Ford Focus ST 13 - B Class

Hi guys,

Need your expertise on this matter to help me out making a good setup for this car.

I’m entering in a Championship of Hatchback cars and i’m looking for a versatile setup to be competitive.

The championship has some rules that are <=350hp and =>2700lb.

Forza Front Bumper and Spoiler are also mandatory.

Any ideas are welcome! =D

Do you know what tracks are part of the championship.
This is important whether you need grip speed or overall build setup

Yes, the are short circuits, so im trying to make a build with good grip for corners and good accelaration to run out of corners well.

E.1a 13.05.2015 Circuit de Catalunya National Circuit – Q 3v / C1 12v
E.1b 13.05.2015 Le Mans Circuit de la Sarthe Bugatti Circuit – C2 8v / C3 8v
E.2a 20.05.2015 Silverstone Racing Circuit International Circuit – Q 3v / C1 13v
E.2b 20.05.2015 Circuit de Prague Full Reverse – C2 8v / C3 8v
E.3a 27.05.2015 Road America West Route Alternate – Q 3v / C1 10v
E.3b 27.05.2015 Yas Marina Circuit South Circuit – C2 15v / C3 15v
E.4a 03.06.2015 Long Beach East Route – Q 3v / C1 16v
E.4b 03.06.2015 Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Full Circuit – C2 10v / C3 10v

So certainly focus the build on Torque/acceleration versus top-end speed when you select the engine components. Then, ensure grip with proper tire compound and widths. Depending on weight status at that point, you can add (if needed) roll cage to also provide some handling.

I’ll take a look at a build, and maybe we can collaborate with jameskalli91 and others on the build ideas. Then, move on to the tune. By the way, many of these circuit races allow you to change tune (not the build) between races…so, you might want to check the rules for this as well.

Here is one build to consider…

Stats (prior to tuning)…B600, 350 HP, 377 lb-ft, 2713 lbs (58%), 5.7L, SHALB 6.1/5.3/7.9/7.3/5.8, TS ~164 mph, 4.795/5.935/10.730 sec (0-60/60-100/0-100)

Build
Conversion = 5.7L V8
Engine = Sport Intake (Air Filter), and, Race Exhaust
P&H = All Race, except, Street Cage and Sport Weight Reduction
Drivetrain = Race Tranny, Race Driveline, Race Diff
Tire/Rims = Race Compound, Max Width for both F/R, Rims Advan RGII or same weight
Aero = Race F/R

If needed, we can also go for a front rim increase adding 3 lbs.

Thoughts?

.

Thanks! I will try this…

I’ve done my own setup before making this post:

Stats: B599 334HP - 356 LB-FT - 2,920 LBS - 51% , 2.0 L - 6.0/5.3/8.0/8.7/5.8 TS 161 mph, 3.829s - 9.938 sec

Engine Stock.
Conversion : Drivetrain RWD
Engine: Sport Intake, Race Exhaust, Race Valves, Race Pistons, Race Turbo, Race Intercooler, Race Oil, Race Flywheel.
P&H: All Race, except Sport Spring, Street Chassis, Sport Weight Reduction
Drivetrain: All Race
Tires: Race Compound, All Max Width, Enkei RPF1.
Aero: F/R.

I’ve tested this some times in Catalunya Nacional, and the car seems to drift a lot exit the corners. I was not able to do less then 1.24.

Before setting this I’ve downloaded a setup from a guy CQR bathurst and seemed more stable, i’ve done 1.23.

Thoughs guys?

I’ll try now this one made by RelaxedPRKid.

Keep in mind that I have yet to provide a tune, just gave you the build…so…you can run it with STOCK/Default Forza tune until I post the tune.

Yeah i know! I’ve done a couple of laps with the setup and I like it. The car is much more stable than mine(setup) and I was able to do 1.23 in a few laps… (without changing the tune).

Good job…and good luck!

