This is the 1970 Ford GT70, a unique prototype car built to replicate the success of the GT40 from the racetrack, only this time on the rally stage. However, to qualify for rally competition under the FIA’s regulations, Ford needed to produce 500 homologated cars and the GT70 only had six.
As WRC rules changed, production costs climbed, and the successful Ford Escort only improved in its performance, the GT70 became an expensive “what if?” It’s a question Forza Horizon 4 players can now answer as the 1970 Ford GT70 features on the Winter Festival Playlist, unlockable at 80% completion.
This week is also your chance to unlock the 1974 Hoonigan Ford Bronco, which features a special 5L Coyote Engine that kicks out 420-horsepower, plus rebuilt suspension, gear shifters, racing wheel and seats. It’s all very Hoonigan and all about being fun to drive on-road or off-road. Get yours by winning the Into the Wilds Seasonal Championship.
You have until Thursday, April 27 to complete these events and unlock the associated rewards:
Racing line for the Strathbridge Speedzone. Come from the left, I started all the way at the other speedzone in front to get up to speed. Turn leading to the bridge, brake early, that way you can make the turn while the line is still red. There’s 2 brake lines on the C turn before the exit, go past the first one and brake right before the second one. This is the part where most people lose a lot of speed and fail because they drift and accelerate through, sliding loses speed, you want to brake and then have the car stable to accelerate as you exit the turn.
One thing i’d forgotten is that the zone cheats you going east to west, the timing is just wrong. So as you say ,it has to be done west to east.
I liked your tune, but kept hitting 138-139 mph with it Actually did it in the rs200 with a x class tune ‘winter speed zon’ got 143 mph
For the Hythe speed trap i start in a field where the toft speed zone sign is.
In the same rs200 as before, set a course for Hythe speed trap on the map and just head straight at it,knock a couple of the walls over then rewind and use the holes created to hit the road flat out.
Can’t remember how hard or not it is doing it ‘properly’ (very by the no. of people attempting it on the map),but the above method is easy
Makes sense, the Hoonigan RS200 is nimbler than the 599XX. Another tip is the rock wall before the bridge can be cleared to cut the corner turning into it slightly for a better line.
I actually dropped the turbo on my 599XX in that run to more consistently hit the target but you’re right 1km/h over it is cutting it too close.
With the turbo I cleared 145mph but it’s harder to do it cleanly, it enters the speedzone with a much higher speed as a buffer and has a very long red braking line for the bridge. Same thing braked early there, but with this tune, I had to brake twice on both red lines for the C turn before the exit.
Hythe house, used the Mosler tune on road from the south. It’s not tough like the zone is but getting the line right and dealing with traffic is important. Tune is shared. Same used for the danger sign.
I started on the zone but wasn’t in the right mindset so off to other stuff. I’ll be back to it after a bit and a deep breath…
Please note if anyone’s paying close attention, any PI is valid not just <= 998.
I was able to get 145 with the RS200 using a Rivals tune that I always run on it. Bounce off that bridge wall at full speed (you can cut the corner on the inside a bit).
For the speed trap, I used the Mosler. I went well off the road into the snow, then went in a straight line back onto the road and hit the Speed Trap at 205 MPH. It’s just faster than trying to turn a supercar on snowy roads.
Just did the speed trap and danger sign, both on my 599XX. Indeed, just come from the south and follow the road for the Hythe speed trap, the bends are gentler, got it on the 1st try with 25km/h above target.
For the danger sign, just don’t try anything fancy, straight down the slope from the road making a bee line to the ramp, clear every destructible along the way on the 1st try and rewind will give you a much higher score on 2nd try.
Is it just me or are Cross Country races, generally speaking, the hardest in the game (particularly, I feel, when running manual transmission)? Having a tough time (again!) at Ambleside Rush… Grrr… I could change cars of course (which is often the easiest solution), but having beaten the other two races in the Seasonal Champ with the #1 Toyota T100WP, I kind of what to stick with it (it did a good job with the other two).
Conversely, I find Dirt races by far the easiest (and actually, most fun); am able to win most of these first time now, even when unfamiliar with the car.
