Hello guys
So I got forza apex downloaded, launched perfectly, got through the beginning and all that. but once the actual gameplay starts, it all becomes very laggy and unplayable. I have a 950 so this game should be running like a breeze shouldnt it? paired up with a 4790k too so that isnt the problem. few things I noticed is though, my gpu usage is on 99% once the actual gameplay starts, gpu memory usage is also 99% which is absurd, I ran this at 1366x768 and it still remained at 99% for both. heres a bit more Screenshot by Lightshot
It never went above more than 50% power usage the whole 30 minutes i kept forza apex so there has to be a problem. I’ve ran other games no problem but this game, it just doesnt want to work. Please, any help is appreciated, thank you so much
System specs just in case:
4790k oc-ed 4,5ghz
gtx950 stock speed, tried OC but forza still doesnt work anyways
8gb ram, adata if that matters
850 evo
a toshiba 400gb drive
I have to be honest here, but I can not understand why you have paired such a low end GPU with such a high end Haswell refresh intel core i7. That is such an unbalanced setup for gaming. At a bare minimum you should be running a GTX970 in there. That GTX950 is barely better than the GTX750ti.
As for your issue with Forza Apex, do you have any programs running in the back ground? These can be things such as norton/mcafee/kasperkey (known resource hogs, especially while running a scan). Steam, origin, just anything really. Are you trying to record or stream at the same time.
Also, that is a very low storage capacity hard drive you have. Just how old is it? is it Sata 1, or Sata 2? I would be very surprised if it is Sata 3. Is the game running from that or the SSD? If it is running from the hard drive, and it is sata 1 or 2, then it is possible the drive is just not keeping up.
@lalyrn
I got the 950 a year before I got the 4790k, 1.3k was my budget(my currency) so that 950 was the best choice I got. besides, I’d rather pay a little bit more instead of upgrading from a n i5 to and i7,.
The game isnt installed on the harddrive either, its on my ssd so that shouldnt be the bottleneck. Could it just be that the game is really taxing? though, I highly doubt running it @720p low settings is THAT taxing :c
There seems to quite a few who have issues with the Rio track, and I’m guessing loading all that scenery makes it more memory demanding than the other tracks – particularly for those who have RAM/VRAM near the minimum specs.
Do you have Windows (and the pagefile) on the SSD as well? If not, moving the pagefile could be worth trying to remove one bottleneck.
