SINGLE PLAYER
Forza Driver’s Cup
Solo career offers various Division-based series plus some special Showcase events. Each race offers points based on finish position. Once you meet the championship minimum points the next championship group will unlock. You must unlock the first five championships and the Forza Driver’s Cup before Elite series events will be added to the Championships. All races require you to own the necessary car, and Homologation is required; there is no option to race cars stock or at a PI outside Homologation restrictions. One Open series per championship will allow you to choose any car, but this sets the Division and Homologation rules still apply. Drivatars are automatically homologated. Series races can use Mods for better payouts; Showcases don’t allow mods but provide an Exclusive award car. Time of Day and Weather cannot be customized except with Mod Cards, but race length can be increased in the Assists menu. Completing a Championship also earns a Forza Edition car. Series do not need a check mark to earn the points required to unlock the next Championship, but Achievements and stats require that you come in 1st place in all races. If you leave a series before the last race for another series, the progress on your previous series will be reset and you will have to redo all its races to complete it.

Rivals
Rivals events put you against community leaderboard times. Choose any player from the worldwide, regional, or Friends leaderboard to be your target and you’ll race against their ghost. Beat their time and you’ll be offered the next fastest Friend or community player as your target. You’ll receive a message in the Message Center each time a Friend passes your current leaderboard position. In most cases, flying starts are allowed. Mods are not available in Rivals.
- VIP - Open to VIP member DLC owners only.
- ForzaRC - Official Forza Racing Championship events when active.
- Division - Cars restricted by Homologated Division.
- Featured Events - Featuring monthly content, contests and Bounty Hunter* challenges.
- Spec Challenge - No upgrades allowed, creating a level playing field for everyone.
- Track Days - Set a clean lap without hitting slower moving traffic.
- Autocross - Pass through cone gates cleanly to avoid time penalties.
- Drift Zone - Scored by points rather than time or laps.
*Bounty Hunter challenges have appeared monthly since launch - start date varies, but players usually have two to four weeks - with a guest Rival setting a target time. Set any time to earn a participation reward and be ranked higher than the Bounty at the close of the event to earn a second reward, both distributed as Gifts in the Message Center some time after the event has closed…
MULTIPLAYER
Update: as of July 2019, Hoppers and Leagues events are now on repeat rotation (July 5 WIR).
Hoppers
Public lobby events have Damage set to Cosmetic unless noted. Upgrades and tuning are available in public lobbies and files can be downloaded from other player cars if available. After completing a race you can mute, report, Vote to Kick, or compliment other players by selecting their gamertag. Since spring 2018, Tag and Division hoppers have rotated classes and divisions on a biweekly basis.
Permanent class hoppers were announced on April 20 and added on April 26, 2018. Meetups were added with the September 2018 update. These hoppers are continuous track days where you can drive any car. “When enough players vote for a track change, the lobby will move on.” Forza Race Regulations re limited to their own Cycled Production hopper, with penalties for cutting and collisions.
Leagues
The 12-1-17 Week in Review provides an overview of Leagues:
“Leagues are scheduled competitive online multiplayer events in the game. Leagues are updated on a regular basis and, at their core, they are a chance for players to compete with players of similar skill levels and earn rewards along the way. In Forza Motorsport 6, players earned only credits. With Forza Motorsport 7, we’re shaking everything up, from how you progress to what you can earn as rewards, and more.”
“Forza Motorsport 7 Leagues are organized along scheduled timelines called Seasons. Each League Season will typically be four weeks in duration and each Season will be comprised of four week-long Series. Series are made up of Events – traditional multiplayer race lobbies – that operate under specific rules and use a variety of vehicles, from specific make and model races, to events based around division or class.”
“Leagues in Forza 7 will organize players along five skill Bands – from “Grassroots” all the way up to “Pinnacle.” Each Band will contain five Ranks – “5” being the lowest and “1” being the highest Rank within a particular Band. Players can move up (or down) in Rank and earn promotion (or demotion) between Bands by earning League Points in races. Players will always know which Band they are in and their current Rank by consulting the main Leagues screen in the game.”
“After each League race, you’ll earn League Points that will increase (or decrease) your total League Points score. Scoring is calculated across three different areas: Finish Position, Starting Position, and Opponent Skill. As the names imply, Finish and Starting Position award points based on where you start and where you finish, and are scaled by the number of players that you start a race with. If players drop out mid-race, you’ll be awarded the points based on the number of players who were on the grid at the start. In addition, as a further deterrent to players dropping from races early, players who leave a race early will receive a last place (read: negative) points payout. With Opponent Skill scoring, points are awarded to the player based on their Trueskill ranking (a behind-the-scenes rating number) as compared to the rest of the lobby. If a player’s rating is lower than average of the lobby, he’ll receive more points for higher race finishes than he would if his rating was at the average or higher than the average of the lobby.”
“With Forza 7, each of the Bands will include a higher population of players per Band. By breaking players up into multiple Ranks within those Bands, we’re able to allow more people in, but also settle in to the skill level that is right for them. In terms of Matchmaking, players will first be matched to players in a similar Band and Rank, with players from adjacent Ranks sometimes filling in the gaps.”
“Every day you log into Leagues and finish an Event, you’ll be awarded with a daily credit gift. You’ll also earn a credit bonus for your first podium finish of the day. If you’re promoted to another Rank, that’s another credit bonus and, should you move between Bands after an event, you’ll get an even bigger credit bonus. In fact, the higher you go up the Bands, the more credits you can earn for promotion.” Other awards include exclusive cars and Driver Gear.