Quick Q, on another note: I’ve seen videos of Trials/Seasonal Champs on Fortune Island; do these affect the Festival/Season Playlist percentage?
The Toyota and Honda trophy trucks are among a top few that are the best in A or S1 class for cross country by a landslide, the Toyota especially is meta for online A or S1 dirt and cross country. The most popular tunes from past players should be near the front of tunes search ignoring the recent tunes for playlists. Give those a try.
The DLC ones are optional and don’t add to the playlist percentage.
Bah, what bugs me coming from fh5 back to 4 for the seaso nal is 4 has less options so I’m forced to play everything if I want both cars. I know 5 refined it but still… /Whinge
Trial was ok, not a fan of those cc tracks. Ran the warthog, only 3 of us on the team, handy enough.
The pr stunts not awful. There was a sz a few weeks ago that was much worse I thought
The speed zone and the speed trap were two of the most painfully annoying to do the first time they featured in FH4.
I knew what to do about the speed zone, which was to break the wall on the left-hand side ahead of the bridge and bounce off the right-hand side of the bridge after which understeer round that final corner is the biggest nuisance.
I almost got the speed trap in the Jesko, but switched to the Rimac and started from up the hill. The corner before the speed trap was a problem because of the understeer, and the fence on the right kept respawning, which meant that I couldn’t hug the corner. I then switched tactics, leaving the car in 1st gear, which limited it to about 173kmh, which meant a slower entry into the final corner obviated understeer. As I went into that corner, I changed up to second, which gave me more speed and better control because the run to the cameras is relatively straight. Stunt done.
For the jump I had a longer runup and repeated the task until it was complete.
Hythe House speed trap is pretty easy with the 599XX actually as it has so much grip and easily crushes the target with abundance.
Edit: Replaced the 212mph run with a new video to show the proper line to take with a 214mph run.
Did another run to show a good race line for this, accelerate through 1st bend but edge to the outer left, I marked the point to release the throttle (which is after the last tree as the wall ends), turn and accelerate through all the way to the finish.
Fh5 generally doesn’t give any hard-to-find cars for the championships or the forzathon shop though fh4 has 6 this week without counting the season and series level prizes. The Hoonigan Bronco, 73 Firebird, VW Ghia are all prize only cars not available in fh5. Peugeot 207 and Fury are prize only. The Falcon is wheelspin or prize. Trade offs. To me fh5 seems stingy.
Well, finally cracked Ambleside Rush to finish off Into The Wilds. Ended up buying the #1 Toyota Baja (non-WP version); changing to AWD and adjusting the final drive did the trick. I think this course is close to impossible to win in the stock Baja (standard or WP edition), as even near perfect runs left me ~5 sec behind the winning time. AWD made all the difference in the straights whereas before, with RWD, I would always lose ground. Anyway, not the most pleasurable experience… glad it’s over with.
This’ll be my first attempt at going for 80% seasonal completion, as I’d like to get hold of the GT70; judging by the comments above, I’m not much looking forward to the PR Stunts!
Lotus Elise at X class has less torque and requiring little throttle control compared to 599XX making it much easier. Was able to consistently get around 227km/h and above.
Edit: Fine tuned the handling and brakes were bad for normal driving. Cleared 142mph in a clean run.
If you haven’t already, complete Rivals and try to go for the Online Adventure. Online Adventure is around 18% of the Playlist and Rivals is around 6%.
Already not enjoying the snow too much, as I just bought a 356 RSR and AMG Hammer. They aren’t too fun to drive now
Ok, this car just pisses me off, as it made all the other cars I’ve tried invalid. Incredibly easy comparatively, 8/10 clean runs because you can be careful and still hit the target. It may have well been on dry road.
I’ve always wondered about its tires, looks like race tires, has the temps of rally tires, can’t be converted to snow tires, but has insane grip on offroad. Let’s just call it magic tires.
Edit: Woke up thinking maybe last night’s runs were flukes, after 3 runs… I mean my entry into the bridge was slower than the Elise as I was being safe but…
148mph clean… this thing will probably keep making voodoo magic if I try to run it again…
