wasn’t even trying, was in a Levante most of the time, then found an RS 6, which was good, no-one else around
last round I thought I’d give the “leave the circle with 3 seconds left” a go, chose a location the others weren’t - and it seemed to work, the destination was in front of me
and I was first out of four
crashed into a rock
crashed into a house
crashed into a rock
had to slow down for other rocks, couldn’t get a straight bit of road
but I was STILL 1/4
then there was straight road
I’m in an RS 6
could it be??
three triangles appeared on the mini-map
still 1/4
nothing in the way
did the Neo thing - beginning to believe!
then I noticed the destination was under 600 m and I hadn’t noticed
and I was there!
so, 4,500 pointless Accolade points, a Regera I don’t need and a Link phrase I’ll never use
Congratulations! I’ve never won at all. Like the Open drift win accolade, this is another one I’ll miss. I always seem to come up against folk who seemingly do nothing else, unlike co-op racing.
It wouldn’t be the quickest but certainly easiest would be going into Drift then just driving around the courses in a normal manner, with everyone being ghosted you’ll just be cruising around for a few minutes at a time.
I gave up at 502 as I find the flow of playing in Open to be really poor + inconsistent due to the varying downtime between events, but I was never able to confirm for definite if the event XP bonuses from the FE versions of the Fairlady + X5 helped, I used those for the 50 drift rounds badge.
the final circle was just to the left of the volcano, I happened to be in the north of the circle and noticed the others were towards the bottom
what I think happened is, following advice from @Fishie_flop_oog and others, I left the circle early and was the first to leave - so the final destination was in my favour, along the road north of the volcano
the others must have sped off south and south-east only to find they’d put some pretty difficult terrain in their way when they had to reorient - so they might have had similar experiences with hitting things, there are lots of rocks there - they didn’t show up on the radar until I was past the rocky area
the road isn’t that straight for a while so it’s either go slow on the roads or go slow off the roads, though knowing the route gets past that - I don’t really know the route but a lot of it is straight road after a certain point, the one who gets to that bit is likey to win if in a fast enough car, which the RS 6 certainly is
For Open level, i was under 500 about 2 weeks ago and decided to try leveling up doing playground games when not doing rivals and building cars … as ive gotten tired of dealing with all that comes with racing other people. The games are pretty casual and stress free and i gained about 100 levels in 2 weeks. Ive been averaging almost 2 levels per each 3 event championships, or whatever they are called. If theres a small lobby, they go pretty quickly, too. I level up faster in games than drifting.
yes, I did, think you mentioned it somewhere recently and I’d forgotten that I’d managed that ages ago!
I don’t think it’s TOO hard but luck helps a lot (eg, challenged by a high-level car that is driven by me so crashes into invisible rocks all the time so giving you an easy win)
in H4 I got it late, think around the time H5 was released
the population was a bit lower than in H5 now but the idea was everyone in the TrueAchievements session was in a convoy and joined eliminator at exactly the same time, tended to put everyone in the same Eliminator game
I wonder if they ever asked Billy Gibbons if they could use his ZZ top car in the game, would have been perfect
You might have difficulty finding a match from time to time, but these are always sprints and always in the fastest cars possible. Even if you screw up, someone else will finish and trigger the 30s timer to move on to the next race. It’s not impossible to do 100 levels in a day if you can keep a lobby going.
After three days of grinding my way from about level 950 in Horizon Open, I finally reached level 1,000 today and unlocked the gold badge. And apart from dealing with its occasional appearance on the Festival playlist, I shan’t be bothering with Horizon Open again because it’s probably the most uneven playing field I’ve ever encountered.
