So I recently was looking through the Xbox Store and I noticed FM6 was added to the store to pre-order and I thought it was cool and all, and I also noticed the different editions you can buy/pre-order through the Xbox store. I noticed that there is a Fast and Furious Car Pack, a Ten Year Anniversary Car Pack, and some other stuff depending on which edition you are looking at on the store. But then I went and looked at FM6 on gamestop.com and I noticed that not only was there only one edition of FM6 from GameStop, but also the only pre-order bonus for a physical copy is you get the 2015 Challenger Hellcat. So does this mean that the only way to get the Fast and Furious Car Pack, or the Ten Year Anniversary Car Pack, or VIP, or anything else is by purchasing/pre-ordering those editions on the Xbox Store? Or will these packs or content be available to purchase separately from the store for those who purchase a physical copy(like myself)? And does this also mean that players who pre-order or purchase the game through the store rather than a physical copy through GameStop cannot receive the HellCat? I hope someone can answer this for me because I am buying the physical copy and have it pre-ordered but I really want the content that is available if you bought the Ultimate Edition of FM6 from the store.
From what I understand, the pre-order bonuses are only Forza livery versions of the base car. All of the pre-order cars should be available for purchase in game with credits in non-liveried form (like the rest of the cars). The only exclusive cars will be the tier reward cars, VIP Car Pack cars and the other DLC specific cars. Every version gets the 10-year Car Pack and the Deluxe and Ultimate versions get the F&F packs.
I’m pretty sure all of the physical copies are the Standard Ten Year Anniversary editions going for $59.99. That means you only get the 10-year car pack and the retailer specific pre-order bonus car. I have not seen any information about Deluxe or Ultimate physical versions or if the F&F car pack will be individually available. My guess is that the F&F pack will eventually be available for purchase (just like VIP will be eventually), and that they will be offering Deluxe and Ultimate Physical versions (like they have in the past). But that is all assumption. I’m sure we’ll know more soon.
Why not order a digital copy of Ultimate then? If your goal is to own every car, getting VIP up front has several benefits. The main one is doubled race rewards. VERY handy for garage building (I get 70k credits for every race in FM5 and doubled awards from FH2 spins). Also, getting the digital copy means you can play as soon as the clock strikes the release date/time. The game will download well before the launch date too. I also hate keeping up with physical media (which can and will get damaged in my house since I have a 7 and 8 year old).
That is true but me personally am not a fan of digital gaming, I would rather just get the physical copy and buy the dlc packs or vip or car pass separately once I get the game. I don’t know, now that I think about it, that is not a bad idea though. I will have to think about it.
This post: Forza Motorsport 6 - DLC and Editions List
Says that the F&F car pack is the first DLC for the game. It will not be included as part of the Car Pass. It would appear that starting on day 1 anyone will be able to purchase it. However, people who purchase the deluxe and ultimate digital editions will get it for free.
I’ve amended the FAQ and DLC threads with this analysis, hopefully the wordiness doesn’t add to the confusion:
Purchasing scenario Q&A topics
Physical copy, from a select retailer: Pre-orders from a select retailer would receive the Standard Anniversary physical game + Ten Year Car Pack + 1 of the 5 bonus DLC cars, but not the other 4 nor the Team Forza Mazda DLC. You would need to pre-order 5 physical game copies from 5 different select retailers plus a digital pre-order in order to get all DLC. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack or bonus DLC cars. These “Team Forza” DLC cars (Ten Year and bonus DLC) will presumably be unavailable for separate purchase after release. Note, the game includes the “Team Forza” models without the Team Forza livery/tune so those DLC cars are livery counterparts. To gain access to all basic car models you would also need to buy the VIP DLC for its 5 exclusive models + F&F Car Pack + monthly car packs - buy the Ultimate bundle instead. Standard editions do not include Early Access play - buy the Ultimate bundle instead. Details on individual DLC purchase, Car Pass discount, and Deluxe/Ultimate bundles from retailers will be posted when announced. There are no sku editions for a Limited Collector’s Edition as in past FM games. Physical discs need to be present in the Xbox One for these installations to play.
Physical copy, from other retailers: Other retailers than the select 5 may have Standard Anniversary physical copies which would include the Ten Year Car Pack if labeled on the cover. You would not receive any of the Retailer or Digital Bonus “Team Forza” DLC cars. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack. These “Team Forza” DLC cars (Ten Year and bonus DLC) will presumably be unavailable for separate purchase after release. Note, the game includes the “Team Forza” models without the Team Forza livery/tune so those DLC cars are livery counterparts. Digital Standard, from Xbox.com: Pre-orders will include the Ten Year Car Pack plus the “Team Forza” Mazda bonus DLC car. You would need to also pre-order 5 physical game copies from 5 different select retailers in order to get all DLC. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack. These “Team Forza” DLC cars (Ten Year and bonus DLC) will presumably be unavailable for separate purchase after release. Digital editions do not include physical discs or packaging to keep, but digital purchases can be reinstalled anywhere at any time from your account history.
Digital Deluxe, from Xbox.com: Pre-orders will include the Ten Year Car Pack plus the “Team Forza” Mazda bonus DLC car. You would need to also pre-order 5 physical game copies from 5 different select retailers in order to get all DLC. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack. Deluxe, from select retailers: Presumably pre-orders of these from retailers would be a digital code, and may not include the “Team Forza” bonus Mazda DLC, but should include 1 of the 5 retailer “Team Forza” bonus DLC cars plus the Ten Year Car Pack. You would need to pre-order 4 more game copies from the other select retailers and maybe a digital copy from Xbox.com in order to get all DLC. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack. These “Team Forza” DLC cars (Ten Year and bonus DLC) will presumably be unavailable for separate purchase after release. Note, the game includes the “Team Forza” models without without the Team Forza livery/tune so those DLC cars are livery counterparts. To gain access to all basic car models you would also need to buy the monthly car packs - add a Car Pass or buy the Ultimate bundle instead. Deluxe editions do not include Early Access play - buy the Ultimate bundle instead. Details on individual DLC purchase and Car Pass discount will be posted when announced. Digital editions do not include physical discs or packaging to keep, but digital purchases can be reinstalled anywhere at any time from your account history.
Digital Ultimate, from Xbox.com: Pre-orders will include the Ten Year Car Pack plus the “Team Forza” Mazda bonus DLC car plus VIP, F&F, Car Pass, and Early Access. You would need to also pre-order 5 physical game copies from 5 different select retailers in order to get all DLC. Purchases after release date would presumably not include the Ten Year Pack. I was a big complainer about DLCand digital content. However, the digital Ultimate Edition FM6 appears to be a good value. The car pass alone for FM5 is $40. Also, what is the big hurry to preorder now if you are concerned with the possibility of a future physical release of the Ultimate version?
So basically you can get 10th Anniversary Car Pack from a retailer, it’ll just be similar to a Day One edition where limited quantities exist, but the only things not available for purchase after launch will be these “Team Forza” pre-order bonuses/anniversay car pack, which means the F&F Pack will be available without the purchase of a Deluxe or Ultimate edition, but you’ll have to shell out about $5. That’s just how I interpret it.
At the last F1 race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, the Sky Sports F1 commenters mentioned that a couple of the race teams were using a special paint on the front wing elements to reduce drag and prevent debris from sticking to them. So yeah
