The fuel level is also shown on a bar under the speedo on the HUD (when using the analog tach setup). It’s just visual (gray/white shaded bar) but it does help if you can’t read it on the dash, or don’t drive in cockpit cam.
as for the endurance racing, i was glad to see it in there, but slightly disappointed by my first one. I did the Road Atlanta 100 as well. Not sure if this varies by difficulty, but it’s a 40 lap race and the AI pitted at 18 or 19 laps, but i was able to run 20+ before my fuel and tires became a concern. As a result, I had a pretty intense race until all my competition pitted in with 2 laps to go :-/
I was also running with full damage, but it appears that the AI is completely unfazed by damage. I had to restart a couple times following some gnarly crashes that I couldn’t even limp away from, but the AI carried on like it was business as usual. All I can say is give them plenty of space going into that final turn at Atlanta because they wadded it up 3 or 4 times on me there and it’s very hard to avoid if you’re carrying the proper speed/line through there.
I’ll be darned. There’s the fuel gauge right there. I just probably couldn’t see it through my anger when I had to retire on the 82nd lap (of 82) because I hoped I could push just one more lap, but it turns out it was my fault all along. I can’t really figure out a reliable strategy for the endurance races, as I never seem to be able to squeeze more mileage out of a tank than the competition, so I guess I need to be reading up on which of the cars should be the most fuel efficient. The tires I’ve had weird experience with, as they seem to be terrible the first lap or so after a pit, great for three, terrible for the next two, then fine for a few more. I’m not sure if I’m just getting used to them or if they’re actually not offering traction.
What car were you using? I was using the R18 etron and having to pit every 4 full laps. I screwed up once and drove through the 5th lap thinking I could make it without pitting, I ran out of gas before i made it to the pits, was super close though. I tested throttle vs gas guzzling to see if it matters. after rewinding as far back as possible, I went in 50% throttle and got alot closer to the pits, what a surprising detail that I have found. I still didnt make it though lol. Had to restart.
On that run I was using the Peugeot 908, I did it again using the R18 and I also had to pit on lap 4 going through to 5 and incredibly consistently the rest of the race.
I’ve found fuel consumption must matter at least a little bit, because I was squeezing an extra lap or two between pit stops using the same car as someone else when we were discussing it in a different thread. This was also with the 908, I’m unsure whether anyone’s been able to get more than 4 full laps out of the R18.
Yeah the rewind function is broken…lol but HELL…i can’t finish any Endurance races…I have no patience for it…i really want to do it though…but i need a 2nd player to take turns for me lol…otherwise i’ll either fall asleep halfway or start driving really badly…i cant concentrate for more than 10mins…
well obviously I know that can be done…I have done endurance races in the past on GranTurismo 4 when i was a kid…they had even crazier races like 24hour real time races which was impossible to do in 1 go…
But as time goes by, I grew older and lose patience…lmao
I’ve done by now Catalunia 100 and Road Atlanta 100 and i just love endurance racing. Anyone done nordschleife 125? I’m courious if it is possible to stay 3 laps. I tried but while ai cars was in pit i had very sideways moment and crashed my ferrari (no rewind while ai are pitting :/) so i abandoned my race.
I did the Nordschleife 125 yesterday in the Lambo. I only had to pit one time after 4 Laps. The wheels were down about 20-25% at the time.
I wasn’t really going all out on my laps. It was more important to me to finish than to win so I only finished 3rd. It was a great hour and 20 minutes of fun though!
I have just done nordschleife 125 and can confirm that you can stay out for 3 laps (i.e. pitting at the end of 3)
On another note i just used up lots of xp Mods on norschleife which was great until i realized how much more i would have benefited from using them on Sebring 300
Today I might do my first endurance. It’s really great they added this to the game.
Is better to play without rewind, extra credits at the end. I am also saving my +X% credits / XP cards for the endurance races, as it seems to be the best place to use them.
Definitely give it a go. Its really good test at keeping your laps consistent. Depending on your difficulty, if you mess up certain sections of a track, the AI pull away from you and next thing you know they can be a whole 30 seconds ahead. If you start feeling like your losing focus just pause in the pit or on a straight and do something else for a minute. Definitely stack up those mods. for example I got the money from 17 affinity levels, 4 spins, and almost a million just from the race. a good payday indeed.
I completed the catalunya 100 yesterday and my god was it awesome. Had to pit lap 19 by then 34th lap my front tyres where nearly done but had to fight all the way for the win and only taking first on lap 30 when Ai had to make a second Pitstop. Had 60% affinity bonus on and 2 20% driver ex boosts on. Was well worth itit. Know what I’m saving my next Xp boosts for
Thank you turn 10 for putting endurance in.
As with others I had issues with the rewind where it just didn’t function as normal. Other then that it was awesome!
Did the Road Atlanta 100 last night and it was good fun, however it would be nice if a low fuel indicator was added to the game, hard to keep track of just that thin white line on the speedo
