Correct. You won’t see rain at Laguna seca because well it’s not a common occurrence but will frequently at brands hatch.
It’s also plausible that night racing will be limited to tracks where night racing actually occurs. Some tracks may only have different times within a day (dawn, noon, late afternoon) paired with clear skies or some clouds.
So in short there is no “dynamic” in time of day, only selectable time of day. It would be nice if time of day could transition from one to the next over the course of an endurance race.
Maybe I’m WAY overthinking it but when I think selectable time of day I think of what PC has being able to specify the exact time of day that you want, therefore the sun is accurately positioned in the sky and shadows are modeled accordingly.
Will dynamic weather also include variance in temperature? This is very important in the real world and could present interesting variables to work with. I would also hope there’d be many different cloud cover options and not the same one every time.
Probably not the exact time, but maybe range of time similar to options available in FH3 when you make a custom career event. I know they are telling us how new this is a lot, but conceptually I think it’ll be identical to FH3 only with better physics and graphics. It’s really only “new” for the motorsport series.
FM6 touches on this already. You can use the exact same tune for day and night and do very well, but I’ve noticed the handling at night wasn’t the same as during the day and I was forced to change the tune to get the feel I had liked during the day. The average player probably didn’t notice this but I did when trying to make 2nd and 3rd tier leaderboard cars keep up with the top dogs. In some cars I noticed I had to consider things such as roll cage and tire widths to improve grip.
I would guess that the time and weather selection will be the same (if not slightly less detailed) than what what was seen in Horizon 3. You’ll probably have several different generic time slots (Dawn, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Dusk, Evening) as well as a selection of weather conditions (Clear, Fog, Light Rain, Heavy Rain, Stormy, After Rain, etc) and possibly a toggle for static weather or dynamic weather.
While I look forward to having some control over the time of day and weather variables, I was hoping for a higher degree of adjustability. I’m also hoping the cloud cover will have a higher degree of variability.
That would be neat and I interpreted from their interviews that variable clouds will occur. The pessimist in me thinks it’s just a prettier than FH3 feature.
Ok so what I’ve seen is only some tracks can have rain and some can have night races also only some can have weather at all including fog and etc so a good example long beach can only be sunny same with Bathurst and other tracks no I’m not joking and no I’m not happy at all I feel like we’ve been lied to how can some tracks have the features and a lot won’t what we have been shown is tracks that have the features what we’re not being shown is ones that can’t have any rain or change to the weather… I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think so also yes this go’s for night time races can only be in the night and then to day light when you finish but you can’t race in daylight from the night and it’s only on tracks that allow night racing and that is not mentioned anyway and those tracks are the same ones that let night racing in Forza6.
I think until we get our hands on the final game, it’s hard to make definite judgment’s, It was said there is would not be dynamic time, but in AR12Gaming video playing career mode we see night turning to dusk, in other videos, I seen both Prague & Long Beach overcast. What I haven’t seen in those videos about Free Play is how time of day is set. I don’t see a lot of videos where people with early access delved into this too deeply.
Yeah I’ve lost all hope on it now I went back looked at AR12’s gameplay and paused when he had the tracks up and what do you know long beach, laguna seca, Lime Rock, Bathurst, Prague, Rio all only have overcast or a sunny icon no rain or night available really disappointed also tracks that are night racing will only start in the night and the time or dusk will only start to show when your on your final lap and then crossing the line so yeah unfortunately I don’t see this changing the game went gold and we’ll alot of the TRACKS don’t have any weather or even night racing but yeah it’s all there in the gameplay just pause and look at the Track map with the information this didn’t surprise me but hey just shows how gullible some of us can be with E3 and other experience’s.
I dont think there is a dynamic time of day. Big reason is because the game is limited to XBOX One. Sure there is dynamic weather but you can tell alot of the assets in the backgrounds are pre lit. They have to for dynamic weather to work on a console such as the XBOX. Game runs flawlessly but at the cost of pre lit assets, there are parts that are real time lit but at the cost of cpu.
After watching many videos I can collectively confirm that T10 is misleading about how every track is dynamic has time of day and rain. AR12 was scrolling through the track selection in FM 7 in a new video and you can notice how many have day and night cycle and rain, not many! If you wanted to drive NIGHT at Prague, Indianapolis, Long Beach, Maplevalley, Laguna Secca, Monza, Mugello, Rio, road America, Road Atlanta, Sonoma, Suzuka , test track, circuit de Catalunya, brands hatch, Alps, Mount panorama, and Dubai then Forget about it! Those are just the tracks that could be seen, which is far too many that don’t incorporate night racing along with many of those no wet weather. Having a changing skybox from clear clouds to clouds does not make it dynamic T10! I don’t understand how they cannot add any new tracks yet not incorporate at least all the recycle tracks to be completely updated with true day and night cycle and wet weather racing. Extremely disappointed
