[Forza GT] Meta Cars vs Meta Strategy

As the BoP in Forza GT is somewhat okayish, there are still some Meta cars for track specific. i.e the Ferrari Challenge & Lexus RC-F at Lemans. But now there are Meta strategies as well, and a no-stop strategy will always triumph meta cars. Some meta strategies include:

Hard Tyre full 8 Lap Stint at Yas Marina
Hard Tyre full race 4 lap at LeMans
Hard tyre full race distance at Hockenheimring

One of the best race, strategy wise in Forza GT hopper is the Hakone Circuit at Medium Race distance. That track cannot be completed with Med-Med. It can be Hard-Med or Soft-Hard. The number of race laps can be adjusted to get rid of Meta Strategies. I.e 5 laps at Lemans will say bye bye to Lemans hard tyre race.

What are your thoughts?

If they could balance the race length and bring more strategy into play with pit stop/ tyres then yes I’d be all for it. But thats a big if and i just cant see them doing it. That would mean increasing race lengths and at the moment that doesnt appear to be something that is going to happen.

If they can’t balance it then personally I’d rather the races with “meta strategy” stay as they are. I’d rather have some choice of strategy over none. The majority of races strategy is redundant, its med/med and you have to pit on the same lap as everyone else.

I think I actually prefered it on the old games when the GT hoppers just had mandatory pit stops and no tyre wear. At least you could choose when to take your stop which added a bit of strategy to each race.

I think this is the way to go. That’s what amount of laps for each race length option should be defined by: balanced gameplay and good racing experience. Let’s hope T10 will explore this further.

The solution is pretty simple, just add or substract 1 or 2 laps from existing format.

There will always be a Most Effective Tactic Available, but if the lap count and tyre wear are balanced enough for two different strategies to be close enough to optimal, then that’s a win.

Dont get me wrong Im not disagreeing and would love to see longer races in general anyway. I just dont see them doing it.

The only other option I can see is to make it manadatory to use two differnet tyre compounds in every race. At least that way people could be starting on different compounds to each other and pitting at different times.

I assume this will all be solved once they add endurance racing in MP. At the end of the day a medium length race is a medium length race.

having a couple circuits be 0stop with hard compound isn’t the worst thing for the medium length race in a game with dozens of circuits

Tbh, tracks that can be done on no pit hard tyres, can be done using med-soft strategy, it would give similar pace, the advantage of no pit strategy is that hart tyre users, abuse slipstream to keep up with med tyre users, and they don’t have to deal with traffic that much. Slip stream is too op in this game.

Ties into a social media post they made about tyre management in the Forza TC category. There is no such thing in my opinion! If your driving style could affect the longevity of the tyre, that would create strategies regardless of the number of laps. Same thing when it comes to wet weather driving, does anybody alter their lines? Avoid the curbs? This may be too much to ask for FM.

Well it’s true that track rubbering is not simulated property (it looks like it just global grip modifier) so u don’t rly need to use wet lines since there no rubber on track, but just grip boost

What happens when the meta car is on the meta strategy

It’s called Most Effective Tactic Available for a reason.
