Okay, here are some answers for you guys.
I’ve spent 32+ hours driving. That number is lower than I feared it might be so I’m feeling pretty good about it. I’m 17% complete on Stories of Motorsport and 90% complete on Showcases.
You cannot cancel out of a series once started, you will need to complete the 4 - 6 races before moving to another series, or you can back out and start a new series but lose the progress made on the one you are leaving.
The race lineup, from what I can see, remains the same for each series regardless of which car class/type you select.
I’ve had approximately a half dozen friends’ drivatars in each race, a half dozen or so names I think I recognize and the remainder are random. The friends drivatars all start with me in the middle or so of the pack. Dan’s gamertag you’ll have to find on your own, I won’t be the one to rat him out (Not sure if my friends list is visible, he’s on there if it is).
I have just absolutely destroyed a couple random drivatars while racing with sim damage, they looked terribly put out for a moment and then motored away without a care in the world. I told you these came to win.
Series are restricted to a particular set of cars by class/type. For instance, Volume 1. Super Street has six possible groups to choose from: Compact Sport Coupe, Hot Hatchbacks, Ultimate Spocom, Japanese Street Kings, Rally Day Heroes and Classic Compact. You pick one of those groups to run the first series, Challenger Series, and then pick a car from the group elegible and go race. For the next two seris in that volume, Club Circuit Series and U.S. Tour, you could select the same group and a different car from that group or a different group entirely.
Jfiler - Agreed, they break things up nicely and make things interesting.
I think that’s all the questions answered, hopefully you will all be answering them yourselves in a few hours.
