FH4 update Mar 2021 (no 1 or 2) broke the opening sound on my Xbox One X

Hi all!

Since one of the March 2021 FH4 updates, the Playground / Microsoft opening sound during the animation stops into silence after a few seconds.

Please fix.

Thank you

Since nearly everyone complains about that thing, I thought they muted it on purpose. I’m not mad that it’s muted. shrug

It is fixed. The only way they could fix it even more would be to remove the first few seconds of noise too :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait, the sound suddenly stopping and there being a gaping silence for several seconds while the animation continues is intentional? And that’s meant to be better? Is this part of Playground’s new era of ‘we are listening to you’ initiative, since Microsoft seems to have perhaps realised that PG’s new generation of managers mostly hold meetings to listen to each other? (Though I am by no means sure if blue-haired influencer-style YouTube videos are any more effective in getting any real work done. It all boils down to artists and programmers, doesn’t it? The rest usually just ride on their shoulders. BTW, would love it if some artist / programmer would quote this is in an internal email with the comment: ‘This! So much!’)

Ha, well who knows. I prefer the silence to the deafening din we had before. Letting us skip the splash screens altogether on PC and Xbox One like they can on the ‘Series’, would be even better.

I had always asked myself if the non-skippable splash screen was part of loading the game, or if one could actually start playing sooner by skipping that. Would be great.

On Series S and X, they can skip it. On PC if you look at task manager you can see no loading (disk activity) takes place until after the point where you click ‘continue’. So there appears no good reason not to let us skip it. But PG are PG. It has been 2.5 years and I doubt they’ll give us that improvement now.

Would be great. But of course, this way MS can say how much shorter the load time is on Series compared to One…

Haven’t heard it on my Series X. shrug

I am not sure if you misunderstood my post but it looks like it.

Silence is Golden, the Panic Button ‘ping’ on Series X was deafening.

That seems to be it. The frustrating thing is that the actual loading time (on SSD) is far less than the time you have to watch the unskippable splash screens, which is rather ridiculous.

Some of the stuff in-game is like that too. The time spent fast travelling, or changing cars, is quicker than the time the game forces you to watch while the camera slowly pans round and then comes to a gradual stop, before it will let you drive or access a menu. It’s really poor.

I wouldn’t say the sound on the loading screen stops - on my Xbox One X, it only stops once the tyre smoke goes across the screen…?!!

^ this is how it is for me on PC, is it not like this for you then?

That is interesting. It abruptly stops even earlier for me, before the PG animation has fully finished.

Ha! So they did botch it. Must be the coporate MS culture of banana-W10-updates slowly infiltrating down to PG.

And because nobody at PG officially or in reality reads this easily coverable, because basically weakly frequented forum, it will probably take weeks to fix.
