One thing I’d like to add about your “cheeky” question. I already play some of the choices on the list, but The Crew (and to a smaller extent NFS) are the only ones similar to FH at all. AC, FM, GT, PC, Grid, HW are all track based racing games, so no free roam, and the racing in GTA is well, as much tongue in cheek as the rest of that game is. I chose The Crew (2) for that question as I’m not a fan of current NFS titles.

You could make the Houses and Festivals the way they were in TDU and TDU2. In other words, enterable/enable decoration mode. Make the Auction House like in TDU and TDU2 as well.
This would make the whole experience 1000% more enjoyable for me.

I’m in half agreement here. No to the decorating, but having an actual “garage” that can display multiple cars would be cool. Maybe add garage items that “unlock” certain aspects, like a chassis dyno to unlock tuning, engine hoist to “unlock” engine swaps. Maybe include a bit of “Car Mechanic Simulator” and make the player actually repair and restore those barn finds…

But now I’m tripping into the suggestion area here…

Pretty straightforward survey with good questions. Seems most of us are in agreement. As for what I would play if FH didn’t exist…I really can’t answer that. No realistic, open world racing game with such a diverse car list exists to my knowledge.

I really wish that Driver San Francisco had gotten sequels. That game was so fun, and the setting and map were both great. It could have really been a solid competitor to FH.

I still highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t tried it.

The sad thing about Driver:SF is that it’s no longer purchasable, as it’s been pulled from any outlet that hosted it (Steam, etc.) I have it on my steam account, and can reinstall it, but if you search for it, it’s no longer for sale. Similar to the Deadpool game, once Dizney bought Marvel, that game went bye-bye as well.

Really hope they get Solar Crown right and make for some more competition in the open-world racing genre

Same here, when available I like to have 1 track racer to go along with FH, neither burns me out on the other because they are nowhere near the same type of game outside of being racing/driving titles.

I had to go with The Crew as well, really enjoyed my time with the NFS’s but I don’t want to go back to any of them, I must have well over 2000 hours in GTA V over the 360 + XB1 versions but the driving physics are a joke and I do not understand how a car culture exists in that game with it’s cheap, blatant ripoffs of real cars + kids game driving physics, and the rest are a different type of racing game.

“Do you buy or sell vehicles in the Auction House?” - If I buy/sell 1-3 car per month, does that count as using AH? Like I’m not car collector, despite having hundreds of hours in game I still don’t own every car. Even missing some of the autoshow ones.
As for AH itself. I don’t like it. a) Sell price should not be connected to your painter/tuner status, b) There should be option to auction car without buyout, c) I would much more prefer FIFA style bidding (every bid extends auction time by 10sec) or hidden bids (like you make your bid and wait until finish if that was enough) Why? I have lost plenty of auctions over long loading screens.

“Do you take part in Horizon Arcade events?” - If I take part in 1-3 per month, does that count as taking part? For me it is occasional activity. IDK, it is not something I’m looking for, but if I end up in the circle and it will start soon I will probably do it. Can’t tell if I should vote yes or no.

“Would you like custom vehicles in the Eliminator?” What dose that mean? Cars from my garage? If that is what you are thinking about, then no. Everyone should use the same cars. I wouldn’t mind if they would be upgraded, but they need to be the same cars.

I’d add ‘cheating AI’ to options for this question.
It’s just so frustrating to see how they go in a sharp corner with full speed, go through deep water without slowing down at all or how they can miss checkpoints without penalties

I had to vote for “Lack of Alternative.” I generally prefer Forza Horizon and Motorsport despite their flaws because I try other games and they never quite manage to give me as good of a driving experience.

Toughest question fo me: Do you take part in Online Racing?

Yes, but only the Trial, and not every week. And only when i want the quick 10 points. So does that really count?

I was forced to pick Forza Motorsport as my “best alternative” even though it’s not a replacement at all and is practically impossible for me to play right now.

I’d have to buy an Xbox and a used copy, and play on my TV, which is still a far inferior experience to my 5120x1440 monitor, where I can play in cockpit view and not feel like I’m wearing blinders. Not happening.

Forza Horizon really does not have competition. Man I hope Solar Crown is good, though I have no faith it will be.
