Does not launch anymore on i7-3770 CPU

Hi,
Until now I could play the game without issues on my old PC, with 3rd gen i7 3770 CPU.
But since the last update(15), the game does not want to start anymore.
When I launch the game, only the splash screen shows, after which it disappears and nothing happens.
Is there any solution to fix this?
Or the latest update finally made impossible to run the game on such old CPU?

Dont think this is a compatibility issue but more of an installation issue. Try creating a new windows profile and launch the game from there.

Your CPU is under the minimum requirements. If it doesn’t work anymore, well then there is nothing you can do about it. Maybe it needs something your CPU can’t do.

Maybe it needs newer stuff like AVX2 or something I don’t know. They don’t guarantee that the game runs with your CPU.

From what I’ve tested & from what I can tell there’s something changed in the game executable itself since the last update, not some other files that are crucial to run one might suspect to be modified, like d3d12core.dll or something. I believe it’d be extremely easy & won’t require much effort for devs to make a patch/hotfix & deploy it since it’s definitely NOT a complete rendering pipeline rewrite, or something else that would be guaranteed to NOT run on an Ivy Bridge CPU, AVX2 instructions set involved or not.
Basically, what I’m saying is, since the game isn’t being globally overhauled (RTGI is still an option, not a forced requirement. Many people would still prefer to play with it toggled off to preserve the framerate), and the game ran without an issue beforehand, there’s no just reason for the game to NOT run on 3770 now, as it still should be playable (to even the lowest degree, yes, but playable) on that CPU, or any other CPU really that could still run the game prior to Update 15. This hardware check should be removed from the executable because it does more harm than good.

This is interesting because many people and myself included are finding our unsupported cpu’s are crashing before the game can launch. My Clock speeds spike to around 70ish%, power spikes to around 44w and getting 100% load for a split second.

Most of us are just wondering if this is another bug or have they changed something… although FH5 is still running perfectly for me

CPU is a i7 3770k and yes I’ve been meaning to buy a new rig but I am just saving for it.

Same here but I have i73990 and have been running the game at ultra and haven’t had any problems until the December update. I think it’s not signing in like other times when I was signed in already with x box app , a window popped up to sign in
then I clicked ok and the game would start . I think somebody goofed up on that last update. maybe the next update it will work. It might take year considering the history of the same game problems.

Some are thinking they might be spreading the load across more cores so it runs better.

Every post made about having issues with this update all have unsupported cpu’s.

Just saw they had fixed the import of liveries. Finally!
Decided to launch Motorsport which I hadn’t done in a long time.
Splash screen, then nothing. Same CPU same issue.
Used to work “perfectly well”-that is, as well as Motorsport could which is not saying much.

I understand that a game will be released with minimum specs but they should not be allowed to restrict hardware that used to work on launch. They’re suddenly excluding people who have bought and used the game!

I agree and I think this is what causing FM just went disappeared into thin air after the splash and it didn’t even sync to the latest saved game progress..

Before December update my pc runs perfectly fine, never had any issue running FM with Xeon E5 2630 V2, the base clock maybe a bit low at 2.2Ghz with turbo boost up to 3.0Ghz but it’s 6c 12t proc with 32Gb quad channel rams, modded bios for my Rampage IV to run nvme SSD, I know it’s not perfect system with GTX 1660Ti but it runs 60fps @ 2560 x 1080p and I can play the game, I can race just fine and make liveries just fine..

I don’t think my Xeon is too slow for FM, because I also tested FM just recently on my Legion Y530 laptop with i7 8750H (6c 12t mobile proc with base clock @ 2.2Ghz with 4.10 Ghz boost) GTX 1050Ti 16Gb dual channel rams, it just launched and run with no problem..

I also have FH5 installed on both my PC and Legion Y530.. and FH5 runs just fine, heck.. I previously even install FH5 on my old 13 inch ThinkPad E330 with upgraded cpu to i7 3632QM 16Gb dual channel rams and external gpu setup, it just run perfectly fine..

So I’d suspect the reasoning is not just technical as described above, but rather I suspect forcing people to buy new PC, they failed to do so with Win 11, and now they’re forcing by blocking FM to launch.., heck I hate Win 11.. even with Win 10 I limit my security update just up to certain update version and blocked the newer ones..

So since Ivy Bridge i7 3770 can’t launch FM anymore as well as Ivy Bridge Xeon.. and they also delay Fable and FH6 to 2026.. I wonder what they up to?? Hmm.. maybe I should test run FM on my old E330 with external GPU setup?? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
