Fanatec Driver 466 enables LED support on Xbox

Fanatec’s latest Beta Driver is available: https://forum.fanatec.com/topic/16289-fanatec-driver-466-beta

Within the notes is the following:

Added support for Xbox SDK features. Xbox games will now be able to support LED and display features as well as more buttons. The first game is Forza Motorsport with LED and display support and we’ll work together with more games to bring support.

One for Fanatec users (myself included) to look out for.

I thought I’d never see the day. It’s only taken, what? Almost 20 years?

Updated my wheels and can confirm:

  • Wheels with LEDs will light up in accordance with vehicle revs.
  • Wheels with an OLED or 7 segment display will show your current gear while driving.

Need to see if going into the driver or Fanalab on PC can let me change the OLED to show speed instead of gear number when driving on Xbox.

[edit: Maybe not]

OK, so this is game specific per save, that’s kind of what I figured when I was messing around with it in Fanalab. Is there any way to do this for Gran Turismo 7 or will this only work for PC Games?

That will only work for PC games as Fanalab needs to be running in the background to gather Telemetry Info to show on the Display which is not possible on a console.

Noticed one issue, seems to be on Fanatec’s side.

  • GT DD Pro
  • ClubSport Universal Hub V2
  • Podium Advanced Paddle Module
  • Podium Button Module Rally

The top two paddles (which should be X and Y) are not recognised.

First experienced it in-game but when I dashboarded out it was also an issue on the Xbox frontend.

Reported here incase anyone else has the same issue: https://forum.fanatec.com/topic/16289-fanatec-driver-466-beta/#findComment-151948

Edit:

Did some troubleshooting and if you downgrade the wheel base a few versions (I went back to Driver 462) then you get the paddles back. You do lose the new features though but for now that’s worth it.

Purely out of curiosity, as I don’t play on Xbox anymore, but can anyone confirm which “new” features are now enabled when using, for example, the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel with FM on Xbox?

I’m guessing the LED display will show current gear. What about the rotary dials? Toggle switches? The dial on the funkyswitch? Are the N and P buttons still duplicates of other buttons? Can everything now be remapped and assigned a unique in-game function?

It’s just the LED rev lights (on wheels that have them) and the gear number on the OLED display for now. That’s all Turn 10 have implemented at the moment.

Now that the SDK is available though, developers can theoretically support encoders etc. with a game update.

I hate it so much lol
I was stoked to see the update, finally, but for now we cant change the colors. The green, yellow, white that they choose isnt great. No adjustments to the flash or anything. Its a step in the right direction but Im hoping fanalab will get some xbox specific options or possibly a way to change the stripe within the adv wheel menu on xbox
