Fanatec wheel settings for XBOX? - Issue Resolved.

Recently I purchased the complete Forza Motorsport branded Fanatec package with the 2.5 base, v3 pedals, shifter and XBOX wheel hub. With some fine tuning of the wheel settings both on the wheel hub itself and also in FM7, I absolutely love the wheel and playing FM7.

However, when I tried my wheel in the H4 demo, the cars are basically not able to be driven. I would have expected that the settings in FM7 should be basically the same for H4 given the sliders are the same. The issue is that there is what I would call a deadzone at the center of the wheel. For example, if going in a straight line, I need to turn the wheel at least 30 to 35 degrees before the car begins to react and when it does turn, it is abrupt. Trying to drive precisely between cars is impossible. This basically renders my wheel useless for this game. I will admit I am a new wheel user, however given that I feel I nailed the settings in FM7 and will never use a controller again in the FM series, I am hoping there is an answer to my center deadzone issue. I have tried numerous changes to settings on both my wheel and in H4, but can not eliminate the center deadzone.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much,

UPDATE: so I found the reason for my issue. I typically play one or two different games each day and so when I kicked of the H4 demo, I had just left a fp shooter and was using a controller. And so I started H4 with a controller to get thru the intros and first few races. Then I shut off the controller and powered up my wheel. This apparently can’t be done in H4 even though I have done this in FM7 and other racing games. When I fired up H4 directly from my wheel, the issue of the center deadzone was resolved and things are good now. Hope this may help anyone else who did what I did. Thanks.

I have the same exact issue, i tried it your way and it works, but its really sluggish. Almost has a horizon 3 feel. And defeats the purpose of a v2.5 wheel base, being that i can feel the belts turning. I dont have that issue in motorsport 7. Youd think by now they would get it right but it seems turn 10 is still favoring gamers who use controllers more. Little do they know how large the number of sim racers there are who stol utilize consoles for sim racing and who are huge fans of the forza franchise. I understand at the end of the day its an arcade game, but once a sim is connected it should automatically have a setting that gives us that sim racing experiance that forza knows how to do well woth motorsport 7 as proof of it.

That said, what are your guy’s settings for H4 and M7 in the game and on the wheel? Brand new to this and I just got the Fanatec V2.5 with the basic Xbox wheel and peddles with loadcell, and initial impression is not that hot. At first I was having the same deadzone issues you were talking about which had me really worried, but then I found this post which removed that. I do still find it very hard to drive H4.

Wondering if I should switch over to the Thrustmaster TS-XW instead while I’m still inside my return window.
