With the PI system in FM7, the PI for drag tires and its allowance to have reduced PI can sometimes make cars faster around tracks and give the car an incredible amount of braking power. This factor makes drag tires feel unrealistic for their designated purpose and create lap times that should not be there.
Drag Tires should either:
1 - have an increase in PI in all cases
2 - Turn worse than they already do
3 - Be restricted to drag races/drag hoppers only
You’re absolutely right that the drag tires turn too well. A front engine RWD car with drag slicks on all 4 corners should not be able to handle lateral g’s like they do in FM7 or FH5.
Personally I’d like to see a change where only the drive wheels receive the drag tires and the non-drive wheels (on RWD and FWD) receive semi-slicks (assuming that those make the jump from FH5 to the new FM).
It’s at least reasonable for for a front engine RWD car with semi-slicks up front and drag slicks on the rear to have strong braking and decent turn-in (if you are smooth). But you should get some wobble as soon as there is moderate lateral force being applied to the drag tires. If you try to power out of a corner on that combo the rear end should be walking all over the place.

I barely noticed a difference between racing tires and drag slicks. The drags don’t corner quite as well but they offered almost no straight line difference on launch.
in this game the drag tires look to turn even a little better than forza 7 did. this doesn’t really make sense
True - There’s no point in drag tires even… the game has no drag mode! why do they return the abysmal upgrades it there’s no game modes for them?
In FH5 I used drag tires in races because the launch grip is insane, they made some extremely powerful undrivable-on-race-slicks cars drivable.
I tried it in FM, they make almost no difference in straight line grip and on top of that they wear extremely fast. I’m talking they’re half gone after a single lap.
So yeah drag tires are 150% absolutely useless in FM.
