Event Progression to unlock big final race

Greetings! I think what future Forza Horizon games need is a proper progression system. I’m not asking for a character driven story (although that would be fantastic to include, like what FH1 did with the wristband system or road trips back in FH2). But I’m at least suggesting a progression that builds up to the final race in the game, The Goliath.

What I mean is, when you complete every event in the game, then you’ll unlock The Goliath. As a “final boss.”

And in terms of other big events, like The Titan, or The Colossus, those can also be included as final events for their category of events (cross country, road, etc.). Once the player completes those specific challenges, then The Goliath will be available. Making it the grand finale to the player’s journey.

Also, I doubt this will ever be included, but maybe add the end credits after you beat the final race in the game. Just to give off the feeling of completion. However, I do feel like this is highly unlikely. Mainly because there’s gonna be more content added after “completing the game.”

What I’m trying to say is the later games generously give us these final events too fast. Let us grind and build our way to those finales in a similar way to FM1-FM4/FH1. That way it’ll feel more rewarding.

Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion.

FH5 pretty much lets you decide what to do and when to do it. Personally I enjoy this a lot more than a story that takes you by the hand and tells you exactly what to do next.
I really liked the way how you could decide what championships to do in FH2 and what the next festival location you’re going to do next. Or in FH3 where you unlock new festival sites over time.
FH5 is really not much different from that, it just progresses much faster, at least if you let it. I think a lot of players are unlocking the new stuff on the map immediately, instead of unlocking them when they like to do it, and it seems like a lot of players are overwhelmed with … ahm … making decisions, lol.

Honestly, a story isn’t really necessary, like NFS for example, but like you already said it doesn’t really need a big change, they really just need to make a few special events that you only unlock when you finish a big portion of the “story” and then this will give the player this kind of accomplishment that a lot of people are missing.
But grinding your way through the story would just not fit to the FH vibe. A lot of people seem to still be stuck in that old mindset of FH1 times, but since FH2 the grind was pretty much over and that shaped the identity of the game, if the devs go back to a similar approach as FH1, this will make a huge portion of the community disappointed. I’d suggest to play NFS if you like a story that way.

To the credits idea:
I don’t think it’s necessary to roll the credits, but they could do it like Red Dead Redemption 2. When I played that game I was a bit disappointed when there where no credits after finishing the story, cause it would fit so well considering this game has such a movie vibe to it. But turns out the credits do roll, but only after you have 100% completion and then you even get a special cut scene.
So if FH6 would do it in a similar way where they play the credits after 100% completion of the discovery tab in the “my stats”, then I think this would be pretty cool, as you have then actually “finished” the map.

I appreciate your response!

Oddly enough, I’ve never played FH1-FH3. I was always a FM player (although, I’ve only played FM3, FM4, and FM7).

I did however began playing FH4 in late 2019 (I know, I’m late to the party lol).

Around that time, I began noticing people wishing FH4 (and nowadays FH5 to some extent) would be somewhat similar to the earlier FH games. However, I also came across people who don’t mind the format of the later FH games. I wasn’t so sure how I felt at the time. I just looked at both sides, took notes, and thought of finding the balance for long time players and new players to enjoy the games. It’s far from perfect, but it’s at least an attempt I made to think about the players.

Basically, I’m very neutral when it comes to Forza as a whole.

In terms of a story mode, I highly doubt we’ll ever get that in future FH games. As someone who’s writing their first book, I know it takes time to come up with an interesting story. And honestly, I’ll be shocked and even optimistic if we ever do get one in a future FH title. It has been a couple of years since we’ve gotten a new entry, so who knows what Playground Games are up to.

On the side note, I like the idea of credits rolling after 100% completing the game.
