Festival Playlist events and rewards Aug. 14 - Aug. 21 (Summer S50)

Actually used that to good use with a DontGivaDeuce tune…

Also managed to offload a couple from the garage that have been buggin’ me for a while.

Dumped them for under the AS price at C class whilst loads were bidding on A class tunes that wouldn’t even be allowed to compete ! Why ?

Uhh @x_ShadowsBane_x why race suspension on the Impala?

And a top speed less than what several of the cars in my test were getting up to on the Descansar straight?

The 55’ Chevy 150 handles the Trial quite well. Haven’t had a loss in the 7 I have ran so far.

Arco Raceway is the worst track I’ve seen in this game, and that’s saying something. What a miserably tedious circuit.

It was an absolute mess. very poorly designed and I don’t know what was happening with the cars on that event but I tried 3 different cars and each was fish-tailing excessively and handling very strangely

In freeroam, the same cars had no such problems

This was on an Xbox One X

I got on okay with it, thought it was fairly good in fact.

Yes, i also struggled with it, although bringing the underpowered Lotus 340R was perhaps not the best choice, but yes, it was bouncy and weird, also the car kept sliding alot.
Once funny thing happened though, in one of my attempts, one ai, a Warthog got stuck on the inside of the armco barrier, yes, it was standing in a 90 degree angle towards the circuit, was sure it would dnf, but it got out somehow, and did finish the race

seen the “get out of jail free” antics for a while, Motorsport 6, maybe 5 and 7 as well, you could sit and watch a stuck car repeatedly reverse, forward, reverse, forward, for as long as you want, if you get “out of sight” in some manner the car mysteriously works out what to do . . .

This blueprint and, to a lesser extent, the other Event Lab are karting tracks…in a game without karts or karting. Twisty sections mean different things for different vehicles at different power and down force levels. Arco was extremely technical with almost no relief, and that is fine for a 40hp kart that corners on a dime at low speed, but not so for A class sports cars with a larger turning radius. If you have to use the e-brake to rotate the car through many corners on a street circuit, you’ve overdone it on how tight the corners are (it’s more reasonable for rally and rally cross, but too many hairpins are tedious regardless of racing surface).

Apparently the creators of blueprints do not have any notice or input on having their circuit chosen for a playlist, and PGG will change the car type and class and weather conditions willy-nilly without regard for the original design. Fair enough to the creator, they can’t build for every possible car without making it enormous like an F1 circuit. However, this is an “Anything Goes” with no set class in the original blueprint.

There were so many other problems aside from that. Objects poking up through the ground interfering with the cars, so many points around the track that “snag” the car to a dead standstill if you merely brush them, chicanes with rocks that even had the drivatars launching into the air and crashing, destructible track limits at bridges in braking zones that were easy to fall off of. This circuit is the racing game version of sadism.

That’s much the same as my issues with Arco. I didn’t really have any issues with the other one but Arco was a nightmare to get through and needed so many rewinds

I don’t blame the creator because I know the devs change things around and even choose experimental tracks without getting input from the creator. I remember AR12 had a long post here about one of his early builds a while ago

Maybe Arco was a mess around track, one built for a bit of fun with friends or as a learning experience and not for the masses but there were certainly issues with the corners, edges and rock traps that even the AI cars had problems with as you said

I’ve made some really dumb layouts messing around in the past and certainly would not want them included in the game

I have a blueprint where you have to race under water in a convoluted route that exists purely because I wanted to test if you could

I’ve said it before and stand by it, I seriously doubt that these events are play tested before inclusion in the playlist

At this point, we are just getting repeats of old playlists so I don’t expect anything to change in the future

stock options, series 50 “Summer Party”, week 1 summer/wet season

[loose approach - cheapest car for the stunts, least-driven car for the championships]

weekly “Cat out of Hell” – Challenger '15 (“Paso Inferior” 124.39/128.04 mph)

trial “Hot Rod” – Chevy Impala (dreadful car; beat 4 robots then 2 after messing up)

eventlab “Arco Raceway” – Meyers Manx FE (very good one, the car less so)

eventlab “Circuito de los Pinos” – #98 Elantra (very good one again)

danger sign “Valle” – Twin Mill (fairly easy; 317.04 m)

drift zone “Farmand Trail” – Toyota Sera ‘91 (not that hard; 171,172)

trail blazer “City Escape” – BMW Z4 '19 (a bit tricky; 45.113 s)

championship “And Now, the Classics” – VW SP-2 '76 (easy wins)

championship “Scrambling for More” – Toyota GR Yaris (good car; easy wins)

treasure “Sting like a Beetle” – VW Beetle (3 Trading Paint)

RA speed trap “Orogrande rush” – #23 SIERRA ALPHA (easy; 162.10 mph)

RA championship “Twists and Turns” – VW Golf R '10 (easy wins)

HW speed zone “Supersonic Spiral” – Hot Wheels BTTB (easy; 174.07 mph)

HW championship “Dragon’s Quest” – McLaren 620R (easy or very easy wins)

The Trial was fairly easy, my team nearly swept both races. The Impala was a boat as expected, but after a bit I figured out how to feather it around the corners well enough. Tell you what though, the AI was out for blood on Bahía de Plano. I’m used to them drunkenly swerving all over the place, but this was a whole other level. There was one point where almost the entire field piled up in front of me and I couldn’t avoid plowing into it Blues Brothers cop chase style. It was easy enough once that all got sorted though.

And I didn’t mind either of the EventLab tracks this week. Arco Raceway was more twisty than I would have liked, and I could see some of the obstacles possibly causing issues, but I got through it cleanly.

Nice one. :+1: Sounds like most online races these days.

Couldn’t stand either of them. :-1:

Arco was a bit weird with some random lose of traction bit but was mainly very tight with some absolute punisher for when you didn’t get things right. My biggest issue was that the Morgan aero apparently doesn’t count as “open topped”.

2nd track was simplicity itself esspecially with the iffy racing line causing the drivatars to do a lot of self sabotage.

well, yeah, there’s the list in the event, the horizon specials category, and the actual list of cars that really are open-top - three different things

Must be my most driven car in the game since it first arrived but chances to use it in a seasonal event are rare…..

Straightforward enough but Descansar could have gone better, got past William halfway down the long straight, braked, turned in to take the right hander on the inside as per the optimal line….and all of a sudden there was William’s car on the exit completely blocking me :man_shrugging: I use bumper cam so never got to see what ridiculous line they must have taken or how they must have massively out-braked me given I passed 2-3 seconds before getting to the braking point.

Given the divisiveness surrounding Arco I gave that a try afterwards, I enjoyed it with the Cyberster but I wouldn’t want to drive it in co-op, FH’s track maps aren’t designed for courses that overlap with elevation either so 1st lap was a bit of a guessing game in the main bit of the course with anticipating what was next.
