As these games now have a very small player population, we’ll be closing online services for Forza Horizon 1 and Forza Horizon 2 on August 22, 2023 so that we can focus on our most current games. Please note that due to the age of these games and their services, access to online functionality even prior to the official closure date is not guaranteed.
While the single-player experience in both games will remain playable, any online functionality such as matchmaking, leaderboards and the browsing and downloading of online User Generated Content (UGC) including liveries, vinyls, tuning setups, and photos will not be available from August 22, 2023.
We know our community has fond memories of exploring Colorado and Southern Europe in Forza Horizon 1 and 2, from meeting new friends on road trips to sharing liveries, photos and tunes, and we thank you all for your incredible passion, support and dedication over the last decade.

Please fix the servers first before shutting them down. The design store in Forza Horizon has been offline for years. This made the Wheelin n Dealing achievement unobtainable. Please fix this before august so people can unlock this.
In addition, 2 months notice is way too short especially from a first party studio
So are you going to fix the unobtainable achievements before the servers shut down? It’s a joke for you to announce that you are going to close the servers knowing that several achievements have been unobtainable for a long time.
It is strange seeing an announcement of closing online services for Fh1 and Fh2 when it seems the services haven’t been up for ages now I’ve never been able to do any online stuff whether it be rivals or designs on Fh1 so I Always believed the servers had already been closed lol
Same with Fh2 although recently it’s been somewhat working rivals and designs and tunes but no online play
Very confused why they announcing closure when it has seemed (mostly with FH1) that they already been closed down hopefully the servers get fixed before the closure but won’t hold my breath on it
The servers are already down and have been down for over a year. We have been begging for the servers to come back up or at least a response from admin.
Its very frustrating to know that Turn 10 is probably ignoring us and is even more frustrating to see that the reason for shutdown is small player population.
perhaps the player population is small as a result of the servers being down for over a year?
It’s just very upsetting to see that this is how the game’s online days will end and that we will probably not be able to play online on august 22 let alone ever again.
I could not agree more Fh1 has been fully down for years same with Fh2 until recently when some functionality came back.
And no attention was ever given and now they come out with we are shutting down servers due to low player population?? Are they blind as to why low population when half the game is unaccessible due to servers being down surely they can’t be that clueless to not know broken servers don’t retain population lol
Explain this to me here, how are the game servers going to close if the online functions currently active don’t even work? If this service doesn’t work, how can I get the achievements online? Are you going to solve this problem before they close the servers?
It would be nice if since they are “closing servers” on 22nd August, if they made the 1000 club dlc not require server to play. I recently got the dlcs for horizon 1 thanks to a good friend, and I can’t play the 1000 club dlc as it asks for server connection.
Playground, since your closing the servers permanently, could we atleast have the 1000 club Dlc work in single player and not need a server, that way those of us who own the Dlc can still play it and earn the medals, as it stands those of us who own 1000 club, cannot play the challenges or access the 1000 club menu because the server is required.
This would not only make me but many others a little happier as the 1000 club gives us a lot to do still please make it work in single player so it’s not permanently unplayable anyone else agree with me??
It´s amazing how PG has dropped the ball on this, the 1000 club should be an offline component since “the servers closure”. i mean they’re killing this amazing franchise little by little.
I didn’t know it was tied to online until they shut the servers down. Considering there’s no leaderboard activities or online racing, why did they make it online only?
Never understood why previous racing games in a franchise close servers when they could easily be migrated to the newer game’s servers.
Why can’t the online services of FH1 be migrated to Horizon 5’s servers? Would that be such a burden to the server?
One aspect that I also don’t understand is that why in FH1, the DLC ‘1000 Club’ is only accessible online. This should’ve been made offline. It doesn’t make any sense. This was simply the greatest piece of DLC in a racing game, as it motivated you to try all the cars in the game. I’m surprised they never made anything similar to the other Forza Horizon games. It had a lot of content that added to the longevity of the game.
It’s a shame the developers don’t care about preserving previous entries in a franchise. The games are unnecessarily dead, when they could still have a thriving community to this day.
Forza Horizon 2, Forza Motorsport 4 and 6 are also a huge loss for having their servers shut down. At least keep the leaderboards, which players put so much time into having their times recorded after all these years. These could all be working through the current Forza servers.
