Dynamic Time of Day

I think dynamic weather/ToD would be welcome on, at least, the fantasy tracks. So whether it rains in Dubai or not (it does, just not as much as other regions), how does implementing rain on it hurt anything? Or, instead of rain, how about a sand storm? I expect, at least, a night version of it, looks to be an amazing track.

Rio, Berenese Alps, Prague could use both weather/ToD. A new “look” to environments is always a good thing.

As for how dynamic ToD will be achieved (may be is keyword here):

“But just as impressive is the implementation of full dynamic lighting, allowing for gradual time of day transitions as well as a full-on weather system - all real-time now, as opposed to FM6’s baked, static equivalents [UPDATE 17/6/17 2:20pm: we’ll need to look at our captures more closely, but transitioning between multiple baked lighting models may be how Turn 10 has achieved this - it’s an approach most recently seen in Horizon Zero Dawn”

“Giese reveals that players will have full control over the weather settings in Free Run on supported circuits. Multiplayer Rivals events, meanwhile, have controlled conditions to ensure a level playing field.”

No mention of TOD just weather on supported circuits

Actually, the six minute race is pretty much the norm in both career and MP. Sure, there’s longer races to be had in free play for those that want them but I would guess that 6 minutes is about 99% correct for 99% of players 99% of the time.

Now I’m confused, where does that leave us?

So for anyone still checking this thread, as it seems to have popped up again, dynamic ToD has been confirmed, by Turn 10, on this website with one of their articles, to be on every single track in the game. I don’t remember which article it was in, as this was a few weeks ago, but I believe it was a Week In Review article from the beginning of August.

With the ability to extend career races per Bill Giese up to 45 minutes maybe longer and endurance races possibly returning, the dynamic weather make sense.

The short lap races in career mode in most games, tended to create poor racing habits, win the race at the first turn, no time to hesitate, less the rabbit get to far ahead.

Just hope we have the option to adjust how fast the time of day advances, in the demo at Nurburgring the time of day appeared to go from afternoon to sun set in two laps.

If we can’t choose has fast it advances, I’d imagine it would automatically change based on how long the race is. Like, in that 2 lap race, it had to do it fast, but say on a 40 lap race, it probably would be much slower advancement of Time of Day/Weather.

I agree completely! I also hope it is set up proportionately according to his long the race is. 40+ percent rain 20 percent incoming and outgoing storm clouds and 40 percent sun or visa versa. I will add that I do t want it to rain in every race though perhaps only 30 percent of the races having any rain. 40 percent Sun and 30 percent heavy clouds or similar numbers

I’m the opposite. If I roll up to the grid on a clear sunny day I really don’t want to be driving through some apocalyptic storm one and a half minutes later.

Weather change should be believable which means that only a smallish percentage should run dry, wet, dry or whatever combo you want. Most races statistically should be dry. Just because weather is dynamic shouldn’t mean that we see everything each race at some crazy accelerated rate.

Just my opinion.

Dadio, that is what I was trying to say. The bottom percentages are how often you get a race like that 30% of races are mostly in the rain, 40% sunny, and 30% heavy clouds but no rain.
This would give the randomness of what kind of race along with different time cycles of weather. To make it more believable they should make the ones with rain either start sunny and finish in the rain or the start raining and finish sunny. There really should not be a lot of 3 cycle weather patterns…sun to rain to sun again or rain to sun to rain again.

I’ve seen lots of developers say all kinds of things about what will be in their games only to find out when the game is released that the feature wasn’t in the game, it was scaled back or people only heard what they wanted to hear.

What T10 means by dynamic or changing experience could be totally different from what we think of when we hear the phrase.

A lot of people get their hopes up based on this stuff only to feel let down when the game comes out and that somehow they were mislead.

We should wait for the game to come out and see how it is and not get our hopes up too much just to see them dashed.

I don’t see how full dynamic weather can work with Forza’s current system of leaderboards. You can only keep track of records so long as each is run under the exact same conditions, this kind of eliminates either fully dynamic ( infinite transitions between weather ) or the leaderboards. So either there isnt dynamic weather or the gameplay has changed in other areas that havent been discussed.

I don’t see how leaderboards would be affected much. Outright quickest laps are dry anyway just as real world lap records are. Full wet races are still full wet races. Any transitional track conditions such as they are wouldn’t need a leaderboard. Rivals will likely always be fixed conditions for obvious reasons.

That’s not how the game works at the moment. Wet, day and night times are all tracked separately and each track condition is consistant every time you run it as it would have to be in order for the leaderboards to be of any use.

Hi guys. Ive been all over this forum and still have no answer to this…
Will ALL tracks be available at night?
Thanks

It has not been confirmed.

Thanks…strange it hasnt…obviously not then…

What?? Are you joking??. Ive been asking this for months…which tracks can you race at night? …And youre telling me there is no night racing???
This must be a complete joke?? Im sure I read that some tracks were at night…like spa franch??

I posted this as a reply to one of your other posts asking the same question. Different time of day is confirmed, but not if it is available for every track.

Basically:

We know there is dynamic weather.
We know there is dynamic time of day.
What we don’t know is what combination of these two things will be available on each track. Some may be completely static, others may have only dynamic time of day, and some may have fully dynamic weather and time of day. We don’t know and T10 hasn’t said one way or the other yet.

As I understand the situation reading this achievement “Storm Chaser - Complete a race in every Rain Weather Scenario” with only 10 points of gamescore,
for me it means that only some of the tracks will have rain conditions and they will be just a bit amount so.

Without official news we only can suppose it reading that signals.

During the development I can understand that T10 dont tell too much about the game. But now…giving information would increase the hype.

Im really curious why dont they giving some information for keep the hype alive . Like they dont want to sell their game .
