McLaren continues shine.
Checo not so much.
McLaren continues shine.
Checo not so much.
Bit of shine taken off mcl today from what I’ve been reading but a great over all.
Max and rbr not in a good place
Man, I really wanted Oscar to win a race, but not like that…
He did really well in the first 2/3 of the race but he was nowhere in the final stint. Lando should’ve won. Really sucks for him, it was a pointless call to have him let Oscar through. He had 4 or 5 seconds of advantage throughout that entire stint. Frankly, if you’re going to call for team orders, why wouldn’t you do it for the driver who has an actual chance at a title?
Also, awesome recoveries from Checo and Russell.
They felt bad that they left him out and gave Lando track position. If Lando worked on his starts he wouldn’t be in this position. He’s got one lap and race pace down, he just needs to execute in the critical first moments of the race. It’s not fair but that’s life. He thinks the FIA is going to hand him a championship? He’s going to have to take it and not leave it up to the stewards, or the pit wall, or anybody who makes decisions.
He has no excuse. He should be beating Oscar by at least 10 seconds every race, and exploiting the RB20’s poor tire deg on tracks where it shines on Saturday.
C’mon Lando, more competitive spirit! Lewis and Max would be fuming if they were in your shoes.
Let’s see how he does at Spa if the weather holds up.
This just doesn’t feel like he’s learning anything from Max like Max learned from Lewis (tire management while keeping pace). It feels like all of a sudden Mclaren is head and shoulders above everyone, but they themselves didn’t see it coming after hearing about and witnessing the RB20 (The RB20 before Miami).
He’s gotta start putting it all together. He has time, but there’s no telling how much when RB and Merc are pushing hard to get into the fight.
With Max getting the 10-place grid penalty, it is almost certain that we will see a McLaren winning the race tomorrow.
Eh, this is the same mv that has won from back in the grid for the last two years.
Also lec on pole and Sergio might have something to say about mcl winning too
Max just might pull one this one out. Another bad start from Lando, Oscar showed they had the pace today too. Idk the Mclaren is so fast, he should win the championship. He’s going to be a meme if he doesn’t.
Edit: Oh my! What a turn of events!
What a drive from Russell! That was insane, incredible that he pulled off a one stop. Another strong race from Oscar, dunno what the hell happened to Lando today…he was nowhere all race long. Decent recovery from Max but I figured he’d be able to do more. The last time he started 11th he finished 5th as well just behind Charles (Singapore 23) so I guess that’s just destined to happen.
And only Checo could convert a front row start into P8 while losing another place in the championship…yikes
EDIT: Just checked F1 site, what the hell?!
In the cooldown room they were saying it was hard to stay in the dirty air, making it hard to overtake. Maybe the lower downforce setups are a bit too sensitive to this? I also expected more from various drivers, but still an amazing race.
It’s amazing how you cannot know who is going the win the race the last 7 or so races!
Checked the site too, that’s an unexpected message…
I’m a Red Bull fan but I’m starting to hope McLaren wins the WCC this year. RBR doesn’t deserve it at this point. Choosing to keep Checo in the seat for the rest of the year shows they just don’t give a f**k. He has no right to be there given the way he’s been driving lately. It’s going to cost them, not just next year but potentially this year. They could afford to do this when they had a dominant car, but now they’re 3rd best. I want this man’s job security…
Horner also needs to go, he’s completely enabling this and he’s running the entire RBR operation into the ground.
Why stick with Perez? Well sources say the team feel there are a few more things they can do to try and help Perez get more comfortable in the car to allow him to extract its potential.
They know what he’s capable of, given he finished a career-best second in the drivers’ standings last season – but they need that form consistently now.
They will be working on a strategy over the coming weeks and months to ensure they do everything they can to get the best out of Perez. Red Bull also feel like the tracks after the summer break should play to his strengths. Last season he was fourth in the Netherlands, second in Italy and won in Baku.
They make it sound like the blame is on Red Bull as much as the form of Perez. With the team being caught by McLaren and now Mercedes too, I don’t think is a good plan.
Still the only reason I can imagine, is them doing this on purpose for more development budget for the coming rules change.
On another note, the Sainz signing makes me curious about the developments Williams has planned.
Alpine have confirmed that Oliver Oakes is joining the squad as their new Team Principal, following the news during the Belgian Grand Prix weekend that Bruno Famin would step down from the role.
Jon Wheatley to Audi from rbr as tp.
Step up for him, another big loss from rbr but talent moves around in f1
No F1 tomorrow…what am I supposed to do with my Sunday?!
I watched the Olympics, and I enjoyed it.
So! Downtime eh?
There are apparently threads to pull that rbr have had a trick rear brake setup and the td earlier in the year was directed at them.
Reading the tech details… Very smart.
Nothing has been proven so to speak but lot of 1+1 equations linking rbr loss in performance.
Yes, please send help.
And then another month-long gap after Singapore in just a few races time.

And we’re back! Phew
