then woke up this morning booted the pc and it freezes then crashes as few seconds after pressing enter.
After reading the posts above i pulled out my Ethernet and the game gets an update error after pressing enter but then proceeds to run perfectly. Except obviously i dont have my saved data and its resets back to the beginning as it cannot access my cloud data. If i then try to restart the game with internet the original problem occurs. Obviously i have no intention of playing the game without the online features or wish to loose all my current progress. I’ve tried everything i can find and nothing works. The fact it runs perfectly once past the connection stage when pressing enter, there must be something wrong with the connection to the forza network.
As said before just last night all was working flawlessly. I could close the game restart it etc. Wish I left my pc on haha
I could play perfectly last night with no issues at all for hours… I could close the game, restart it etc.
I then wake up this morning and try to launch the game but a few seconds after i hit enter the game freezes and crashes.
I pulled out my Ethernet and try to launch it again, this time after hitting enter theirs an error code 0x8024402c and says something about receiving an update but then the game works absolutely fine but obviously it cant access my save with no intenret connection so its back at the beginning of the game none of my stuff or with no online features.
If I then restart the game this time with internet the original problem occurs.
Obviously i have no intention to play the game without my save or any online features etc but ive tried everything i can find online so far and nothing works. The fact the game runs absolutely fine without internet seems as if theirs a problem with the connection to the forza servers and receiving my save file.
