If it’s a race-prize system, it would be a good choice if it’s a prize for a specific event in the campaign mode, like in FM1 or FM2, where you get it once and it’s added to the auto show, or if it’s a prize for a specific event in the campaign mode, like in Gran Turismo, where once you complete that event, you can get the same car over and over again by trying the same event again.
This is not a playlist prize, but in FH4, career mode prize cars are only available once, and for players who want to own more than one of their favorite models, a popular prize car like the Skyline R34 was one of the most difficult models to reacquire.
Also, one of the negative aspects of an exclusive car is that there is no guaranteed opportunity to reacquire it.
This is causing exclusive cars to monopolize garage space, a problem that will only get worse as FH5 continues to add more cars to its live service.
The Backstage Pass was a possible remedy for this system, but it too can only be redeemed once, and only one new model is added per week, so it’s not great in terms of stable re-acquisition opportunities.
Kinda like many forced their way thru Eliminator to get the Mercury and never play that mode again. PG loves to exploit unlocks behind online events as metrics to boast about. In any case, I’ve always felt if you “unlock” a car, it should immediately be unlocked in the Autoshow, then if you want more than 1, you can do so. Why doesn’t someone ask Mike Brown this question? I’d like to hear his thoughts on this.
When you think about it, if that is the case then they should look deeper into the core of the game so the gameplay experience can be enjoyable enough without having to resort to “carrot on a stick” methods.
If people are literally only playing the game because they must have the latest exclusive gear, then something is clearly wrong.
Also on the topic, the 86 should be in the autoshow, GameRiot showed it in the actual autoshow, not the horizon promo list: https://youtu.be/LowG2KpYATI?t=709
And on the recent playlist rewards, the car is tagged as “hard to find” and not “exclusive”, so I don’t think it is confirmed that it will be a locked car.
That’s not the whole point. You need to sell cars in the Auction house to make money to buy all the stuff in the game. You can’t sell cars if they are easily available in the Autoshow. You kill the economy you kill the game.
Do you really? You make decent money by doing a couple of goliath laps, and then even more out of wheelspins/super wheelspins rewards. How did people got around with making money on 4 before the auction house got tweaked to have this “dynamic” price range system post launch?
You can make 2500000 doing a couple of Goliath laps, it takes an hour. In the auction house you can have 10 cars on sale for £10M each for an hour. You can do both at the same time. £10M each That’s not even Legendary status.
Well … it’s an option to make money … but not a necessity. I have every car in FH4 and hundreds of millions of credits in the bank and have never sold a car in the Auction House.
That’s false, you don’t need to sell cars in the AH to make money. You dont even have to be a painter or tuner. All you have to do is play the game.
I’ve got more than enough money to buy everything in FH4 and is primarily from playing the game. I’ve sold duplicates on the AH, but it accounts for maybe 5-10% of the credits I currently have in game.
To further my point, I’ve sold cars that are available in the autoshow too and sometimes you can find cars cheaper on the AH than in the autoshow. So, yes, you can sell cars that are easily available in the autoshow in the AH.
Well say 250k an hour playing the game. The Ford Capri FE 20M. So that’s 80 hours to buy 1 car. Then there are about another 20 cars for 20M. Then the houses, and castles to buy. It’s not the best way to play the game. The wheelspins don’t give you many duplicates. By the way you are ‘supposed’ to find cars cheaper in the auction house than in the Autoshow, that’s the whole point of the auction house. It’s the cars not available in the Autoshow that cost the most. The rare cars are your rewards for figuring out the best way to get them. I’ve had 6 Capri FE’s. Maybe the AE86 will be the new Capri FE?
In a way a duplicate car before they gave you the option to sell them directly is worse than winning a car that you don’t have anyway. You then have to sell it, and buy another car. That’s at least an extra hour of waiting for a basic car. Not only that but most of my spins were clothes at the beginning.
I’m sure everyone agrees that a duplicate car is worse than a car yog don’t have, but it’s not an hour of waiting to buy another car of you received a duplicate. You don’t necessarily have to sell the duplicates either, a lot of people keep them, nor do you have to buy another car.
Again, all you have to do is play the game. If you struggle to get credits from just playing the game, then you are doing something wrong.
The auction house is a form of supplemental income. It is not meant to be the sole provider of in game credits.
But this isn’t about getting credits in the game, it is about getting credits to buy all the cars in the game, so you would have to buy another car with the credits that you get to be on topic. It started with the AE86 not being in the autoshow, and then moved on to buying cars in the auction house if you can’t get them in the autoshow. It’s not about credits that you don’t buy all of the game elements with.
This is what you replied to originally…
And my point was that you would lose players if people can’t buy all the stuff in the game. Then you started saying how 80 hours was OK to buy 1 car. Which to me loses players.
You’ve contradicted yourself in your first sentence. Getting credits in the game and getting credits to buy all the stuff in the game is literally the same thing and achieved the same way, by playing the game! You originally stated that you needed to sell cars to make money to buy all the stuff in the game. It’s right there, you quoted it. YOU started the conversation about getting credits in game, I simply responded to YOUR post.
I never said 80 hours was ok to buy 1 car and it doesn’t take that long anyway, not is 80 hours a lot of gameplay for most games.
The AE86 isn’t in the autoshow. Ok, so play the game to earn it or play the game to earn the credits to buy it in the auction house.
At this point, I’m not sure why I’m even responding. You don’t get it.
Credits to buy all the stuff in the game. It is clearly about buying all the stuff in the game. The whole thread is about getting cars right from the first post. You do understand that threads have to be on topic with the first post?
You’re kidding, right?! You’ve got to be trolling at this point. I responded to YOUR post. I provided a counterpoint to YOUR post, which by the way had nothing to do with the original topic if you want to nitpick.
So, I’ll say it again and bring the post back on-topic, just like I did in my last post. The AE86 isn’t in the autoshow. Ok, then do what is necessary to get the car or do what is necessary to buy it on the auction house.
It’s not the only popular car that isn’t available and it certainly won’t be the last. It’s just part of the game. Play it to get what you want or don’t.
Ok now you are back on topic to buying the AE86, and not just talking about credits. So if you miss the AE86 is the seasonal event it will most likely go up to 20M, and so you need a quick way to make 20M, and so I just pointed out ways to make money quick. It was all on topic until you said just get credits by playing the game it doesn’t mean you have to buy cars with it… when the topic was about buying cars with it. Also you picked the slowest way to make money. Somebody also said they want every seasonal car to go into the Autoshow which then kills the game for a lot of people. Rare cars are great to own. Also you keep saying “Just play the game” as though the auction house wasn’t a part of the game, and couldn’t be used to make money. I always point out that Elite was one of the top games of all time, and it was basically a buying/selling game. Playing the game for me is buying, and selling, racing, drifting, owning rare cars, painting, tuning, and a lot of other things.
