FFB, is it fixed? UP: [PC] Thank the gods, Pray for [XBOX]

Jarhead,
As blue said earlier in this thread there are some bugs with the FFB on the PC so you may not feel what I feel on the Xbox. But I have had 3 Fanatec wheels, a TX for a year ( needed a new wheel for the Xbox One and Fanatec did not have rights to the new format for a year ) and an old Microsoft 360 wheel and I have not felt a game feel this good ever. Now keep in mind I am not the best knowing what I want in FFB settings. I usually moved some sliders around, semi blindly, and got it feeling what I thought it should. I was never able to get it close to my real life car feel though in any game. “Blue” was instrumental in helping me get these and he doesn’t even know it yet. ( my next message😃) he posted a very nice list of the FFB adjustment titles and how they work, what to look for, and what happens when you move the slider either way ( so if you like something but want more you know where and which way to move the slider ). I turned everything off but the Force Feed Back scale. I then one at a time found the best feel for each individual option slider involving FFB. When I found what I liked I wrote it down, turned that setting back off and did the next one. After they were all done I set them all with my best found setting and WOW! …it felt. Close to my real car as I have ever felt on a wheel. ************keep in mind though that any previous settings me looking for something and trying to blindly get there. There may be much better settings for other games too now that I finally feel what is really possible. It’s hard to know great if you have never felt it. It’s hard to compare when you only have one and I always thought I had a good setting…I was wrong!
I may find many games will feel better with different, proper setting so I will revisit some of them too.
I always bragged up Assetto Corsa for thier FFB but who is to say I blindly got that really good setting by luck…also who knows how much better I can make it.

This is by far the best feeling Forza I have ever felt but I am not sure if it’s T10 or my proper settings that made the difference.

Actually there is a DOR setting on PC, just for some reason they chose not to name it or describe it as to what it actually does

This list but I can’t find your original post with the 2 informative statements be,ow it on FFB under and FFB min. You described the tire flex and the behind center they were big for me understanding the mechanics of the FFB. Until the. I never knew that stuff.

@Dan,
I will wait before trying out more setting on the FFB until the bug is fixed that is causing my wheel to not receive all the proper FFB signals.

Ok Blue,
That bug is PC only though, right?
I am on the Xbox One. I hope there is not a bug on the Xbox as I want to keep these settings. Best I have found yet by a long ways and I beat my best time by nearly 4 seconds in the Porsche and for me it is pretty fast 2:40.0XX. I have saw some as low as 2.31 but I have never been a fast driver as I am too worried about staying clean. I am so exighted for FRI at 12:01 am…WOW!

As far as I know it’s only a PC issue. still, with the settings I used thanks to Aaron I was able to run 2:33.6 around dubai, need to learn the track better to improve my time further

Blue,
My point of mentioning the 2:40 time was to show you how much better I did with it not to boast the time:smiley: I have never been a fast driver and can pretty much bet you can make the 2:40 time much lower if you drove instead of me…true story

What you don’t know is how much you helped me with your post. The one where you listed every FFB title and explained what it did, how to feel it, what happens when you adjust it, and even which way to adjust the slider to get the desired results. With your info instead of blindly adjusting till I was able to get close to what I thought was a good FFB feel I liked in the past which I now know may not have been as good as I thought.

I took everything down to 0 exept the FFB scale I left at my target of 75. Trying each setting with that being the only setting applied, tried it at 0 and at max then found the sweet spot after several smaller adjustmentsand wrote it down. I then turned it off and repeated with the next setting. Once they were all done I set everything to the best setting…
WOW! Best I have EVER felt!
Your 2 descriptions below your list helped me HUGE. With that info I could create a mental picture of what was causing the FFB and better understand what to look for and what to adjust it to, by feel, for a much more proper setting.

Prior to your list and advice I only blindly found a setting I thought felt good but without ever feeling great, what is great? At one time I thought my cooking was pretty good…then going to a nice resturaunt and tasting what the chef made my cooking is not as good. Can I make my prior recipes better and close the gap some…yes, but my point was I didn’t know how good, good was till I felt it and now everything I have played in the past may be able to feel WAY better with a better knowledge of what’s possible.

