There needs to be more detail and “dirty” sound in the exhaust in the lower rpm ranges.
Furthermore, the signature F40 exhaust gurgle on off throttle/coasting is incorrect. It sounds like the F-type’s exhaust crackles and not the F40.
It seems like the more cars I drive the more I come across made up sound effects or sounds, tones, and exhaust characteristics given to cars in a mish-mash, and then shared randomly across different cars with no real sense of capturing each car’s “soul” and “character”.
Each car needs to retain its own unique character I think and not share samples or effects across different cars.

I recently bought this car and started driving it. OP is correct. That signature exhaust gurgle is missing on off-throttle. Instead the car has a generic crackling sound on off-throttle/coasting.
Take a listen:
Go straight to the 2-min mark as that has the standard F-40 where you can clearly hear the exhaust gurgle as the driver lifts his foot off the throttle. This signature gurgle can also be heard in the F-40C on off-throttle.

The rest of the sound is great, acceleration and deceleration, etc. although the real turbo sound would also be a welcome addition

Apart from the exhaust gurgle, I want to commend the developers on a generally good sound. However, as with dozens and dozens of cars in the game, the F-40’s cockpit and first person sounds are also weak.
It’s not just a volume issue or something that can be corrected with a volume boost but rather an issue to do with dynamic range and impactfulness. So, the on board sound should really make me feel like that beautiful motor is behind me, shaking every bone in my body but you don’t really hear and feel the engine/exhaust note in the low and mid end.
Please give this glorious car’s audio the love it deserves. I wish Mike Caveizel were reading all these posts.

Will this car be added to the list of Ferrari sounds to improve in a future update?
The sample is accurate but not very good quality. It needs more depth and character. More dynamic range, more pronounced motor sound in cockpit and exhaust bass/vibration and especially turbo. The off-throttle exhaust gurgling sound though is not accurate and sounds very generic.

Correct exhaust gurgle sound on coasting would be the cherry on top!
The sample in the game is generally fine. However, it lacks punch and dynamic range. I really want to hear all the details and nuances in the different views but I don’t. Cockpit view in particular requires work.
I last left them feedback in December 2024. Still nothing. How disappointing.
