Drivatar behavior

About drop kicked my Xbox out the window racing in the formula ford event. Like you all I’ve been destroying the ai on unbeatable but then noooope. Get a better run out of corner? Watch as the ai hits the nitrous and roasts your car even with manual and clutch on in a spec race where the cars are identical. I ended up turning the difficulty down to highly skilled for some races then others I blow them away on unbeatable. Lol still enjoying the game a bunch but there are a lot of issues

I thought was just me! I had Limit Aggression: On and the drivatars were trying to knock me off the track and did a few times. They do seem to drive more predictably, however, when doing a clean pass they are now trying to knock me off the road.

Loving FM7 so far, but the one thing that irritates the crap out of me is the AI!

They seem glued to the racing line, not noticing their surroundings. When you overtake a drivatar they just steer into the corner like nobody’s business crashing into you… It’s like drivatars just don’t see you.
also I was doing the endurance race in the breakout competition and the ai went into the pit in lap 22 of 23, are you kidding me?

I have the ai on limited aggression, will switch and see what happens…

Unbeatable AI

The pictures in the link should really say it all, but I’ll go on a rant anyway.

Been playing Forza games since FM2 and I’ve always known that unbeatable AI difficulty just gives them fake speed and handling, but this is just stupid. In every Forza game unbeatable AI is still easy for me to tackle, usually finishing standard length races 5+ seconds ahead of the AI depending on the track. However, I have NEVER seen such an outright smack to the face as this, keep winning my career races over and over, just to have the game say “oh lets make these AI run top 20 times just so he can’t win everything.”

I purposely race on the long setting here in FM7 as to add some realism and calmly work my way through the pack, instead of just punting AI off the track or cutting corners on first lap since they take the first few corners at like 2 mph. Seems like I do 3-4 races with unbeatable AI being the standard unbeatable, then I get one of these where the top 4 AI run LB times for the division. It’s honestly seeming like you WANT your players to get in the habit of playing bumper cars and corner cutting, which then they of course carry over into multiplayer…

All these strikes just piling up, are you really trying to make sure no one ever preorders an ultimate edition from you guys again T10? Would love an actual response, but I know the thread will just be locked soon.

Ive found on certain tracks the top AI are almost impossible to catch, on maple vally any car I use actually slows down when I get close to them its so frustrating I don’t know if its frame rate or some kind of stutter but it doesn’t effect the AI.

On other tracks they just seem to have magical grip and power not all tracks I just can’t figure it out.

I’ve had a number of issues so far with the game so far in all honesty but I’ve found workarounds for most of these and expect them to be ironed out within the next couple of updates. However something that is currently ruining the racing for me is the AI drivers. So far since I increased the difficulty to the +60% CR option I have had issues with the AI constantly running me off the track regardless of what the Limit aggression option is set to (it’s so bad that I’ve actually noticed absolutely no difference while using this option). I’m only a few races into the game and so far the actual driving level of the leaders in each race seems about right for me at this difficulty, it’s just getting to front of the pack that is the issue. The drivatars just seem excessively aggressive and take absolutely no notice of your line throughout corners, they will always attempt to use the full width of the track regardless of where you are and the right of way. This is particularly annoying with a wheel and dash camera as it’s much more difficult to see what they’re up to than with the chase cam. Secondly the driving is often pretty amateur from some drivers, mid corner slamming on the brakes has caught me out a few times. They’ll seem to be going well so I’ll tuck in behind them and then rear end them when they have put their foot through the brake pedal for no particular reason! It’s what I expect from multiplayer on GTA stunt races, not single player Forza.

I have not enjoyed racing with the drivatars whatsoever, and they seem to make the same mistakes each race too when you restart instead of any element of randomness being incorporated. The shunting and generally poor racing was getting too much for me already. I thought I had imagined the limit aggression being backwards, going to try again and see if it’s any better.

This is very easy and I will get straight to the point.
The limit aggression option in the drivatar difficulty is switched some how so if you have the limit aggression option switched to ON, the AI will sideswipe you and crash into you like they don’t see you (basically what most of you have been having issues with and complaining since launch.

If you switch the limit aggression option to OFF you will notice the AI avoiding you and trying not to hit you just like how you remember them from previous forza titles and even improved. Ahhh finally clean racing.

This is not a joke, try it out for yourselves.

This worked.

I couldn’t even beat average skill because of all the ramming and aggressive AI driving. I just did 3 races and now I beat highly skilled fairly easily.

