Are there people who play FH5 just, or primarily, to drag race?
Good question. I might… IF… the game had real drag racers in it. Rail and Funny Car dragsters with monster rears, wheelie bars that were actually needed because we could actually do standing start wheelies, functioning christmas trees, and what the heck since I’m wishing for horses throw in working drag chutes too. Hey, I can dream
No, because drag racing in Forza in general (including both Motorsport and Horizon) has always been poorly implemented. Since players still have the option to use the automatic transmission, it’s very easy for most players to cheese these kind of races since there’s no added depth (even arcade games like Need for Speed and The Crew force you to use manual, so you’re doing so much more than just mashing the throttle).
It’s even worse in Horizon than it is in Motorsport since you can’t build up any revs before the race starts. Also, if there’s one race type where the Drivatars cheat more than Cross Country, it’s in the drag races.
I never do drag events because I play Single Player and the AI is cheating so bad in drag races. I have to wind it down to amateur to have a normal race without the AI catapulting away at the start.
In free roam I do like to try my cars out at the Horizon Festival drag strip. There’s a Speed Trap where you can see how you did. Sadly you can’t measure your time though
Only on the weekends–oh wait, you meant that…
FH3 has killer drag racing live. I’d never really drag raced until I stumbled upon lobby in FH3. Wish they had bracket racing, I had a D Pacer and 49 Merc that crushed it, s1 and S2 Hemi Darts that were killer. Lot of fun. Got a Hemi S2 Dart into an 18s mile. 21-22 for D’s. Aussie Charger owned B class.
458S pretty awesome, and an insane A XE sedan that was sleeper.
Drag racing has such a LONG way to go within the game. I doubt there will be any major changes in the new Motorsport game.
I don’t think my honest opinion on drag racing would illicit a good reaction on the forums.
A strong one perhaps, but definitely not a good one.
Still, an essential race type if for nothing more than testing purposes.
I like drag races with purpose built dragsters (funny cars, et al), but a game mode where the game part is likely to be shorter than the load time (not to mention the intro, selection, victory screens and such) isn’t very attractive.
Good point
Perhaps they should rework it so you have to do a burnout first, then line up and wait for the Christmas tree to turn green. In the meantime you can rev your engine for a proper launch. Hmm yes, it should definitely be reworked
Maybe, as it has been said before, it should have a small tournament tree for solo and online. Rotate through without loading screens (since it’s at the same track).
Nah, that makes too much sense…
Only real track is jungle airstrip at 1.0mi. Gives you time, can read speed for approx trap.
My 992 ran a 20.25 at 262-ish on semi-slicks. Auto faster than stick. Hilarious tune, S995
Need a tree and records.
I can’t really speak on the scene nowadays but drag racing has always had a scene in forza horizon and motorsport going way back to FH2/FM4. That being said forza themselves make the worst events and no one uses them. You will mostly find races in the xbox LFG tab making posts for 1/4 mile drag lobbys. If you are looking to get into drag racing on FM7/FH5 start there. A lot of these people who say there are no drag racers are simply wrong, sure noone uses the events but going all the way back to FH3 when I was into competitive drag racing on forza there were several drag clubs and teams on everyday tuning their cars setting up club battles (street outlaws style team drag races) for bragging rights on the fastest club, auction house wagers etc. Its a somewhat underground scene, but they are out there.
