FH5 is set in Mexico, so why the EU focused car updates?

I feel like PGG isn’t up to snuff with the car community or Mexican car culture as many cars are missing from the NA and SA market in favor of basic hyper cars and sports cars commonly seen in the EU. They spent so much time on the atmosphere and immersion of my neighbors from the South, but have not done great at providing us with the hottest whips in the southern hemisphere. Has no one from PGG watched a 1320 video…? The Dodge Magnum and F150 Lightening are on the right track, but then we unleash a swarm of Ferrari’s? As an enthusiast in America, I have to call this out. Sorry, but you are going to need to add a bit more to the car roster for legitimacy sake. Anyone else agree?

The devs think we’re still in Italy from FH2

Same thought… We aren’t in Italy or England anymore. I don’t think they spent enough time in Northern Mexico when doing research.

Playground Games is a British company based in Leamington Spa, England. It’s safe to assume they mostly focus on vehicles they have easy access to within Europe.

A) Licensing
B) The game isn’t just made for Mexicans

In response to B, it’s in Mexico, but they barely have any cars from there. They had a bunch of British cars in FH4, so it makes sense that they would focus on cars that fit the location.

You can paint them to make them Mexican!

Sí.

Nobody said the game was made for Mexican’s. You are missing the point.

It made me laugh that the 80s & 90s MR2 were hard to find cars in FH4. In the UK they are still sooo sooo common. Yet in Mexico you can just buy TVR Speed 12’s and end up with so many from gifts

Just have to smile and nod.

1.) Not very much native Mexican car brands available
2.) Large community and players from EU
3.) By the way - most EU car manufacturers are producing in Mexico, like BMW, Audi, VW, MB …
4.) There will always be differences in preferences, if you (theoretically) ask all players. Guess a lot will like these “EU” car models and will be happy to recieve more. Same with US or Asian car brands

The Mastretta that Hammond drove on Top Gear is the only Mexican car I can think of that could be added.

It’s not so much about native Mexican brands as is the culture of North American cars in Mexico. All of those models are missing in favor of the basics and then alot of European offerings. American trucks are huge in Mexico and they have barely touched on any of them, just basic off road versions. Street trucks are big in Mexico, not just lifted off-road Baja trucks. That’s not touched on at all though. There are plenty of NA only vehicles that are left out. I think maybe Mexico was just the wrong location if they had a projected roster focusing more on cars not even available on this side of the pond. For many of us, the game is stale and just isn’t making sense. Doesn’t feel domestic at all, it kills the immersion which is the only thing the game has going for it at this point. That can be the reasons, but then that still leaves it at just bad cards played.

The game is set in Mexico… but it’s about a traveling international motorsport festival that draws participants from all over the world. So I understand why the game is still full of cars from all over the world.

American, european, and japanese cars are known across the world… correct me if I’m wrong, but are there many mexican cars that are well known outside Mexico? Honestly asking.

Yep. Plenty of American and Asian vehicles are made in Mexico, too. Many are sold in Mexico but often under different names.

Not the problem, if you were in the car scene and understood the Mexican car scene, you’d understand what’s wrong with “Here’s a bunch of VW’s, Ferrari’s and a few Porsche… Oh yeah and some Ford car” They should have kept it in Europe. Kinda a slap in the face to the America’s. No recognition for the cars we drive and love.

Yeah but it’s not really a game about the NA/Mexico scene, is it?

The main character’s voice has a euro accent, many of the radio DJs have a euro accent, the drift club guy is euro, etc…

It’s a game series about europeans touring the world.

As much as I want a FH set in Japan, I’ll have the face the fact that such a game wouldn’t really be about Japan and the Japanese scene… it would be another game about europeans going to Japan and reacting to it. Bringing the same stable of cars with them.

Forza Horizon series will never custom tailor its vehicle lineup to the geographical setting for each version of the game. Doing that could greatly reduce the game’s appeal to a global audience.

This…

Google the GMC Jimmy they gave us, and note that 80%+ of examples are lowered street trucks…
An option conspicuously absent our Jimmy… Mean while, I can slap off-road set ups on hyper cars and lulz my way into off-road races. Tee hee.

Ummm they are doing exactly that by flooding a game set in the West with cars from Europe. What do you mean?
