FH4 PC Online Problems

Is anyone else having problems connecting to Horizon Life on the PC?

I’m running Win 10 Pro and having an issue that I cannot tie down to hardware or settings and wonder if anyone else has had this type of issue. Don’t be afraid to be technical if you know a solution

I haven’t played on PC in a while and found that I could not connect to horizon life. Infinite searching for session message but no errors indicating a connection error even after over an hour of waiting.

Online works perfectly on the Xbox so I don’t think it’s a network issue on my end with no settings changed on the PC or network since I last successfully connected to FH4 online. FH5 works online without error

The common technical issues seem to be unlikely.

Teredo is set up and working correctly (checked with terminal and group policy) with all required services running. Router NAT is open and the designated port forwarded on the router with no firewall or DNS issues. No issues with the network switches either.

My internet service natively supports IPV6 so Teredo shouldn’t make a difference either way because there is an IPV6 fallback. My DNS/DHCP server servers devices with both IPV4 and IPV6 static addresses

FYI, i was online with both my Steam and Store Accounts last night. Was able to connect to FH4 Horizon life on both accounts with no issues. I’m not going to try and talk you through technical resolutions as i am fully aware of the amount of info you have made available about on line issues and Teredo settings  But if i can help in anyway, providing config or any other info about my system, please get in touch

Recently had this issue.
My only fix has been making sure you have the latest windows updates, and for whatever reason, restarting my PC whenever I want to play online on FH4. 5 works flawlessly, it’s just 4 that has real trouble connecting to the servers.
My game also takes anywhere from 5-20 minutes after the initial launch to connect to the servers, so, be patient.
Not ideal, but this has been the only solution that worked.

Yeah, I’m having an issue in the Trial online. I can get on, but then halfway through the race, I’m disconnected and can’t continue. Everything was fine yesterday, but today, just having connection problems.

It’s like as soon as they announced the delisting, the servers wet the bed.
I’ve had nothing but problems the past few months. I’m guessing they reduced the number of servers or server quality once they decided to delist the game. Now it’s in a poor state.

@ksmith5666 Thank you. I appreciate it. I’ve never had a problem with FH4 online that wasn’t the teredo/networking switching itself off or needing re-configuring but oddly, the xbox version works fine which leads me to suspect that it’s either the unreliable windows network stack or the game itself

Oddly, the auction house, shop, backtage etc all work so there is an online connection, it’s just the multiplayer aspects that are refusing to play nicely

@enf0o I’m running the latest build of win 10 with all updates applied albeit with a few unwanted things MS force on us removed (Copilot, one drive, office, teams crap etc) with a DNS blocks on certain MS domains (this doesn’t cause an issue for gaming and is applied network wide) but this has been my remove bloat and everything useless approach in windows for years and a big part of the reason win 10 is going to be my last windows

I only use windows for recording forza and editing videos so every time I want to play, windows is a fresh boot from a duel boot menu.

It does make me think that there is scaling back on the server provision making it difficult to connect because from what I can see on the Xbox, FH4 is still a very popular game. It’s in the interest of the platform to encourage engagement in the latest titles and discourage people from playing older titles so this may be a planned effect

There may also be an issue with the windows version of the game

@StuartATrueRed This has been a problem for years and used to happen to me a lot at the height of the game. I think I read somewhere that it was linked to server capacity with too many people in game and with this being the final playlist, there are people doing the one last time thing. This is also where my renewed attempt to play came from

It looks like I won’t get a fix for this which is fine because I can play the final season offline and find a way of (reliably) recording the trial/pgg on the xbox
