Downgrading cars from higher classes?

While racing in the B/600 Hopper last night I saw the following car get selected in a lobby*:

Given that it’s a race-spec car (ie: has a #__ in its name) I was surprised that it could be loaded into B/600, but I assumed there would be some sort of engine swap or similar that’d drastically reduce its PI. I asked the player about this and got no response. He’s normally a clean and competitive player but his car choice for this race seemed odd.

After the race I went and bought the car myself, it has a stock PI rating of S/739, and looking through the car’s Upgrade options I found no way to bring the PI down by anything more than 2-3 points (wheel rims). So based on those findings I believe this was a “glitch setup”.

Has anybody else seen something similar, or found out how this could happen? I’m not sure if Turn 10 is aware of it but I sent the screenshot to some Turn 10 people (and Snowowl) last night just incase.

On FM5 I raced some one C class ferrari TR 512 at Laguna that ran a 135.2xx(top 50 at the time). Which blow my mind, bc this car is a turd for this track. I when look at the boards, and showed it was a Honda mugen. On 6, there a lot of bad #1 on the LB from higher class cars.

Can you still do the trick where you can take off the stock turbo? If so, then that’s probably what’s happening.

I don’t remember the trick from previous games (ie: how to do it) but from what I saw last night the Audi has no conversion options.

I think you had to buy conversion, buy race turbo, buy race intercooler, and then sell race turbo (or maybe it was the conversion). In the end your left with a N/A motor with an intercooler. The weight from intercooler would add weight and drop PI.

Ok i just tried it and to make this a B-class car you have to install the race turbo ( wich as someone explained in that other thread actually lowers the power and thus lowers the pi), fit drag tyres, wider rear tyres and finally the heaviest rims available. I would never try to race with drag tyres though so it’s pretty useless for me.

Edit: this could be pretty fun in A-class though with that turbo (glitch?) and proper race tyres.

Changing just the turbo is enough to get it into A Class; I got absolutely spanked by one in a hopper, so I had to buy it and see just how an S-class car can be in an A-class race

I guess I didn’t do enough research then, was looking at Conversion options and not the Drag Tyres/Turbo.

How do Drag Tyres handle on this game? I haven’t used them since Forza Motorsport 4 where they were required to simulate tyre wear.

Just tried the Audi myself, seems to handle well but at B/600 has very weak straight like performance. It might do well on mega-grip tracks like Sonoma however.

Has anyone tried any of the other BTCC/WTCC cars to see if they can also be dropped? Might have some good alternatives to the Mono at A/700 if that’s the case.

I was able to drop a Lamborghini Urus yesterday simply by converting it to RWD

Drive train swaps are even easier to drop than the aspiration glitch, From 4WD to RWD always drops the PI a big chunk

Just tried this Audi myself. Meh… Upgrading to a race turbo seems to downgrade it. Do the drag tires and heavy rims, you’re easily in B600 territory, but the car just isn’t that great like this. Tried it on Laguna Seca, and could only do a so-so time with it. Handles nice, that’s about it.

The Audi in A-Class is a beast, like the Lancia Montecarlo in S-Class. And that’s not very hard to get them at those classes (change engine, rims, size of rims, …)
But I will never try to race with drag tires.

I put a B600 tune on the storefront for the #67 Audi yesterday after reading this thread. The car has loads of grip and handles great for a car with drag tires and can be driven with no assists whatsoever. It is consistently 4 to 5 seconds off the #1 slot on the leaderboards so you are not going to set records with it. It is just a fun alternative to drive. Traditionally, declassed or detuned cars are never as good as their counterparts, they are just fun to drive. Anyways if you want to try the tune get in the car and search for keyword B600 and give us your opinion. I geared it so it’s good off the line, tuned it so it has loads of grip in corners and ran minimal downforce so you get as much speed as possible. The car sticks like glue and I even picked good looking rims as well.

Have Fun
