On the speedzone:
Good luck completing this without a tune. The DJS tune got me there, but it cost ~50k. Luckily the wheelspin yielded a Lambo Sesto Elemento. Worth it!
Just in case needed for the GT Cars seasonal championship.
Did it in Aston Martin Vantage 19.
More a build but easily does the job - share code 168 333 206
Just a quick one.
First thank you to idiot in Porsche who went out of their way, to make sure I missed the checkpoint on first trial race, hope you got nothing. I got much better team after I quit, who did the job in pleasant two races.
Used grippy Toyota 2000 GT
Also shared a tune for Ferrari 365 GTB/4 on vintage tires
Street scene completed in Aston Martin Vantage
Dirt races in Mini Cooper S
Cross country and event lab in Deberti Ford F-150 Prerunner (maybe not the best of choices).
PGG in Sierra cars RX3
Pointless “tuning” for PR stunts …
Tunes can be found under my gamer tag.
Tomorrow I’ll try and do a proper post … this game is seriously becoming a chore …
Anyway take care everyone and have fun, bb
Edit
My daily completed, when I was testing tunes on first race of the trial. No event lab, no nothing, just driven normal 3 lap race.
Thanks to all, EB always.
Trial pretty fun, great group. won 1st 2 races. AI not as awful this week. I used SSK Benz, fun, push refractory. Not quite winner, but fun to drive, solid 3-4. My tune, not worth share. 73 RS, 2k GT, Dino and Miura seem best picks, but SSK fun.
PGG ez, another awesome team, annoying had to spend 50k to tune for 15k WS. Lousy prizes these days.
XJ13 is gorgeous. Brushed aluminum like test car.
Ok, it’s been a very long time since I played something in a game that made me seriously contemplate throwing my controller across the room. This week’s challenge “Come rain or shine” was about the most bloody ridiculous race I’ve come across so far in FH5. No matter what truck I used, if I made ONE mistake, there was always a single AI truck (usually a Trailhawk) that would rocket past and get so far ahead, there was no way to catch it. Bumps, hard corners, and even river crossings didn’t seem to upset it or slow it down at all, it just went on it’s merry way as if on rails, despite the muddy road conditions. I don’t get why PG would program one of the AI vehicles to be significantly faster than all the rest. It’s just insane, and deffo takes the enjoyment out of the race.
I’m also rolling my eyes at PG’s decision to, once again, lock up exclusive cars behind the second tier score rewards. I seem to remember we went through this back in FH4. First, you could only win the new cars if you maxed out the weekly challenges. Then they reduced that to about 80% of the max points. Then, when enough players complained, they switched the exclusives to tier 1 rewards. Sorry, PG…regressing back to an older method of doing things that was actually fixed (for once) in the previous game isn’t going to win you any more fans of the franchise.
Agreed. This one is going to break some people. Honestly, I’m not sure more than 1% of people can win that without using the #25 Bronco which is the prize for winning. Trying to chase down the drivatar who was in the #25 illustrated so many of the problems people have been talking about. He could go vastly faster downhill than any non-drivatar, never moved off of the perfect line, no sliding, no slowing down when landing huge jumps.
I tried several vehicles with good tunes and got close with the Trailcat. I think I could win with the Trailcat if I cared to try a few times. With the #25 Bronco it was close but winnable in one attempt.
When I saw the Trailblazer in in the playlist and that the daily was to create an EventLab event I exited to desktop. I think I’m done with the playlist grind for at least a long while. I’ll pick up the celica and mustang some other month.
You can’t win that cross country championship even in #25 Bronco. Drivatar in #25 Bronco was 8 points ahead after second race which I thought I won but I actually lost it by 4 seconds. It was last in third but I still couldn’t win because I was second and with one point.
The bronco isn’t faster than the trailcat, but it has better traction and handling which enables faster response.
Many think they need faster stats to catch that 1st drivatar, but it isn’t true. Cross country races isn’t just about speed but traction to get the best line to take those sharp or sweeping turns fast. Going for a faster car but less traction and sliding wide on turns actually slows you down considerably (taking a longer time through turn, exiting the turn at low speed) such that when the AI zips past you, it seems like they have godly traction and speed.
As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, the strategy for the 1st race is having enough traction to race down the mountain and maintain the turn at the end without needing to slow down much which easily puts you in the lead and opens a buffer gap for the rest of the race. The remaining races are just about getting good turns and maintaining pace.
I was behind 3rd and 2nd all the time in second race though at time I thought they were 1st and 2nd. Got in front of them just before finish line.
Easy win? Nope, DJS’s drivatar crossed the line 4 seconds before that in #25 Bronco.
Edit: Also what’s up with that Montana Trail two times in row?
I don’t expect to have an easy time with these. But I’ve figured out how to handle these drivatars: You have to slap them around a bit.
Once they have been demoralized they calm down some.
It’s completely unsportsmanlike and makes me feel a little cheap, but I just hang with them until the first big corner then I dive bomb the F out them.
Maybe it’s my imagination but it seems they aren’t so cocky once they get a look at my license plate.
Usually, once I can get in front of them, all I have to do is keep it on the track.
And I’ll do what I have to to get in front of them.
Seems backwards to force bad racing conduct on us but that’s how it appears to me.
If they ever forced us to win those with clean laps I’d be screwed.
idk, but it’s possible. I’m playing on the xbox one. Personally, I think the AI programming is just inconsistent. Some races seem easy, while others make you want to rip your hair out.
I’ve had the same experience with “highly skilled” drivatars even back since FH4. There always seems to be one that is significantly faster than the rest of them, but IF you manage to get past it, then it seems easier, and the “lead” car doesn’t go any faster than the rest of them. I hate corner bombing, but I’ve had to resort to that a few times to get past the AI leader, then all I need to do is watch my line and race as cleanly as possible, then I win every time.
Also, the Mini ace series is even worse than the previous one I was talking about. This time, anywhere from two to SIX AI cars are so fast, you can’t catch them, no matter which Mini you choose for yourself. This game is getting more rubbish by the day.
