FH3 Moderator Pro Tip: Ban Threads

Ahh, okay. My bad, I assumed if it was a permanent ban it was from all Forza games.

Oh, okay. I personally think a ban should cover all Forza games so that they don’t spread their garbage onto other titles during a ban period. Just my two cents, of course…

I’m 95% sure it’s all Forza games. Unless the ban is issued by Microsoft rather than T10.

I love the ban threads. It amazes me the amount of people who post pedo stuff on the Marketplace then come on here wondering why they are banned.

Yeah but this way, they give microsoft more money before they get banned again…

Yeah but that doesn’t change my belief that a ban should cover all Forza games. I guess money > morals these days…

Yeah, I think a ban should be a ban from the whole franchise, but sadly it’s not how they work. I think there’s probably legal issues too. If you buy a game and are automatically banned from the start, you’ve bought a product that isn’t as described so Microsoft have to stay within certain retail selling regulations. That means if it says online play on the box that’s what you should get. Then if you misbehave they ban you as you accepted the TOS and then they are legally within their rights.

If there are laws governing this, then that would be different and of course Microsoft/T10 would have to abide by the law. I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know about every single law in the books.

I’d guess as long as you can continue to use the product you paid for, no law has been broken in most countries. You just can’t go online with it, or at least that’s my impression from what I’ve been reading. (You’re banned from the community, not the game itself, right?) I’ve never been banned, so I don’t know firsthand.

If someone is banned, they should receive a direct message explaining why. It is simply common courtesy, and I’d venture to say that that is something they are entitled to.

As for store front vinyls, I had just bought my 1983 Vandura and multiple “free candy” vinyls showed up in the randomly selected vinyls. Did I report them? No. Have they been reported by now? Probably, but going around the marketplace reporting vinyls comes off as “you must be real fun at parties” to me, and that’s not the kind of player I want to be. I don’t want to be the vinyl police. I did however underestimate how many children play this game, but that still doesn’t mean I’m going to go around looking for vinyls that are even slightly offensive. To me it isn’t something that is worth being bothered about, not that I have seen any other offensive vinyls apart from those “free candy” vinyls, because I don’t go around the marketplace looking for vinyls to report. I have levels to move through, boards to smash, and events/better things to do.

As for my Vandura, I ended up choosing an “acceptable” vinyl, but that only lasted for a short time and now it’s all one OEM color.

Bad racers I will gladly report, however…I get pushed into a wall if I brake even the slightest bit earlier than the people behind me to enter a turn, and I’ve been pushed to the side so I miss checkpoints on plenty of races, mainly cross country events.

It doesn’t matter how inoffensive or offensive you think it is. Posting Pedo related items breaks the t&c’s and thus is off limits. What don’t you understand about that? If you had a job where you had to deal with both the victims and perps of this sort of crime you’d soon change your mind about it not bothering you.

Good. I’d expect something like that to be against the terms, but I’m still not going to go around reporting vinyls. That’s just not how I want to play the game, and it’s not something I feel strongly about.

needed the bump, couple regulars forgot already

I assume the use of mjolnir is reaction to modding or something to that effect. But I will wait to find out via mod response if they do so.

This thread really needs to be stickied!

(Perhaps to some people’s PC screens or foreheads…)

I disagree. I never even look at stickies, there so many, I tend to forget about them. Bumping is probably the best for views. That way it’s moving up and down and you can see new posts etc

People not racing, but rather waiting in corners or driving the wrong direction with the sole purpose of causing havoc… yep, I totally think a ban is in order for those situations.

The cars still ghost in those situations don’t they? I don’t disagree that that is really bad behavior, but I’m saying it’s more subjective and a ban is pretty brutal. The original comment was reporting for “ramming” remember

Just go look at the locked threads in the FM6 sub forum and you’ll see 99% of them were banned for ramming/intentional wrecking. However I’ve not seen someone banned in FH3 for it yet almost all of them have been livery related.

There is nothing subjective about repeatedly ramming into people and forcing them off the road, etc.

Lots of things can make it seem like that is happening, especially latency on a driver close to you. I’ve seen it where I’ve been BUMP BUMP BUMP 'd down the road then watched the other guys video and he never touched me. Seen it the other way around too. Got accused of throwing people off the road until I showed them the replay where it was nothing but close racing on my screen.

No one has yet shown me a case where someone has been banned for this, so I think the whole conversation is moot.
