New DLC announcement coming on Monday, you have all weekend to frustrate yourself with my clues. Do you best. Logic may or may not help you. Have you ever seen Seven Degrees of Separation? It’s one of my favorite concepts.
Have fun guessing, I’ll check in on you over the weekend to see how you are doing and see if I can lead you astray by liking posts and gifting some credits on Monday.
Now, here are you February DLC Clue Thread Clues.
Please limit side conversations and wish list posts to the appropriate threads for them. The purpose of this thread is to guess the cars of the February Car Pack based on my clues. If you can call them that.
Clue 1 Car 1: I only take “no” for an answer. Is that understood?
Clue 1 Car 2: VW and Porsche have not cornered the market on frunks.
Clue 1 Car 3: We Americans tried something very different when we built the racetrack at COTA.
Clue 1 Car 4: While $358/horsepower may seem like a lot, you get a much more than just loads of torque.
Clue 1 Car 5: Very excellent real life quotes to help you get through the day: Enjoy the ride. It’s all about the journey. Race or die! Run for your life!
Clue 1 Car 6: Sometimes just sounding like you are going fast is as good as going fast.
#1: Holden VK Commodore SS #2: Renault Alpine GTA Le Mans, owing to it’s rear-engine layout. #3: Maybe the Saturn Sky, as generally American performance cars are about HP, torque, and straight-line performance (not lately, but…), but this one was made for twisties instead. #4: Suggests a turbodiesel. International XT Series. Went from $93K to $115K, had loads of torque, and depending on engine choice and options with price, you probably could get to $358/hp somehow. 93K/300 is 310 after all, so add on some price… #5: I’ll just say Jensen Interceptor like everyone else. #6: Honda S800 #7: Honda Civic Type-R
Clue 1 is very similar to a quote in “The Yellow Submarine”, which obviously starred The Beatles, so it’s perhaps some sort of beetle derivative? (Seeing as VW wouldn’t cough up the licensing rights this time around). Maybe something from a third party tuner?
#1 - No idea. My only guess would be the VK Commodore (because of the polariser business) #2 - Renault Alpine GTA Le Mans? It’s rear engines and not owned by VW or Porsche. #3 - Cadillac ATS-V - apparently it was developed on COTA (and is a non-V8 American handling machine, so un American) #4 - Aston DB11? It has $358UDS/hp and was in the leaks, #5 - Same again. Some form of movie Car maybe? #6 - 2013 Dodge Dart from the leaks last month. #7 - 2016 Civic Type R. Again from the leaks.
clue 1: Holden VK Commodore
clue 2: Renault Alpine GTA Le Mans
clue 3: Cadillac ATS-V
clue 4: Mercedes-benz SLR Mclaren or Aston Martin DB11
clue 5: NISMO GT-R LM
clue 6: Jensen Interceptor MK III or Honda S800
clue 7: Honda Civic Type r or Pagani Zonda R
barn find: Ferrari F50 GT
Clue 1 Car 7: Corsa VXR because it has r in the title.
Clue 1 Car 6: honda s800 because of the high revving 800cc engine.
Clue 1 Car 2: Renault alpine because rear engine?
Clue 1 Car 4:vk commodore group a because i’m guessing v8s have plenty of torque? O’m not to familiar with this car but Its got a v8. plus every pack either has a Ford or Holden in them. also will it come with the Energy Polariser? (oh wait thats the vl that had that)
Daytona and Homestead Miami infield road-courses run anti-clockwise (or as we americans say “counterclockwise”). Laguna Seca, Utah Motorsports Campus (Formerly Miller Motorsports Park), and more.
Clue 1 Car 3: We Americans tried something very different when we built the racetrack at COTA.
From COTA’s wiki page it, “was the first in the United States to be purpose-built for Formula One.” Plus it runs counter-clockwise where most road course I can think of off the top of my head run clockwise.
How this might relate to a DLC car, I don’t know. The only car related tidbit I found was this.
“The track was officially opened on October 21, with Mario Andretti running the ceremonial first laps in a Lotus 79, the car he drove when he became the last American to win the World Drivers’ Championship in 1978.”
Because I am really bad at trying to navigate the maze that is Johniwanna’s mind in an attempt to decipher his cryptic clues, I’ll go with the Lotus 79 for Car 3.
