Not a fan of ovals either but would love some american tracks like Sebring, Road Atlanta, Infineon even COTA… One other track that is absolutly needed is Motegi but we’ll prob won’t get that either

Been watching videos of this and it looks so awesome. They even have a train on Road America!

Train??

Check out GP Laps latest video racing CART at Road America in AMS2. I didn’t know it either, but there is apparently a set of train tracks that runs beside the track on the backside (After the followthrough around Carousel). No other game I have seen has ever hinted at that, and AMS2 has a freaking train that actually comes through during the race.

I know its silly and small, but it was so awesome. Highly recommend you check it out on Youtube. I would link but not sure if that’s allowed here. GPlaps is the channel name.

Edit: Just to verify, I took a look on google maps, and sure enough, its there.

But by saying that you ARE living in your own nutshell… It’s Forza’s biggest strength and weakness, different strokes for different folks. I’m from France, not used to ovals in racing, but the oval races in the BRZ Spec Series were insane fun, I was shocked! So I see them differently now. Actually we need a NASCAR Expansion for real this time!

The thing about the big ovals like Daytona, the turns are so long and they really take a lot of concentration to get through. Where a road course has shorter corners that while they may be more technical they take a lot less time and concentration to get through. The major difference is in the setup for the following corners.

But what I find interesting is that while many F1 and other sports car drivers have tried to make the switch to NASCAR, None have ever been highly successful.

If you enjoy ovals - i-racing is absolutely brilliant and you can get a reasonably good start without having to buy any cars and just racing the free content. Of course the problem being it’s a monthly sub which doesn’t appeal to everyone.

Grosjean’s doing okay in IndyCar right?

That’s not very relevant to either NASCAR or oval track racing since the majority of Indycar races are road courses or streets. And Grosjean being down at 13th, I wouldn’t exactly say he’s doing ok, well, maybe just ok. Not making any great impact.

Any hope that update 3.0 will improve the penalty system in multiplayer? Dear Turn 10: your game is a total mess at the moment: this week we got two fast placed event P2 and R class open race. Well as for now I alway ended up in a carnage festival begin hit even eleven time in a couple of laps. We can give you time to fix the bug festival and improve sounds and graphics, add some functions like change drive seat and the like, but if a lot of players start to feel that multiplayer is a waste of time your game will be dead in a couple of months. 20 minutes of practice and qualify, having to grind to use a car and than the first ret*rd ram you from behind at full speed ruining your race is something you need to address asap.

nope

plus some additional fixes
they mentioned those are not visible to us and I guess because of that they don’t tell us what those fixes are and how many that would be…

Tnx for share pal: I was hopping is some multiplayer improve vs rammers but looks like it’s not a big priority for Turn 10.

I honestly think that any hope of an automated penalty system that works satisfactorily is misplaced. I don’t think the technology exists.

24/46 races in the Indy series last year were on oval tracks. Just short of being split even, even though the ā€œroad coursesā€ were divided up into ā€œstreetā€ and ā€œcircuitā€ layouts.

Ghosting for the first 45 sec. of race is an option: maybe that way the best rammer will not be the winner.

What you’re point at is that it’s not a penalty issue, but a human behaviour one.
Ghosting players temporarily would certainly avoid turn one carnage, but there’s always turn two. If players aren’t on board with clean racing, it’s just not going to happen.

Still doesn’t add relevance to the comparison. And looking over Grosjean’s F1 stats, he was just ok in F1. But on the other side of the argument, it could be said that Jimme Johnson, who was dominant in NASCAR, was just ok in Indycar racing.

It isn’t easy to switch disciplines in racing. Grosjean isn’t really switching disciplines. He’s going from one open wheel to another.

I really think at this point the game would need a complete overhaul. Include all tracks with game. Add tons more features and be more community friendly. I don’t think anything they do monthly is going to save this. Thoughts?
