I actually have taken the time to explain to my kids what is and isn’t acceptable even on the internet, and why things have age ratings and what they mean. For those children “who don’t know any better”, their parents have failed them and my children should not be exposed to the fruits of that failure. That’s why we have the TOS and COC. While TOS are actually hard to enforce legally, they do cover the company using them to a certain degree, and in the instance of a game they are certainly within their rights to withdraw online privileges. As they indeed do.
I spent half my time online over the weekend reporting stuff. Swear word laden designs on the storefront, despicable behaviour online, the usual roulette of player idiocy. My wife and I went online to play some Horizon and out of 11 racers 5 had to be reported for divebombing, ramming, parking in the road, and colourful language including threats. None of it was done by children who didn’t know any better, it was all adults who didn’t care.
Couldn’t have put it better myself. I would point out that many of the idiots who design this stuff are seasoned Forza players with pretty high Forza totals …
I agree with everything you say, and came here to say “right on! report those suckers!” until…
Wait, what? Are you seriously reporting people for hitting you? Language, OK. Naughty vinyls, sure. But “ramming?”
I think the bans are only occurring when T10 finds liveries and vinyls that violate the TOS. If you are contributing to the bans because of “ramming” I’m stunned.
I keep my headphone off while racing because:
Vulgar language constantly
I get accused of cheating constantly
The turn 1 wreck has been a staple of online racing from the beginning. Everyone accepts it (and the good guys even profit from it)… but reporting it? Please say it ain’t so.
On one hand, racing in FH games is far more hectic and chaotic than in FM, way more rough-and-tumble. It just doesn’t make sense to report every bump, or to block every gamer who trades paint with you.
That being said, a Forza player with any experience at all can tell the difference between a “racing incident” and being used as someone else’s brakes. Torpedoing someone in a corner, wrecking someone to prevent them passing you, or intentionally messing with folks who are racing clean is just poor form in ANY racing game, from Forza to Mario Kart. These people are as banworthy as the “FM3 Trainer” users, IMO. You wanna drive like THAT, stay in SP campaign.
Agreed completely, it’s people who do that that give online racing a bad name. Even puts people off trying online racing. There was one thread the other day asking about it, and the guy said “So we can’t ram people, that takes away half the fun”. I was sat there just shaking my head.
Yeah, to the vulgar language comment… holy crow it’s way out of hand online, no matter which forza game you pick. The drag racing in FM6 seems to be the worst.
Yeah, the difference is who is doing it! When I bump you it’s a bump, when you bump me, it’s a RAM!
It’s exactly why I don’t play with my headset on.
I’m answering my own concern here by saying I think no one has been banned for this reason. But still, gimme a break. Reporting someone for hitting your imaginary car? Yikes.
Reporting for ramming???..too right !!! My son loves driving around and enjoying the scenery and is constantly being followed around and rammed. This is upsetting for him and doesn’t understand why people do it…Don’t need idiots like this on the road spoiling his fun or others!
No, the difference is the result. A bump is exactly that, it doesn’t really effect either driver too much and usually only happens once… A ram has a significant effect on the other driver, such as running them off the road, and occurs multiple times per race.
Yes, people have been banned for this, at least they were being banned in FM5 and FM6 for it.
That’s plain scary if true, I don’t remember that happening. So Turn 10 actually said “you have been banned for intentionally hitting the other cars?”
BTW before we go down the road I know we’re heading, I don’t hit the other cars. I avoid them to a fault because it doesn’t make you fast and that’s the only thing I care about. I even avoid the AI cars. I just don’t expect others too. OK carry on.
One thing I’m slightly curious about is that when a person gets banned, do they get banned from just that one forza game or is it a blanket ban across the forza universe? So if someone was banned in FH2 or FM6 or even older games on the 360 can the person come back on a different game?
You’re both incorrect. It is the single game. And they rack up a ban, then jump from F5 to Horizon to get their playtime in until they’re banned there so reverse back. We’ve got people permanently banned for violations in Horizon, FH2 (360), FH2 (X1) who are actively spreading their stuff in FH3 now. If it is a major infraction, like credit hacking, they and their console are gone permanently from the Forza/Horizon servers.
