Rio Track...??

Still no news anywhere about Rio and what day/night weather we can expect? Very strange? I did see some footage from MotorworldHype of the Prague track…it was just dark and gloomy and eerie. I really like it…very dark in the tunnel! Im hoping you can race it in the rain or at night though, same with Rio…but STILL no confirmation.
I really cant make up my mind on a buy without this feedback?? Can anyone help…

Well the game is now playable in New Zealand
Someone from there might be able to confirm
East coast of Australia should be playing in about 2 hours too

Really appreciate tbat…thanks for the info. Im still hyped for tbis game but bitterly dissapointed there are not variations for all tracks. Surely Rio at night wouldve been amazing. A missed opportunity I feel…

Lets hope so…to be honest ive just seen a list that tells you day night weather or all three…its not good. It says my faves are STILL just day. Very dissapointing after 2 years if Turn 10 havnt added anything after boasting about the weather! Strange though because I saw Prague on youtube looking dark and gloomy??

The look is determined by the skybox. So while a lot of tracks only have day settings, they have a lot of different day settings. I find the lack of options equally annoying, it’s the one thing I always hated about Gran Turismo and now Forza does the same thing. All settings on all tracks or nothing. I don’t like this mix. I know why they do it, but it doesn’t feel good.

Ok that explains my question above. At least different skyboxes for day only tracks.

Oh ok…that helps explain it…so csn these day settings be adjusted by the user in a private match or is it just random??

Yep and I have seen the same but just what is weather is it sunshine one time and cloudy and foggy the next all tracks will have Weather just not all have weather patterns that include Rain. So they have not lied they have told the truth. They have not explained the truth very well or fully and may have used some poetic licence but they have not Lied.

I also saw Rio screenshots in sunset in acutal reviews.

Didn’t they say in some of the preview videos that tracks have a random time of day (morning, noon, evening)?
Unfortunately we can not choose the desired time.

I think its pretty much what I expected. The base xbox one is holding back the game. On certain maps to have dynamic lighting and weather would not be possible with the base hardware. If engine really did have dynamic weather and lighting it can easily applied via the graphics engine. I believe the other maps would just be too much for the gpu/cpu on the vanilla xbox one. My guess is that when you see the night and day transition and weather, it’ll always be the same, much of the lighting will be baked in not dynamic. I think we can expect fully dynamic weather and lighting on the next gen XBOX, but till then this is probably the best we can expect from the hardware.

It’s not just the base Xbox One. There is no way they could have fully dynamic lighting/weather while staying at 4K/60 on One X. And if you’d do enhanced visuals at 1080p on One X you run into problems with multiplayer. For a true dynamic Forza we will have to wait until Forza 9 four years from now. The console after One X should be out by then and I expect One X to still run next gen Xbox games - though only at 1080p.

No it isn’t. If they incorporate what you’re asking, the game will play at a locked 30 fps even on the X-One X, as CPU power (yes, not GPU) is required for complex physics calculations in a variety of track conditions, not to mention high fidelity sound for all the respective cars and ambient track effects. Trust me. T10 will always give priority to 60 fps and if one set of features is available on one platform, it’s going to be available across the board the same way. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, the One-X is a 4K console for resolution purists. It does not offer anything genuinely innovative or new.

I’m a little bummed that there’s no weather at Bathurst or Watkins Glen… I’ve played Bathurst at night in Project Cars and it is awesome. Also the PC demo you could play Monza at night.

Anyways, if a track is day only, does that mean you can have alternate time of day and alternate sky boxes and shadowing that changes every time?

Monza wasn’t in the demo

I still don’t get why a big first party developer can’t have rain and night for every track, there’s just no logical reason why they can’t.

I like that they’ve added nighttime on Circuit of The Americas. In F6 it was daytime only.

I was actually wondering, can you get night and rain together on the tracks that support night and weather ?

I highly doubt that.

I hope I’m wrong.