OK, here is the 1st-pass tune…(ran several laps and was at 1:22.8)…and, I am not a good driver, so you should be able to do well. Again, 1st-pass tune with default (for now) gears. We can tweak as you provide some feedback. Enjoy!

Tune:
28.5/28.5
Default Gears
-3.5/-3.0
+0.1/-0.1

Pretty happy with the results. I’m still trying to reach the Giulietta time, but it will be very hard.

I’m saving the replay of my tests, the I’ll publish here.

Thanks!

Can not see the image! What time do you end up with? And, Giulietta?

EDIT - I went straight to the url and saw the results. I did not know you had a choice of cars? The Giulietta does well. Yet, you are within 1.1 secs which with a little more practice you should be abel to do. . I did notice your assists with ABS and “Auto”…you could shave a little time with M/C. Not sure about ABS one way or the other. I run w/o it.

Again, good luck!

I’ve manual without clutch. I’ve tried several laps with abs off and made worst times. But I’m training that.

Manual w/clutch it’s a little hard without wheel.

Yes we could choose some cars, but when I’ve applied to the championship the Giulietta was already picked up.

I’m still pretty happy with Focus 1.1 sec behind it seems reachable, and this is free training. In the race there will be 16 cars on track.

I’ve double checked and they are still available:

2011 Audi RS3 Sportback
2011 Peugeot 308 GTI
2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI (DLC)

Do you think I will have any real gain to change for one of this? Considering I’ve trained a lot already with the Focus ST.

For the Manual w/clutch, not sure what buttons you’ve tried…yet, I use the combination of A & B buttons to upshift (A=clutch), and, the A & X to downshift and it works really well for me. I’d recommend keep practicing w/o ABS and M w/C.

As far as the cars, all 4 are pretty good cars. I might give a small leaning towards the Subaru Impreza WRX STI. I’ll build one up with the above rules (if they are all the same for all cars!!) and let you know. Heck, we can build all 3 and test. Can you change after the league starts (when is it)?

.

For the Focus, do you have any inputs for the car to feel better for your driving style? And, I almost forgot, we can still change gears around to see if we can gain some time. These 2 items could help you with the Focus!

Note: With using ABS, you might want to drop the brake pressure to about 105 (or so).

.

OK, so I built up all 3 cars which you mentioned were still available. And, as I thought the Subaru would be my favorite. It ends up with same HP & T as the Focus, and, 88 lbs more weight, yet, it did great (IMO). For my dismal driving …@ Nat Cat…1.21.468 (basically same lap time as Focus, yet, feels better). With some practice, this car should do very well.

I just shared it (GT = RelaxedPRKid), so, check it out and let me know what you think.

Nice! I’ll try the Subaru!

Yesterday I’ve made some gear arragments.

Tell me what you think.

Final - 3.40
1st 2.91
2nd 1.89
3rd 1.42
4th 1.13
5th 0.85
6th 0.70

No, we can’t change cars. Only tunes.

I’ve only noticed now on import rule, Race reinforcement and roll cage are mandatory too. This adds more +98 LBS to the car.

edit: this lowers the pi to 598. I’ve been thinking installing street clutch That highers one point to 599

The championship starts on the 13 th of may 22:00 GMT

Twitch - I’ve my trainings in my past broadcast videos.

Yeah, it;s always good to know all these rules ahead of time. So, right now, with out revisiting the other cars…I’d stay with either the Focus or the Subaru. And, of course, add the roll cage. Then see what you can reduce as far as weight in other areas. Let me know if you’d like me to take another stab at the Subaru with the updated info. Thx!

Good luck!
.

The Subaru stats with reinforcement would be: 350hp/377lb-ft, 2883lbs(56%), 5.7L…and, the PI of B598. Or @ B600 with 2903lbs (56%). It’s basically the AWD that adds the weight.

For the Focus, you can add the Sport Flywheel, and, change the rims to 57 Optimise. You will end at B600, with 2808lbs (57%) - w/Race Roll Cage.
