PC has got a lot of great advantages over console. Not having to pay for online, non-standard resolutions, modding for single player games (people who cheat in multiplayer games are scum), non-standard inputs and more peripheral support, more open and competitive environment, more repairability, the list goes on.
However, there is one area where, these days at least, console absolutely destroys PC. Price to performance. I recently played God of War: Ragnorok on my PS5, on 1440p at around 75 FPS minimums (my TV goes up to 120) with motion blur turned off. The PCs advantages are starting to get chipped away, and my PC, while a higher performer, cost more than double what the PS5 cost. It’s not more than double the performance. I’d estimate it’s about 1.5x, game depending. Hard to tell since the computer does power a 5120x1440 monitor. The PS5 is on a 4k TV, but I have it set to play games at 1440p.
For people on a budget, or even people who care about value per dollar, console is a very attractive option these days, even with having to pay for online.
