Festival Playlist events and rewards July 24 - July 31 (Autumn S49)

I had a memory that it wasn’t near the suggested location but couldn’t remember where! Took me a couple of minutes.

oof, if you don’t catch the robots in the first trial race very fast you’ve had it and it helps if team-mates quit when they’re at the back

in addition to some other attempts where I forgot to pay attention to my performance, here is my catalogue of losing due to team-mates - beat 4/4/quit, beat 6/4/4, beat 5/robot killed me so quit, beat 5/5/4, team-killed so quit

getting boring to do this now

Hmm . . . big glitch with current one, 2 static robots, four invisible robots, beat all of them. Weird. Then beat 4 robots despite team-kill attempts. Won again. Finally.

The festival site location for the photo challenge is where the arrow is. This is posted for others who may be unsure of the location

You finish a Tour and are asked if you want to create a convoy with the other players . . .

My favorite is changing cars in free roam & being asked if you’d like the car delivered to you…

On the first Trial race if you’re not ahead of the robots by the middle of the first lap, you aren’t going to catch them, unless … you have managed to get a player up to first place who can slow the race down without letting anyone past - enough for the rest of the players to ram the bots into the walls on the 90 degree turns.

Crude, but effective.

I get asked but always say no. Firstly because I’m anti-social and secondly, because I often end up with absolute muppets in online events who I’d rather never see again

Yeah, the fairer question after most Tours I have is, “Would you like to punt these players off the nearest cliff?”

Seem to recall the car delivery cost credits in Horizon 1 or 2. Can’t be bothered to boot it to check. Anyone remember?

I’ve actually never played either one, so couldn’t say unfortunately. Sounds plausible though just given the basic dynamic of the game as I know it now.

stock options, series 49 “Horizon 10-Year Anniversary”, week 2 autumn/storm season

[I try to use the cheapest car that’ll do the stunts and my least-driven car for the championships]

weekly “Welcome to Europe” – Lambo Huracán (Festival Speed Zone, about 105 three times)

trial “Stock Showdown: Peugeot 207 S” – Peugeot 207 S (beat 6 robots then 4)

games “Team King” – Maserati Levante (didn’t do very well)

speed zone “Green Hills” – F8 Tributo ‘19 (a bit tricky; 170.20 mph)

speed zone “River Run” – Urus ‘19 (not too hard; 103.47 mph)

speed zone “Pyramid of the Moon” – Bugatti Divo (not too hard; 131.75 mph)

championship “Honda Civic Type R” – Honda Civic '18 (easy wins)

championship “Euro Cross” – Ferrari Cali T (easy wins)

championship “Hot Hatch Hustle” – Lynk & Co 02 HB (easy wins)

RA speed trap “Duna Escarpada” – TVR Griffith (slightly tricky; 117.91 mph)

RA championship “Reap the Rewards” – Mercedes-AMG E63 (easy wins)

HW speed zone “Supersonic Spiral” – #23 SIERRA ALPHA (easy; 164.36 mph)

HW championship “Into the Nexus” – Bugatti Chiron (easy wins)

Iirc it was 10k in FH3. I’ve always guessed it’s a hold over from that.

For want of something to do, I’ve been doing the Tour multiple times recently. I can’t believe the amount of ramming and deliberate aggressive play that’s going on. I don’t mind the inexperienced players who seem to have great trouble braking going into corners. It’s the higher prestige players that irritate me, because they surely do know how to drive but maybe not. I’ve recently had players, prestige 6 and 7 just punt me and others into the walls and wall ride their way to win.
I do report and block some but really it’s very disappointing.

Just the “Spirit of Horizon”…
Nobody gets the “team” aspect of anything and just want to prove NOTHING by trying to get the win at any cost.

Yeah, that was one of the most annoying parts of FH3. Made it a royal pain to drive every car for a bit to get the “new” tag off of them.

Tip for today’s daily with the Mini Cooper - the car needs to be stock when you enter it. If you get in an upgraded one, reset to default and try to complete the daily, it won’t register. Worked for me by quitting out of the game and restarting. In the thread for the original series, one person said it works if you just switch to a different car and switch back after resetting to default. Others bought a new car from the autoshow.

I just put the Mini onto the hotwheels expansion and just drove straight down the ramp before me.

Bought one for 30, used it, sold it for 40 in Auction…had a cool livery

The Tour I ran wound up being significantly harder than the Trial. It was A-class UTVs starting out with Descenso, which was an immediate red flag. Everyone was in those stock blue Sierras that try to spin out at the drop of a hat. What followed was a microcosm of why cross-country races are BS, featuring such hits as “My car came to a dead stop in a small pool of water while the AI sailed through it,” and “My car got yoinked sideways while landing a big jump and smacked right into a train bridge.” Only reason we won Descenso is because most of the team quit and the AI rubber-banded back to me right before the end, and then we lost the second because of said bridge. To be fair it’s my fault for choosing that awful combination instead of waiting for the next Tour.

Compared to that the Trial was a breeze. I got to play hero ball in the first race by just chasing down a few runaway AI on the final lap, then scored an easier win on Desierto. Even so it’s annoying how many of the “dirt” races in this franchise consist of “stretches of tarmac that inevitably take a 90-degree turn into sections of dirt.” C’mon, give me a race that’s at least 90% on dirt if you want to call it that.

Where in the world did you come from to hit 117 MPH in the Sagaris for that RA speed trap? Even with the much faster car I’m topping out at 110 or so, and that’s going at some crazy angle in an attempt to pick up any sort of speed. This is such a godawful restriction for this stunt: “Hey, let’s take these powerful RWD sports cars and make them go through a trap on sand dunes.” Could we at least attempt to use cars for what they were designed to do?

Edit: Just got it with the Cerbera (and set a PB in the process, who knew), but it took starting from that little bike track and going through the gate at an 80-degree angle. That car’s impossible to drive on the sand so I didn’t even consider it as viable.
