Disc or Download?

I was going to go out and get FH2 today after work for my Xbox1. My question is would it be better to get the disc, or just get the download for the game. I have the downloaded version FM5 and I haven’t had any issues yet with it. Any opinions?

Depends if you keep all your games, or if you’re one of those people who like to trade them in later to put towards new games. I went with the download, but thats only because I buy MS points when they’re on sale, usually 1/2 price.

Disc.

It seems like more people who have downloaded the game are having the most problems.

After reading a lot of threads about the ‘unlock digital pre-loaded game issues’, I get the feeling that those (and other) issues had something to do with a compatibility issue with the Beta dash.

I went for the download - what’s your source for people downloading are having the most problems.

Download since I prefer to have less physical stuff around my apartment. Less is more.

Once installed, it’s the same game anyway, so I see no point in having a disc around that can break or get lost.

I don’t buy a lot of games, so I don’t have to worry about stuff laying around. I just put the games in with the dvd’s on the rack.
I have only had one issue with FM5, the audio bug when racing, and I’m not sure if it’s because it’s downloaded or just the game issue.

Well, with no discs or DVDs, I don’t even need a rack. I never live in the same place for very long, so the less things I have, the more convenient it is when I move.

As for the audio bug, there’s no reason to think it has anything to do with its ‘origin’ (downloaded or disc). Once installed, you have the SAME game software on your Xbox system, regardless of disc or download. The only difference is that if it’s a disc game, you need the disc in the console to play.

I’m strictly digital download this generation. I downloaded the Forza Horizon 2 Day One Edition ($59). I haven’t had no problems with any of my digital downloads. Why drive to the store if you don’t have to? I haven’t traded a game in, in a very long time. I bought a 4TB external hdd for my Xbox One for this very reason. I’m 100% digital. You got to install the disc anyway. Why buy physical? Digital makes more sense these days.

So you install with the disc like FM4, and then you have to use the disc to play? Or your done with the disc once installed?

If you purchase the disc version - you must have the disc inserted into the drive in order to play the game.

Ok, thats what I thought. Thanks

I think his point was that the game needs to be installed either way - disc or digital. There’s NO disc if you buy digital.

I downloaded and will probably download all games from now on. I bought the XB1 solely for FM 5 and I bought the disk. I didn’t know at the time that once you installed it that you would still have to insert the disk to play. Wasn’t a problem until this past weekend when I discovered that my FM 5 disk is somehow missing!!!

Given that the BD drive will most likely be the part to break after some time (if ever) i suggest to go with the download version to be on the safe side.

The only issues i had so far with my xboxes (original xbox and xbox360) were with the disc drives (and one red ring of dead)

For any physical purchase the disc is still required since MS changed their DRM stuff just before the release of Xbox One. They originally announced that any game will be linked to the xbox account, which wouldn’t require the disc to be in the drive to start a game but since it ended up in a proper S-Storm (because then ppl cant buy used games anymore) they ditched the idea

The only reason to buy the disc is if you are someone who trades games in and think you will do so with this game while it has any value. Otherwise go digital and avoid the hassle of having to insert the disc. There are many times prior to FH2 were I would like to play a quick race in Forza 5 but decide not to since it would require me to hunt for the disc and swap it with whatever I had in my X1 at the time.

Oh and I guess another reason to go disc would be if your internet isn’t that fast and/or if you are on a metered internet connection. The game is something like 35+ gigs and can take forever to download.

haha, looks like i’m not the only lazy one in here

I use both. If something happened to my digital download or I delete a game and want to play it years later, I would assume you could re-download them correct?