Thanks soooo much
Dan the Dartman

Sorry, couldn’t help myself haha

This is exactly why I suggested to Aaron to update the descriptions as most of them don’t tell what the setting actually does and leaves people to guess which usually leads to a bad experience.

No worries at all, I’m glad it turned out to be uselful

Hello everybody!
Just want to write my impressions of the demo’s FFB.
I’m an experienced player regarding racing games, I drove every sim out there as well as simcade, but I’m new to forza motorsport series.
Because I’m used to use a wheel in racing games I just can’t drive the car with a controller, even if I do so I’m very bad at it, that’s why I would like very much Forza to improve in this aspect.

When I first time tried the demo 19th september, the wheel was quite off, you couldn’t really feel any oversteer and the car wasn’t catching itself as it should do in a slide (with all the ffb settings at default).
On my second try (26th) I could see some significant improvement in the FFB, it’s like FFB started to actually work, the wheel was catching the car finally but still it work’s kinda artificial, the wheel isn’t smooth.
What I would like from the FFB is more feel of the road, not like driving on ice, but actual a force on the wheel which would make me feel I’m driving on a surface which is not completly flat and clean.

The main thing I’m concerned more about is that I want to be competetive against controller users, and If I can’t do so because controller users have physics aids then it doesn’t make me want playing this game, because that isn’t fair.
Make the wheel users able to have the same pace or add the same aids to wheel users too, but I don’t want to loose against a controller user just because I’m using a wheel.

Another complain I have is the way that clutch works.
I would really like if in manual \ clutch we could downshift without using the clutch because you can do so IRL. Of course you can do so now, but downshifting takes too long.

Looking forward to FM7, and I really hope for improvements for wheel users!

Thrustmaster T500RS

Steer, Accel, Decel---------0-100

FFB scale-------------------70
DOR------------------------430
Steer Sens--------------------50
Steer Lin-------------------100
FFB under steer-------------0
FFB min---------------------70

I think that if you choose manual + clutch you have to use the clutch mate, anyway there’s no point in not using the clutch downshifting…

Technically some of the Thrustmaster wheels have an “auto-clutch” feature where the wheel will clutch for you, so you can choose manual with clutch in game and not have to actually use it getting all the benefits and credit rewards of using clutch! I don’t have a TM wheel so I can’t vouch for this myself.

I’m pretty sure his point was that he doesn’t want to have to clutch when downshifting. I’ve never actually done that IRL.

Have you driven a manual? I prettt much only use my clutch for taking off and coming to a stop. Look at a video of v8 supercars or nascae on a roas track. Raeely do they use rhe clutch.

Your keyboard needs bug testing!

:sunglasses:

Yup, I had a Mazda 3 until someone smashed into it when I was at a stop light. Also many work trucks were standard and my dad’s old Porsche 928.

If you’re talking about your real-life car, I’m pretty sure you’re doing some damage to your transmission.

As for Nascar and V8 supercars, they have a special transmission that allows them to bang the gears like that. A transmission in a standard road car does not shift the way those cars do.

However, in Forza, I do sometimes downshift without the clutch. Usually in a moment of panic when I’m too hot in a turn. Rarely do I shift without the clutch.

First time hear about it, can you please share more information about how I can use that “auto-clutch” feature?

@T10Driver A few questions here.

  1. Will we be able to adjust the camera position on the cockpit camera views? As to the dashboard in some cars it’s set too high or too far away. For example in GT2 RS it looks like i’m siting right under the roof, while in the NISSAN GT3 It’s too far away and the view is very limited. I would be very glad if I could move the camera more forward.

  2. Will we have any FOV adjustment sliders?

This two features are crucial for a PC racing game, if they are not planned for the release, please consider of adding them in the comming updates!
Thanks!

I Google searched and found this:

If I understand it correctly, auto-clutch works by sending a dual signal every time a shift is made. The clutch signal is automatically sent at the time of the shift.

It’s only for Xbox one not PC =(