That was one of the first things I did. The racing is pretty good in this game. I have both assists and AI difficulty set up in such a way that I have to work for my wins !

One thing they seem to have solved this time is the one drvitar that always drove like they were on rails and out drove all the others often racing off into the distance and could never be caught let alone passed regardless of what level the drivitars were set at, one thing that happens now though is the drvitars seem to mimic the worst attributes of some online racers, also when I did the endurance showcase event of 23 laps around Spa the drivers I was lapping would often block and drive as though there were still racing me rather than being lapped.

Can confirm, for some reason they drive cleaner if you don’t limit the aggression. With aggression limited, it’s like they don’t even see me and just run into me in corners, which strangely dosen’t happen with aggression enabled.

Note: This is my first Forza game, so maybe this is the Forza way.
I was so dang happy to hear Forza Motorsports was coming to PC. I waited so long to play a full Forza game, until i met the AI. The most Horrible AI experience i have had in a racing game, IMO. That is sad, bc i play alot of them. I dont understand it, is it a Forza thing to just beat the crap out of each others car? Its almost impossible to race the AI clean, they will jack your car up. I play with all assist off like most people here. Its like im playing online with a bunch kids that dont have a clue of their surroundings.

It makes you feel like they want you to drive dirty and to me, thats not a good racing game. If i want that ill play need for speed,GTA or The Next Car Game(wreckfest). I can live with the glitches and bugs, every game has them now on release. Thats just life,(although i have strong feelings that this need to change in every game) but i really doubt they will take the time to redo the AI. Do you guys think they will, you been playing Forza for a while now. I held off on Project cars 2 and happily gave my $100. If the AI would not be so stupid, i would love this game alot. It has alot to offer in regards to vehicles and customization. Even though there is no real championship for any of them. I said this in another thread, i guess i was expecting to much from this particular game. there is always hope for a revamp on the AI though, if enough people are annoyed by it. If you are a fanboy, dont get your feathers ruffled, its just Forza noob perspective.

I do agree too, turning limit aggression off is way better. They still are not aware of you but it definitely makes for much better racing.

Livery setting aswell somehow does work with off setting… It`s going to be pretty confusing when they fix this bug. The toughest race i ever played in any forza game was open wheel legends, love driving the car but i got destroyed by ai so many times…

Ive really only been playing the SP but doesnt matter what I set the drivatar to, easy and Limit Aggression on/off it doesnt seem to matter on how aggressive the AI is.

I can be running full speed down a straight away and the AI cars will slam right into the side of me and just keep pushing into me unless I let off the gas.
Not only that but they ram the rearend every chance they get and PIT maneuver non-stop.

I didnt play much if any at all SP in FM6, just MP and Rivals but I dont remember AI being like this. And the Limit Aggression option does nothing it seems.

I noticed this also. It is almost as if they run a pre-programmed line regardless of where you are on the track. What’s worse, I’ve tried to push them back but they seem to have super-traction.

Fm6 was not like this at all. I played the SP 100% through - even the 2-3hour endurance races. Those AI cars were mich more aware of your position.

Yeah Ive even tried to spin them out just to test it. Most of the time its like trying to push a tank with a riding mower. Super traction is an understatement.
Come to think of it, it was FM5 that I didnt play SP in but I did in FM6 and yeah they werent like this.

I did watch some of my replays and I think your right. It looks like no matter where you are they always follow the same line, the AI doesnt react when you start slowing down or change lanes so to speak.
I did the same race a few times and they AI cars seem to always brake and turn at the same spots everytime of which turns into watching the AI just bash each other fighting for the same driving line like they have no clue the other car is in the way.

Forza 6 is exactly like this, I have a clip of 2-4 AI’s pushing me sideways down the first straight at Bathurst in the Bathurst endurance race, I’ve been spun out and pushed off by the AI. I don’t have Forza 7, but what I’ve seen of the gameplay so far suggests that the AI were copied and pasted from Forza 6 … they even brake in the same spots in Spa where they don’t need to.

As i see in forums threads and my friends comments , raising difficulty not making them a better driver but making drivatar cars more powerful than cars actual stats . My friend said he tried pro difficulty and drivatar cars became magically faster in straights . And in unbeatable lol he said they are “unbeatable” . He said they were becoming dom(ff reference) in straights , senna in turns even theres rain and T-800 in corners(trying to say they ramming you like you were not there) . So as i understand its just make the car powerful and better beyond cars actual stats .
