FM5 DLC needs credit card

Why Does my XBOX ONE KEEP asking me for my credit card information when IM trying to download the FREE DLC update that came Yesterday?!

i was wondering about that as well… Because I imported my XBOX One from the UK i’m not able to add a credit card :frowning: So no free content for me i guess…

You could/should change the Locale in Settings to wherever you are based and that will/should fix your problem.

“How” are you trying to download the update/DLC? You should just sign into Xbox LIVE and then launch Forza Motorsport 5, and the system will automatically tell you there is a game update and start downloading it.

Do NOT attempt to download from within the game manually. The DLC and game update will automatically come to you.

If you are still experiencing issues, hold the Big X button on the console to shut the system down, disconnect your power cord from the wall electrical socket so no power is going to the external power pack. Wait about five minutes, reconnect the power from the wall, then start the Xbox One as you normally do.

You should receive a green screen as the system checks for validity, followed by launching into the Dashboard. Now try launching the game again. And during the download, do NOT attempt to play until it is 100% downloaded, even though the system may tell you “Ready to play.”

Only the update downloads automatically, you have to ‘buy’ the cars from the market place.

No, you do not. The 345 MB update includes the cars. See Mechberg’s post on Page 1 of this thread.

The DLC is included in the download, and the cars should appear automatically when you go into Buy Cars. Stay away from the Marketplace section.

I went to the marketplace section but all worked out ok for me. I didn’t check the ‘buy cars’ section Snowowl so I can’t say, but as you said they probably were there too.

Nope, does not work like that. I got the update and even waited until the download was 100% complete, exited the game and then launched it from the homescreen. When you go to ‘buy cars’ you still have to download the car of your choice (which is divided into 4 ‘packs’) and it takes you to the credit card screen which it states you will be billed $0.00 for the mentioned vehicle. This is AFTER one does a hard reset on the Xbox One. Seems like this was one big snaffu on Turn 10’s part.

Year me to, but Why have THEY Done that Way, if it’s free Why doesen’t it say free, it says it’s 00,0!
On all the prev FREE DLCS it’s stood FREE…

Are pre-paid credit cards available in your country? I’m also on an import console (its going to be released early September in my country) and using a prepaid CC is how i got around this dreadful region restriction thing. These pre-paid cards are not regional (there literally anonymous) and work like a charm. I’m even able to use different Xbox stores with the same CC, i can easily switch back and forth.

Ok, well i Will have to look into that

The update to Forza Motorsport includes the free DLC. If you are trying to obtain it from the Marketplace, you’re doing it wrong.

Read my previous post in this thread. The download package is about 345 MB in size, including the DLC cars.

I had to ‘buy’ the cars as well after downloading the mandatory content update. They were flagged with DLC in the buy car menu, when i clicked on any of the new cars it gave me the option to either ‘buy’ it for 0.00 or buy the season pass. Not sure if this has changed now, but the initial update download straight after the release didnt include the cars (at least not for me). After downloading the cars (i had to do that for every car separately, only the two infinitis came as one pack) they showed as FREE in the buy car menu

I also done it this way but saying that other previous free cars also worked like this, charged me £0.00 x5 to my card, don’t think it matters if you actually use a payment option for something that’s free though.

Same here Woozie. I’m in Ireland.
The update came down yesterday evening. After it was finished, I noticed the blue icon in Marketplace. As you said, you have to ‘buy’ the cars but they’re free with a charge of €0.00.
Again, like yourself, 2 cars came in a pack, the other 4 are individual. After that they are available in the game in the ‘Buy cars’ section. Listed as free [green lettering]

@OP,
Was there at any time credit card information associated with your Xbox Live account. If so, then maybe delete those details and it may stop asking you for it.
I don’t use C/Debit cards, I purchase with the redeemable codes. Check your account to see if there is a credit card associated with your account.

To access your billing info on Xbox one
Go to home and select settings. In the left pane select Payment and billing.
Mine tells me to ‘add credit card’ because I have never had a credit card associated with my account.
If yours says something else, go in and try and remove/delete it.

As an experiment I clicked on ‘add credit card’. It tells me…" *************@outlook.com will be able to make future purchases using this credit card anywhere they sign in with their Microsoft Account.
I’m sure if I had an already existing credit card, it would offer me option to change/delete it but I’m not sure cos I don’t have one.

I guess there is thousands of people doing it wrong then cause thats the only way we can do it …

You do not have to use a Credit Card, it can also be a Debit Card, I have a Debit linked to my account and it “Purchased” it through that

I didn’t have to download the cars, they were already there after the update

This, free content doesn’t require a separate download, all you need to do is update the game, and they’ll automatically shown in the buy cars section
