When you win a race in 2nd or 3rd place, it doesn’t show it on the map. It just says “completed” highlighted in gold. Suppose you went through a tough race, won 2nd place, and want to go back to it later? You won’t remember your best record if it just says “completed”. This forces people to get 1st place on the spot without going back to the race later. Horizon 3 displayed gold, silver, or bronze medals after a race was completed. Horizon 4 does not. If all the races just say “completed” on the map, regardless of how the player did, this destroys all motivation to win races when you can’t keep track of your progress. It’s showing it doesn’t matter how you did. It’s still completed. You still won. Just breeze through it, and it shows “completed” anyway. This sounds like a political tactic to me, as if “everyone is a winner” or “no child left behind.”. Anyone else feel this way? Or is there a way to check individual race records? There’s no medals, no best time, no best lap? This isn’t a deal breaker, since I still highly enjoy the game. But it still bothers me because it feels like they’re taking away emphasis on competition.
After completing, did you check the world map and scroll to the race? Did you specifically win 2nd or 3rd place?
It might not show if you win from 4th to last. You on Xbox or PC?
Yes, indeed. I am wondering if this is by design (I hope not, it seems way weird) or just a bug. But this needs to change. I can’t find any indication in game of which events I have won and which I have not.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way about it. To me, it really feels like a “no player left behind” tactic, and I agree that it should be patched soon. Keep the politics out of racing games, please. Bring back gold, silver, bronze records, as well as lap times. Give players that extra drive to win.
Doesn’t matter what it shows when you no need to win a race to go further. It’s the same for both FH3 and FH4. That casual friendly design ruins everything. The whole career in FH3 and FH4 feels like unbalanced mess.
As I’ve said elsewhere, the more I play and see of this game the more disappointed I am. How could PG drop the ball like this after all the backlash T10 copped for FM7 at launch?
Aaand we have a winner. After the critical and financial success FH3 was I saw it coming but believed in the good work PG delivered in the past.
I was proven wrong.
It’s the “do whatever you want and progress” concept newer “games as a service” titles are doing. Including everyone, don’t differentiate between good and bad players, reward everyone constantly with shiny bling-bling (wheelspins). In short: create a happy place without individual performance.
This. I didn’t even realise until yesterday when i wanted to go back & do a few events i didn’t come 1st place in. Every event thats been done has a gold trophy & just says completed!??
Why on earth did they think that was a good choice. It’s bad enough giving you a gold trophy & saying you’ve completed the race no matter where you come but not even telling you what place you came is ridiculous.
It has no sense of completion, progression or satisfaction. I don’t want a gold trophy on a event unless i actually win that event. I want to be told which race i didn’t come first in so i can go back & try it again.
The craziest thing for me was when I was trying to do everything at Unbeatable. I managed to get first in the Marathon, Gauntlet, etc but the Cross-Country one I just couldn’t do. The first time I finished it I was in something like 9th place and I had the commentators popping up saying how I was the new Cross-Country champion!
How? I lost!
I’m all for allowing rank ups and continual progression regardless of placing as it does reduce frustration, but it would be good to keep track of what we have or have not actually won so we can always go back to do better. It’d be nice if it was tracked based on difficulty too, even it’s just the base “Horizon Presents” default. I’m still absolutely addicted to the game and can’t wait for the evening to come so I can play more, but this would be a nice improvement to have.
For me it was the opposite. I won the race and the commentators told me “to bad, better luck next time”. When i drove it the other day i was placed 4th, and the commentator said “yay, youre the new champion”. Could be a bug.
I literally thought it was a bug at first or that they were hiding race stats/what place i came in which race somewhere else.
I honestly don’t understand how they looked at it & thought yea thats a great idea. Let’s not show people what place they came in the races & give them a gold trophy even if they don’t win.
It needs patching asap & people need to +1 this thread until they do.
