Let me first introduce myself. I have been playing Forza since the pre xbox 360 days. I used to be an active drag racer on Forza 4, 5 and 6. I have seen the way the game has evolved and it seems like Forza is nothing but a shell that it shed back when Forza 5 was released and it has been downhill since.
Turn 10 really got the weather correct this time. I am amazed with the detail of the downpours and the lightning, the night racing. I actually enjoy the weather themes and night racing for the first time ever. With that said, I wish they would have spent the same amount of time and detail with the rest of the game as they did with the weather. Multiplayer is pretty much useless, as all anyone want’s to do is wreck each other. There needs to be an alternative hopper lobby for ghost racing… OR bring back the easy to use, and lobby visible vote to kick option…
TUNING!!! This is a MAJOR issue. You cannot save a tune and expect it to still be the same tune if you ever make any tweaks to it. For instance- I made a pretty awesome Leader board tune for the Hoonicorn on one of the circle tracks. I saved and shared that tune, people have used it and liked it, blahh blahh blahh… I also decided to make a drag racing tune for the car to save and eventually share for public. Upon messing with the car, I discovered that any changes made to the tune after you load and install it will also change the tune that was shared in real time and it messes everything up! I go from drag racing to run the circle track again, go and load up my circle track tune and guess what?! That tune is now my drag tune instead of my circle track tune, and now my actual Leader board circle track tune has been lost forever. This should be on Turn 10’s MUST FIX ASAP LIST.
Forza Drivers Cup-I like how the races are set up, and actually find the actual racing aspect of Forza 7 to be pretty easy compared to the previous games, which in turn make circuit racing fun for me since I no longer find myself flying off the track and into crash barriers on nearly every corner. The rewards per race are terrible. The credit payout is too small to make progressing on actual Forza “Story Mode” even worth it. I make twice the money and XP setting Daytona for 10 laps with 23 computer racers set on hard than I do completing a similar timed/distance Forza Cup race. My goal is to get money, and to get cars for multiplayer racing once the rest of that is figured out in the future with updates and add-ons. Forza Drivers Cup is unfortunately not the way to do that, thus making it a waste of time (In my personal opinion, I do not speak for others).
No Teams/Clubs- Yet another Turn 10 let down. Everyone wants to have their own crew of friends on this game, especially for drag racing (I will get to this soon). People have asked for it for a while, yet it still has not happened. Maybe a future update?
Forza 7 Ultimate Edition - I cannot begin to tell you guys how much I have thanked my lucky stars for not falling for that. I have seen so many people who feel upset and ripped off. My personal opinion is the game seems incomplete. Forza 6 was the same way when it first came out, and in a way is still incomplete. I spent the extra money back when Forza 6 was released and am still feeling like I did not get my moneys worth on that. I wouldn’t be able to help myself from feeling the same way based on what has been said by those who DID spend the extra money.
Drag Racing- Turn 10 seems to be staying the course with that by not spending much time on it, thus making people resort to “street drag racing” which I can agree is much more fun than what has been available since the release of Forza 5, which is pretty sad. I used to be a die hard drag racer… Used to be. Back when we had Hot lap, so that we could quickly tweak our tune after each run. Back when there was an unbelievably competitive drag racing leader board. I will admit, the drag leader board now is better than what Forza 6 had which is pretty much nothing. Bring back the Forza 4 set up for drag racing and leader boards. We have asked since the release of forza 5 to put things back how they used to be. Still falling on deaf ears.
Final thoughts as of now- If I had to rate this game on a five star scale, right now it is earning 2 stars and in danger of falling to 1 and a half stars. The game is nothing but a shell of what it used to be, despite the better graphics and more realistic physics for racing. It’s all in the details, and right now it appears it was all spent on the weather.
