Placed it at #34, Road America Alt. My tune is also very similar to yours, just a little more aggressive on the rear weight bias to help it turn.
Tried it at Yas but the penalty system at that track can be infuriating. Take the curbs at that horrid chicane at the south end of the track and you get a penalty, but then on the final turn you can cut across pit lane. Just stupid.
Nice job FOOT! Please give me some time to learn a LOT more driving skills and do leave some breathing room for us the rookies to get some good lap times in the LBs.
Wow, that’s #16. I knew it was good but I didn’t realize it was that good. I saw Fat Burns ran a Kia today on that track too and hit #11 on the leaderboard. I know he tunes his own, so I’m sure he built his own.
With your #16, Akra1X’s #21 on Yas, and Foot’s #34 on RA Alt, I’m starting to think this is a little more than just a solid all around car. They are some really impressive times by the three of you.
I just ran against your ghost and was able to stay right with you up until the split. You go through those 4 turns before coming out to the oval crazy fast. I ran 5 laps against you and you just pulled away from me in that area every time. I couldn’t beat my own time as I only managed a 1:35.1. I definitely plan on running against your ghost more often. I need to figure out how to duplicate the way you take those 4 turns. I think it might be time to force myself to get rid of ABS too, you definitely stop faster than me. There was another track I was running about a month ago against someone and the biggest difference was their stopping distance. I forget the track and who it was though, but I know we were pretty close in our times. I failed to beat them too…
Finally got a clean lap at Yas, #73 2:29.512. But I used your tune for that and got on well with it. Mine has springs at 415/690 and ARBs at 30/40, I think the back was a little too stiff for the curbs as it kept stepping out on me.
You should try it in B class. I was able to beat your ghost on a few tracks with it. Most of them I can’t get close to you though, you’re just too darn fast. Just keep the tune the way it is, but add a restrictor plate to add more HP and then use the remaining PI however you want. I threw all of mine into handling for B. Its slightly better in C class, but its no slouch in B class either. The existing tune takes care of the understeer in B class too, but that could be because I used all the extra PI for handling. I was going to experiment with knocking the handling down some and adding a sport trans so I can change the final drive setting. No idea if that will help or not, but its worth a shot. I kind of think wheel spin will be too big of a factor if I knock the handling down, but we’ll see. I don’t have a lot of time in the car in B class yet though. I ran it in a private B class lobby the other night and cleaned up except for Long Beach. I’m just terrible on that track though. I think I posted 2 top 100’s with it in B class (don’t quote me on that and I’m too lazy to look it up for confirmation).
If you build it in B class, at least you’ll be comparing it to someone really good in that class… Yourself!
Just ran Road America Alt again and bettered my time slightly. I ran a 2:34.315 which is good for #64 on the LB. Still about a full second behind Foot though…
Not that I’m bragging… Well, ok, maybe just a little :)… I just ran against Foot’s Trans Am on Road America Full and beat it. Ran a 2:25.546 which is good for #69. Akra1x has me beat by .5 seconds in the Kia on that track though. He’s in the 40’s.
Lou, I took up your challenge for RA Full. I built my own tune as I couldn’t get on with yours on that track, I beat your time; but only just. I also knocked out Silverstone GP, Catalunya GP, and Spa while I was at it, just the for lol’s. I may redo Spa yet, since that was done in your tune, my own tune feels much more comfortable to drive with my wheel.
Cataluya GP: 2:02.709 | 161 on LB
Silverstone GP: 2:21.354 | 86 on LB
Road America full: 2:25.523 | 67 on LB
Spa: 2:29.949 | 98 on LB
Don’t tease me… what’s different about your tune? You don’t need to share the specifics if you don’t want to, but generally speaking, what’s different?
The biggest difference is in the suspension settings, though I did change out a part here an there also. I could be faster in the Kia, but that 1.6 turbo rally engine doesn’t really fit my driving style; I had to run with the telemetry up so that I could shift up when the BHP started to drop off. I was losing ground to you on the straights, I only got past your ghost because I was taking the corners slightly better with the adjusted suspension settings.
I got you back on RA… 2:25.508, now I’m #67 Foot is next, but I’m not all that sure how to make up 3 tenths yet.
BTW, I think you meant 2:39.949 on Spa. 2:29 would put you in the top spot on that leaderboard. I can’t get a clean lap there below 2:40. I’ve had a bunch of them at 2:39 and even one at 2:38.8 but they were all dirty. Keep going dirty on Eu Rouge (or however you spell it). I just miss that and then run the rest of the lap great. When I do make it there, then I mess up somewhere else on the lap. Very frustrating as its one of my better tracks too.
Psst, hey Swerve, your Challenger is looking mighty lonely way down there on the Road America Leaderboard, might want to add some of that power you were talking about earlier
I had one of these when the game first came out and really enjoyed driving it. Just was’nt enough power to set top times. Never thought of using the rally engine. Definitely going to run this, this evening. The rebound seems a little low but if it works it works. Thanks
That’s why I threw it up here as open source, feel free to tweak it any way you see fit. If you have success with a different setting though, please share it…
