Driving on the Left

I guess it just hit me watching the gamescom stream that Austrailians drive on the left, should be an interesting change.

Do you think it will affect the way you play the game or will it not be that much of an adjustment at all?

I never found it a problem in the previous Horizons, never even crossed my mind.

me too

I didn’t think at the time about that either lol.

I don’t think it’d be too much of an adjustment.

Also consider when we race, we’ll be using the entirety of the road we’re on, not just out designated lane(s). It will really only affect you when driving to and from events or just cruising.

Well the rest of us got used to driving on the right ok!

It’s an improvement for me, we’re finally driving on the correct side of the road!

But yeah, it’ll make very little difference I imagine

Will be interesting driving on the left. It will give me good practice before I visit Australia. But, most of the world drives on the right side of the road. The whole left side of the road started back in mid evil times because most people were right handed and felt that it was easier to ride a horse on the left side of the road with the sword in the right hand.

I think that will be interesting to drive in Forza horizon 3, because the game is with a very good form and will be not repetitive because the map is much bigger that the forza Horizon 2

I always get confused when I switch between games that have me drive on opposite sides of the road. I was playing State of Decay the other day, and I kept getting into the passenger seat after playing Sleeping Dogs.

It’s not as bad as pressing RB in a FPS and then remembering that I’m not playing Halo, though.

Because most games are made in America (just like everything) I have become accustomed to driving on the right hand side of the road. I just got my L plates a few weeks ago and I must say that it feels perfectly normal to be driving on the left hand side of the road (I live in Aus). But some how when I watched the GamesCom footage it felt weird watching the cars on the left hand side?

I don’t know why I feel that way but I think it will be interesting when I finally get my hands on the demo.

I’m not surprised that Horizon would be location specific. Isn’t playground games a European company anyways?

Might be due to the cars being shown were left hand drive? It has never felt odd to be in/drive a car on the opposite side too me (muscle memory might take over some times), but when my Nanna took her right hand drive Clio to Germany were she spends half the year, it felt really odd sitting in the passenger seat but in the centre of the road.

No problem here. Typically when I would play FM4 Fuji (cruises) I would hug the left lanes as if I were really in Japan. With flowing traffic in the game, I think anyone who finds it weird will adjust to it very quickly due to the potential hazards of hitting oncoming traffic. The only thing that may be weird for me is getting on/off center divided highways if they have such things, but we’ll find out once the game comes out.

I should make the game better. Finally I can drive without feeling I’m on the wrong side of the road, like I do in FH2

Years ago I spent some time overseas and was able experience driving on the opposite side of the road. Granted the cars I drove overseas were right-hand drive cars. Driving a left-hand drive car on the left side of the road is going to be very interesting.

Anyone else struggling to adapt to driving on the left side of the road? Lol. Natural to me day to day life but after all the racing games with oncoming on the left its in my brain to stay right on a blind bend etc :weary::joy:

By no way is this a complaint im just curious if anyones in the same boat and crashing every 10 seconds. Taking some adapting to lol.

Even as someone who lives in the UK, I can’t get used to it…

I think I got used to this through Euro Truck Sim. It won’t take too long.

This is a huge change driving on left side, especially when it comes down to being in a left steering car which puts you sitting on the left edge of the road as you drive about. The best will be to use right steering drivers as much as possible. It takes some orientation getting used to the switch, but once in a while you’ll still find yourself moving into the right lane thinking you’re in the US or Germany. But yeah, this will be weird indeed.
