Simply put, I’m glad its in the game, but after playing a couple drift adventures 7 minutes is waaaay to long, gameplay+loading times and everything else means one drift adventure is around ~25 minutes. The problem with seven minutes is the goal is too vague and and unnecessary. Things I’ve noticed from this:
-At the end of every race you are going to have a minute or so of gameplay where you know you won’t be able to clock in that lap so you are just wasting time on the track.
-Players are mentally checking out after 2-3 laps because they don’t feel the need to continue
-7 minutes means the maximum laps changes from track to track, this only adds to the fuzziness of the competition
EDIT After some back and forth I think cutting drift adventure to 5 minutes may the best solution**
/I think 3 laps would be a much better experience. You have one lap to warm up/feel out the course and competition, and two laps to put in a serious effort. I feel this would lead to a much more focused experience that would give a better goal and less wasted time. Of course some of you may disagree with this, but frankly at the moment Drift Adventure is just too dragged out and needs a change./
I want to reiterate though its a great idea, people spend so much time as is just hooning around adding a gameplay means to actually rank up with competition and progress on the festival playlist was a good call.
Too long too boring. I thought that would help me escape the chaos of the racing rooms but I rather deal with the dirty drivers than stay in those drift lobbies. I will tough it out to get a rank but then i’m gone lol
How you would make this? In drifting there is huge difference how fast peoples run in one lap, i get lapped almost every race yesterday, so what is your idea to make 3 laps so experience is better? If it would be that race ends 30 second after first person finnish imagine what happend when somebody pick up fastest possible car and just race 3 laps as fast as possible meanwhile drifters cant finnish even 2nd lap. And i dont see that in good experience either if you finnish first and then just watch standing page as long that everybody is finnish because that would lead that some peoples need to spent minutes to just wait other peoples to reach finnish line.
There are some fair points made but either way drift adventure needs to be clipped, the immediate reactions in the forums are that its too time consuming.
Perhaps cutting down to 5 minute is a simpler solution? Regardless something needs to be done.
I did one adventure today and most races doing 3 laps take abaout 6 minutes (lower class RWD lobby) im pretty fine abaout 7 minute, my biggest reason why it’s feel bit boring is because it dont give that competive feeling than actual racing do. One reason for that is that you can drive all 7 minutes and not see guys who are close in points.
YES, this!, 3 laps, not time, i’m always sitting down when i did 3 laps cuz i know i won’t make it any better, so i just grab my phone and make time until the race finishes (don’t forget to move the car when the timer prompts otherwise you’ll get kicked).
I would also like that there would be score multipliers according to your position in the race, to avoid ppl that go really slow to get the most points, and to add another level of tactic to the gameplay, that along with points carrying over into the 2nd and 3rd lap, would make the best system for me.
A high speed, really cool drifting competition.
Hear hear for 5 minutes! Its right at the 5 minute mark that it begins to get tedious. 2nd is the highest ive finished overall and that was on rally suspension. I need to try and build a car on actual drift suspension
I have not played a drift adventure yet. I’m a mediocre drifter as well. Here are my 2 cents based on this thread :
30 minutes for a ranked game seem pretty default to me. FFA is around 30 mins. CS GO matches are longer. DotA games are longer. PUBG is around the 30th minute mark. I believe LoL is also around that time mark. Cutting the time to 5 mins is saving, what? 6 mins? A whole map. I personally want to spend more time driving than looking at the loading screen. Having a fixed number of laps is a waste in my opinion, unless one can drift perfectly 3 laps 100 % of the time. What happens when I screw up 2 corners, I’d like to stop drifting and finish the lap as quick as possible so I can start another one. Why would you want to have 2 corners cost you a whole lap?
Drift points are awarded based on speed and angle. Max awarded points for speed cap at 145 KPH/90 MPH. That was said on the update stream. Going slower than that means you’re not getting as much as you could be getting, meaning going slower doesn’t work out.
Setting a score multiplier based on position is like : This adventure used to be about drifting. Now you need to outrace everyone while drifting.
From what I’ve seen on the stream, drift adventure is just fine as it is as of now. There are other issues that need to be addressed first.
25 minute lobbies usually whenever freeroam is included, I havent had a chance to time the street and road race rooms yet but its probably 15-20 mins. Most races are 3-4 mins long then you add in load times. The rooms would be a longer if marathon or colossus are in the playlist.
I wish they would have just used the current drift zones or made new ones for the event and just given us a few attempts each. Just throwing us onto tracks that only have a few corners that you can properly link together and the rest straightaways where every just boringly manji drifts are really not super interesting nor a display of actual drifting skill. Within a week everyone will just be using the various cheese vehicles with no variety at all.
What is the point of having random drift adventure class and drive train???
I spent 20 min just quitting until I got S1-S2 RWD. It’s just dumb!!!
Also drift in winter… brilliant minds there at Turn10 …
This game mode is a great idea. Unfortunately the car select is complete garbage! You can’t even filter favorites. Way to make a game mode un-playable to about half your customers. I’m done with this sorry excuse of a game!
A lot of people seem to quit very quickly. I don’t think I’ve had more than 6 people left at the end so far.
What’s the highest league anyone here has reached? I’m cementing my mediocrity with league 12 after 7 ranked adventures. You can see your league in the menu, horizon life, stats, online adventure, it’s the league with a blank heading. I’m consistently competitive against people somewhere in the middle of the table for each championship, with a couple of aliens way out of reach at the top.
I got league 14, when I looked last night only ten people had got a rank, I think the highest was 9 (one person) and I was 8th in the world which obviously won’t last very long.
Either I was getting put consistently with people near my skill level, or (more likely I am guessing) the only people playing this mode are mostly pretty damn good at drifting and super competitive. Everyone in the matches I played was close except, as you say, usually a few near the top who were getting 100-200k more than most of the rest of us. I got a 2nd once, usually I was way lower. Lower but still in the ballpark. Maybe I can close the gap by figuring out the best cars and tunes. Then again I think I did pretty well, I doubt I can drive much better than I was doing.
My biggest annoyance is that I can’t choose RWD or AWD for Ranked Adventure, and there is no way to back out unless you don’t mind being temporarily banned. I don’t drift in AWD, and then I get stuck in an AWD Adventure with no cars built for it. Please allow us to choose the drivetrain we want to drive.
I’m the opposite, I’m entirely used to the S2 AWD drifting and am not keen on RWD, particularly in the B-A class. I groan when I get that in winter, it’s hard work. I appreciate real life drift cars are RWD but I doubt they do it in the snow.
Drifting in winter IRL is super fun. I havent got winter adventure yet but most roads in this game dont have snow so i will use same cars than i use other seasons.
@breeminator i got league 12 after two adventures, in first one i was 3rd and and i won second one.
