Forza 7 version DVD ROM PC ?

Hello I would like to know if we can preorder Forza motorsport 7 in disk version for PC?

As of now, no, and you probably won’t be able to. Forza 7 is said to be over 100 GB for the One X and PC. That would require an insane amount of CDs to have the game put on. They would have to put it on Blu-ray, but many PC people don’t have a Blu-ray drive on their computer, so it will probably be only digitally for PC.

He said DVDs not CDs. Still completely wrong media for him to ask about though. It would take about 80 CDs or 13 DVDs or 2 Blurays or around 1 UHD Bluray (not using them yet though).

No, it will only be available on PC through the Play Anywhere functionality of the digital version, and even then, only on Windows 10.

The days of big box PC games on the shelf are long over unfortunately… The game also takes Blu-ray disc.

Even on consoles your still faced with massive downloads these days… I don’t risk the option of playing a game early during the install…

No kidding. It says “Ready to Play” WAY too early most of the time.

DVD Rom? So like 13 discs? If there were a disc version, I’m pretty sure it would be Bluray like every other game. There is no disc version for PC though. Not sure why anyone would want that. I have 140 games digitally and don’t miss discs at all. Having to put them in every time you want to play a game is a pain as is the clutter and worrying about scratches. Glad those days are gone.

I don’t think any newer PC games are sold on discs anymore.

Some are. The Division was for example, but you still have to download updates or even large parts of game (Doom for example came with 1 DVD, but the game is over 50GB - what is the point of the physical disc in this case?.. no clue). And then there are also “physical” copies of games, where you get only the disk box with a code in it to download the game (no disks). So, yes, the era, with beautiful cardboard boxes, CD/DVD cases with actual optical disks and thick colour printed booklets inside, is over.

Why it does not contemplate sending it in box with a code anywhere in digital like EA because it has people who likes to fill well it is shelf of box of game and likes the games in physics …

For PC games all my games are on Steam and Origin now because my computer doesn’t have a drive.

For consoles unless I get an unreal deal from Xbox live, I like to have the discs as a physical collection.

How come the PC does not sell physical copies on Bluray like consoles? Is it because of Steam’s digital setup?

Because a lot of PC systems don’t have Blu-ray players in their machines. Some don’t even have DVD drives anymore. They would be aiming at too limited a market for it to be worth it.
Before downloading games became a thing you could pretty much guarantee all machines had at least a DVD player/writer (or a CD player/writer before that), partly because that’s how games and software was distributed. Nowadays you can download everything, so unless you write your own discs, having a drive is fairly useless.
It’s somewhat harder to upgrade storage on a console, so they still need to use discs, which is why they come with Blu-ray players.

Which is fair enough, hence ‘somewhat harder’ as you don’t need to do that as much, if at all on PC. You certainly don’t need to turn it off and on again for USB. I’m kind of surprised consoles do. But what I said is still correct, and your post proves it. The fact you need to swap at all shows the limited connections of a console.

I can’t see this going anywhere and I’m willing to leave it here and we go our separate ways. To be clear, I’m not knocking consoles, they’re fine for what they do, I’m just pointing out a potential limitation as things stand and games keep getting bigger.

Seagate has an 8TB external designed and formatted specifically for XBox One for $200. LOL … if you have more than 8TB worth of games on your XBox … you have more problems than where to store them.

Sarcastic answer: What is a disc drive?

Serious answer: Bluray drives are basically non existant cause to use them to play blurays you need cyberlink garbage software and nobody got time for that.

PC says no thanks, you keep your drive.
